A lot of the investment comes from companies who wanna save money to not pay truckers.
It won't happen soon at all. Even when it does there must be a trucker who baby sits the AI driving in case of accident. Will the pay be the same? Perhaps but probably not.
In the future the low income family will not be the one who didn't have education but the one who probably studied 5 years at uni and still can't find more since getting work will be specialized like we need more plumber, it etc..
Layeers, doctors and teachers, plumber etc will be the last things to replace. Even if the tech is there might never replace it anyway.

Affects human health? The shit coming out of the exhaust of these EPA trucks was shown to easily pass through clothing and directly to the blood stream. That was a CARB research white paper published in or around 2010. Their recommendation was remove the emissions, as they were much worse than a standard oil burner. They found the new emissions as carcinogenic. The white paper was scrubbed from the internet. I wish I still had the copy.

The DEF cycle exhaust has to be toxic. You know when you smell it that you definitely should not be breathing it! That DEF is slowly slowly being burnt as you drive highway speeds. The DEF itself smells like ammonia, and the byproducts in the exhaust from the DEF burn smell horrific. That is a warning from your body to stay away.
BTW ammonia derivatives are used to form protein bonds (peptides) and are used in the body in the active sites of enzymes. The ammonia cycle and urea cycle are important. Why do I point this out? Well many drugs have similar structure to chemicals already in the body or that are made by the body. By mimicking chemicals in the body, drugs can effectively tell the body to do things or change the way it is operating. Many drugs have side effects and can be deadly or just make you sick. Also, it can take decades for the government to decide that something is a carcinogen. Your nose may tell you to get far away from something long before the government does.

Well.... Cleaner air is better air to breath, most of the older trucks need to be off the roads anyways, the newer trucks burn much cleaner & remember this... During covid, the Los Angeles basin & surrounding views were clear with no brown smog, people said it was the clearest they ever had seen the views of the mountain ranges & Los Angeles sky line was clear if smog, because there was no vehicle traffic on the highways, so cleaner air & less burned diesel soot blowing around is a good thing, so glad theyre leading the way & make these trucking companies clean up their pollution so we can be healthier

It increases power lower the coolant temperature

I went through the scale house Tues afternoon in NJ on I-295 N and DOT was pulling every truck in doing an emissions test. They take ur registration, have u release ur brakes while wheels are chocked. They slide a pipe underneath ur truck, which I assume is a sensor with a camera. The officer had some type of device hardwired to a computer outside the DOT inspection van, while someone is in the van on a computer. He then tells u to release ur brakes and hold the accelerator to the floor until he tells u to release it. U do this 3 times then gets the paperwo inside the van and lets u know if u pass or fail and puts a sticker on the windshield. I did pass for the state of NJ n looking at the report, it reads, If the system has been tampered with, any visible liquid leaks, visible smoke, indicator lights , and misc, emissions. . Anything to get u off the road and a big money grab. And def something coming from this corrupted administration on down. Head of DOT n Tales from the crypt Biden are close friends and def tryna stick it to smaller carriers. Smfh

Working at a municipality in CA. New CARB regs going into Public Works contracts this year. All sorts of “clean vehicle” and equipment requirements now to be implemented for all heavy trucks and tractors (and even hand tools like cutters). Battery-powered tools and electric being required, with very little wiggle room. Construction costs doubled and tripled since “Uncle Joe” stepped in (coincidence?). I can only imagine what prices will be now!

If I remember correctly Virginia used a portable system that would be in place on a highway for a day/days. The difference being it was a system for cars and it would put your pass/fail into a government system that you would use for yearly inspection/registration stickers. Also it was usually left un manned.

@travelingman21000 ok I am a Truck Driver. This one of the reasons why a lot of truck drivers don't go to California. I stopped going to California in 2014 when I got hit with supposedly going uphill at 69 mph when I had my truck governed at 65. My ELD at the time kept track of my maximum during my shift and it showed 61mph. Cop didn't care, was not DOT, and refused to have one show up. I was told be my lying ass lawyer that they would fight it for me and I didn't have to go to court. They didn't go to court it stuck. Cost me $650
