@@Dcm193 agreed. I try to teach my grand children about plant life and animal life. Depending on what happens, then farming and trading, which I believe will be the currency of the future if that happens.
Agreed. A lot of them don't focus on tools enough. Lots of short term supplies, but, no means of long term procurement. Traps and snares are worth more than ammo in the long run. People who focus on emulating the military still haven't realized just how much the military has that they don't. A very short list of what you DON'T HAVE is: squad automatic weapons, medical help if you get shot, MASH units, hospitals, sufficient antibiotics, reinforcements, mortars, artillery, air strikes, a complicated logistics system, and a nation state paying for it all with the citizen's tax money. Most of these groups have a few guys with rifles....that's it. And no RELIABLE external resupply of ammo. Which, judging by how I've seen them shoot, is going to be a problem fairly quickly. Not arguing against someone having a black rifle, they can buy what they think they need, but, they'd best give some thought to their logistics or it will bite them fatally in the ass sure as sitting down on a cottonmouth.
the hell I cant. All of the dangerous marauders will be wearing concealed armor. You want a silenced 223 AR, with night vision, armor ,solar charger .22 lr conversion unit, 1 in 9" rifling twist-rate, 60 gr Aquils subsonic 22 ammo and 60 gr Nosler Partition softpoints 223 bullets.
@user-ci2mn1oy3w not to many of those type people out here in the country. So a 22lr will poke a hole as will any other caliber. And a ar style should be loaded with 5.56 instead of 223 at least.mine were before I sold them.

Kentucky Hillbilly here..the first gun I'm grabbing in a shitstorm is one of my 10-22 Ruger rifle. I have almost every WW2 bolt action rifles used by the allied and axis powers. I have several hunting rifles and shotguns of all types and a bunch of military assault style rifles from around the world and a couple .50 BMG rifles one a bolt-action and the other is a M107 Barrett. I shot .22s since I was 7 and put 10s of thousands .22s down range in my life hunting and target practicing. I literally wore out a few .22 rifles shooting them so much and I also knew exactly where that bullet was going everytime I shot. Yes that old .22LR is still my first choice for survival and keeping a low profile and self defense. Should I need a battle rifle I have them but that .22 will still be the back up and most trusted! 👍

I alway thought that people worried too much about ammo for there rifles or what kind of rifle to buy, but I can tell you from experience you do not have to buy thousands of rounds of ammo and different weapons because when the SHTF starts they will be laying on the ground everywhere with dead bodies just walk over and pick anything up you want for zero cost.
Pretty much. Most people don't know how to survive. So starvation and things like typhoid and cholera are going to be hell for those folks. Too many people have melodramatic ideas about what a collapse would look like. Most people will be killed by bad water or lack of food. Kind of ironic as most cities have lots of wildlife living in them. I remember seeing some security camera footage where a couple in the city walked out of their house right past a black bear that was foraging in their trash cans.
Yep, a 22 rifle a 12 ga. shotgun and some snares can keep you well fed and protected. Watch the sales on ammo and you can still get great deals on ammo. Stock up while you can!
FYI: If you are speaking of 12 ga. 00 buck shot, then you normally have 9 pellets approximately the size of a 9 mm bullet. I'm not that smart by the way, but this I know.☺ have a great day
I do agree on the .22 and 12 bore. Great cartridges and the most likely to find scavenging. I'd rather have a pump shotty myself, but a single or over under/double would work pretty good too. But, in the end you have to use what works best for you.
The best video I've seen in a long time. I've got others but the 22 and 22mag are my favorites. Good job Sir and you and Ms Kitty stay safe and God Bless yall.
I picked up a chiappa double badger 22/20 last fall and its now my favorite rifle. Its super quiet firing 22 and you still have a 20 gauge shotgun with screw in chokes.
The neat thing about the single 12ga, is that you can get inserts for it. I have a .357 insert for my NEF shotgun. I sure agree, the .22 is my favorite!
Not quite. If there were no law enforcement the people there would be a bit freer to defend themselves. Really they'd be better off without any law enforcement at all than what they currently have. Turn the "rooftop Koreans" loose and the situation would change rather drastically and for the better. (in my opinion)
put a silencer and night sights, scope option on a shorty 223 AR-15 and have a 22lr conversion unit for it. Then you'll have it all. you can bait in and brain elk, moose and bears to 100m, or snare them by the foot to 300 lbs of drag log. You can bury half of a $10 , 50 lb salt/mineral block from Sutherlands and bait it once a week with molasses and corn, peanut butter and bacaon grease until you see sign that animals are using the "lick". Then you only need to rebait each lick once a month. YOu still need pre-buried empty drums and salt so that if shtf, you can preserve the meat and get it safely stored. You can bait fish to a given part of a lake and have plenty of netting cached nearby and again have salt and pre buried drums. You can either dig a trench thru a pond dam, until ther's just 6" of water left in it and net-spear every critter in it, or you can use Rotenone fish poison to take all of the fish out of it. Just trot line fishing or just small game trapping or just hunting wont hack it. You'll need a million calories per year per person and you can be out and about in daylight,, for at least the first year of shtf. You can't show a light at night, have a fire in daytime, nor make noise. Doing those things will get you shot
For long term, something like a 20 gauge northwest trade gun with a good rock lock. I can make my own holy black , and you can always find a rock that'll strike sparks. And parts aren't particularly hard to make. Lead can be recast almost indefinitely.
That Winchester pump .22 if you hold the trigger back as you pump it it will fire as fast as you pump, kind of useless but kind of fun I have lots of .22s including a model 62 but I also have a surplus Air Force .22 conversion kit for an AR15. Just replaces the bolt and uses a 10 rd magazine. It’s shoots pretty good and to point of aim at 20 yards using the same sight setting as the 5.56
I hear ya, my absolute favorite rifle is my remington mod 33 single shot bolt action .22 it is a nail driver I know because iv don't it with that rifle. Good vedio , your opinion is just plain ol good since.
I go with a trapline special, 22 for the trapline and a large caliber side arm for trouble because trouble is always up close. jf trouble is far away its no trouble at all.
A single shot 12 gauge shotgun is part of my SHTF BOB/INCH bag load out, which also includes one case each of Federal mini shells of slug, # 4B and # 8 shot... That and a Cricket 22LR...
I have 2 22 mag rifles and a pmr 30 kel tec it's the best round as far as I'm concerned. I was hitting steel targets at 300 yards with my Henry right out 9f the box.
I totally agree. One of my favorite things about 'that low powered 22lr' is that even an out of shape guy with a small backpack can carry everything he need for days at a time. 2,000 is simple to carry. Try that with any centerfire. Better have a burrow. 2000 3030 150 grain is like a 100 dang pounds. Might want 2 burros.
just found a used model 60 marlin it was the first firearm i ever owned as a kid sadly sold it years ago so i was thrilled to find this gem i had that marlin and a single shot 20 gauge H&R Topper Jr and i killed everything with both those guns squirrels, rabbits , dove , quail , snakes … i loved those guns
I do think the 22 is one of the most versatile calibers. They are a lot of fun, light, low recoil, and accurate. In the end, however, if I was forced into a 1 gun situation, I would have to go with the shotgun.
Got 3 but my favorite was an old Winchester pump like the one in the video. That thing just fit ,hung, and shot incredibly well. My favorite snowshoe rabbit gun by far , back then it was accelerators and yellow jackets for fast ammo .

Old Native lady used to take Moose with a 22 to feed her family here in Northern Canada
Great video! Hope to see some more like this. For me it's my Ruger Mini-14 ranch rifle. Low recoil, non-tactical looking, cheap and available ammo, good self defense gun, able to hunt small game and big game with a good shot.
Me too can use 5 rd mag our 30
And with the 5rd from a distance its hard to tell if its a bolt or a semi.
look at how many wars were fought in the appalachia mountains with granpas old hog killing rifle
they say a 22 has taken every game animal in north america
my grandson came and got my old 81 chevy 4x4 for his first pickup and he found lotsa 22 and 12ga shells along with an old pay stub where i made $20k for the year my son was telling him we lived decently on that
my grandson wanted that truck cuz i got it from my dad then i drove it then my son drove it and now my grandson is gonna drive it they cranked it up and drove it home from my back yard
That's AWESOME 👍🤠👍
I alway thought that people worried too much about ammo for there rifles or what kind of rifle to buy, but I can tell you from experience you do not have to buy thousands of rounds of ammo and different weapons because when the SHTF starts they will be laying on the ground everywhere with dead bodies just walk over and pick anything up you want for zero cost.
You need the 1000’s of rounds for training.
@@Dcm193been training for 50 yrs now
@@timmynormand8082 thats the way it should be . Never stop preparing for shit to get weird. Much respect
@@Dcm193 same to you brother
When others are investigating in gold, and silver... I invest in brass lead broadheads and salt cure
Mountain man
22 and 20 ga. No one needs to to know what else I have. Stay Safe Brother. Hiding in the hill of Missouri. Molan
Labe
I learned to run a single barrel 12 gauge from a buncha guys who grew up during the Depression. Cut Shells for deer, bird shot for everything else.
Yep, a 22 rifle a 12 ga. shotgun and some snares can keep you well fed and protected. Watch the sales on ammo and you can still get great deals on ammo. Stock up while you can!
Years ago I had a .22 pump rifle, I liked that rifle, so accurate, sure with I had it yet. Anything bigger would be a 12 ga
I agree
A 22 is hard to beat
Thanks Brother Man
My single shot 12 is what I have for my wife too. 00-00 shot is like firing 6 - 9mil. at once. lol
LoL 😆 YEP!
FYI: If you are speaking of 12 ga. 00 buck shot, then you normally have 9 pellets approximately the size of a 9 mm bullet. I'm not that smart by the way, but this I know.☺ have a great day
@@PrestonRush-my2nx Yea, I wrote 9 first but that didn't sound right.
Yep about 20 years ago I bought a M6 survival rifle in stainless 410/22 I carry it almost everyday bag rabbit and squirrels with it consistently.
Yep!
The neat thing about the single 12ga, is that you can get inserts for it. I have a .357 insert for my NEF shotgun. I sure agree, the .22 is my favorite!
WROL were already there in the major cities.
Not quite. If there were no law enforcement the people there would be a bit freer to defend themselves. Really they'd be better off without any law enforcement at all than what they currently have. Turn the "rooftop Koreans" loose and the situation would change rather drastically and for the better. (in my opinion)
I love your coffee cup, with the big foot, and you are right about the.22 I no for sure
You can’t beat the CCI stingers and the federal punch LR they are the best for anything and I mean anything
That's a fine bachelor's pad you got there.And a badass .22.
Not a Bachelor's Pad but thank you
I have a 12ga. Hopkins & Allen I've used to hunt with for years...when I was able...bought it off my cousin for $ 25.00 years ago.
put a silencer and night sights, scope option on a shorty 223 AR-15 and have a 22lr conversion unit for it.
Excellent choice on your arms and I totally agree with you that you can find ammo for both just about anywhere stay ready and stay safe my friend
I pack a .22 caliber rifle as well a .223/5.56 with a 22 lr conversion kit.
Good morning friend hope you have a great day 👍
Wife has one like that 22 ,she is good shot and a great cook
For long term, something like a 20 gauge northwest trade gun with a good rock lock. I can make my own holy black , and you can always find a rock that'll strike sparks. And parts aren't particularly hard to make. Lead can be recast almost indefinitely.
That Winchester pump .22 if you hold the trigger back as you pump it it will fire as fast as you pump, kind of useless but kind of fun
I have lots of .22s including a model 62 but I also have a surplus Air Force .22 conversion kit for an AR15. Just replaces the bolt and uses a 10 rd magazine. It’s shoots pretty good and to point of aim at 20 yards using the same sight setting as the 5.56
Morning brother and Miss Kitty 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Remington 550 shoots all sizes of 22s built tough. Back ups model 60 marlin remington nylon.
A nice old Winchester pump 22 and SS 12 gauge. Enjoyed your thoughts sir ...
Good speech Mr. Idaho. You go brother. ❤
Remington MN:17 bottom eject 20 gauge is sweet.
Sound logic. I don’t own a pump .22 but the lever .22 I have would fill in nicely if the need would come up
yep same thoughts....mines a 22mag lever gun...peep sights...love it
I have 2 22 mag rifles and a pmr 30 kel tec it's the best round as far as I'm concerned. I was hitting steel targets at 300 yards with my Henry right out 9f the box.
Wife and I have each a 10 22 ruger automatic hers us very accurate mine have no idea we just shoot hers .
Stayin tuned! 👍🤠
just found a used model 60 marlin it was the first firearm i ever owned as a kid sadly sold it years ago so i was thrilled to find this gem i had that marlin and a single shot 20 gauge H&R Topper Jr and i killed everything with both those guns squirrels, rabbits , dove , quail , snakes … i loved those guns
I bought a Henry golden boy 22 . Love that rifle . I'm no soldier . But I'm offgrider .
I don't or want an AR .
Good morning! Nice guns! No matter what you call it, being prepared helps me to sleep better at night!
I have 2 22 long rifle semi auto old guns, but I love them, all I depend on.
I got the Remington 1934 tube feed bolt action. Drive nails with it. But I love that pump ya got. Whoop whoop
Good morning miss kitty and Hillbilly 👍❤️💖🥰🙏🇺🇸
When I was young 22 and 12 gauge. That took everything I could eat.
Gotta love a guy who carries two spare tires! I do. You should too.
I do
AND I have had to use both to get off the mountain
All my firearms are 22cal
a ruger 10/22 , a 8 shot revolver and a 22 Bobcat !
GOD BLESS YOU,FRIEND!!!!! Missouri Hillbilly.
Thank you man. I need to know stuff like this, for real.
I was thinking a lever action 22. But even a cheap auto loader gets you a lot of the way.
I'm in Arkansas and have the same 22, 62a, like new. It's 5 years older than me
I do think the 22 is one of the most versatile calibers. They are a lot of fun, light, low recoil, and accurate. In the end, however, if I was forced into a 1 gun situation, I would have to go with the shotgun.
Blessings, julie
Plus if you’re collecting pelts, 22 is the way to go there. I’m learning raccoon pelts now. I learned how to do snake skins last year.
In my opinion, the nylon 66 is the best 22 rifle 😎👍🏼
Got 3 but my favorite was an old Winchester pump like the one in the video. That thing just fit ,hung, and shot incredibly well. My favorite snowshoe rabbit gun by far , back then it was accelerators and yellow jackets for fast ammo .
I respectfully disagree with your choice Brother..... However... In 1967 my first shot was the nylon 66... Fond memories of the GOOD OLD DAYS..... GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS.....
@@robertnelson1098 just curious, which 22 rifle would you choose?
20 gauge will work on anything from black bear to the 2 leggit type for defense.
I believe the best gun for a survival situation is the one you have.
