It's really a crazy world. I just turned 30, and my parents talked about how they were trying to have all electric cars when I was a little kid. And now we do have them, but why are we trying to kick out what actually works before we get electric working right? As a business owner who works on nothing but fossil fuel powered engines, I'll be happy to get with the times, but when it's alittle extra hot out and the government tells you to turn down the A/C because the grid is overwhelmed, how the hell are we going to power an entire country of electric vehicles without taking, idk 20 years to COMPLETELY rebuild or rethink our energy creation system? Anyways....I agree with ya haha
Few things going on here and you can actually look it up for yourself. 1. The government doest care about you. It only cares about its own pockets. Greatest words to fear are "im from the government and im here to help 2. Battery production is in China and all mines are owned by china. 3. Many politicians have stocks in these companies for batteries. 4. The government doesn't want you to have anything and to only be dependent upon them. 5. Businesses refuse to make anything that will last. They loose business in sales. JD is a prime example. They raised the cost of parts to the point its cheaper to buy new than it is to get parts. Overall, we don't have the infrastructure period. It's all planned and forced upon us to cripple everyone. Its sickening to he honest. I don't mind solar on buildings. Thays a different topic at hand. However, Gates buying tons of land under many different companies and popping up solar farms is bad. Especially after the latest crops were half destoryed by order or fines imposed on farmers.
@@livewithnick they are influenced by money and try push special interests they don’t really care about the environment but when have soy boy buying up land don’t think his hand isn’t in political influence why we should ban donations and anything like such and will end all this crap make it illegal for any politician to take monies in any form and there ken or anyone who has dealings w them
@krisgriffin6336 right , and half the truck will be left behind when all the fairings are ripped off before it even makes it to the landing to get loaded.
That's why they don't have power and rolling blackouts, they don't understand how anything works. And the government is to stupid to use wood burning power plants.
Like anything, just need big enough tools for the job (batteries). I'm all about diesel but electric power ain't no joke. Full instant torque, can't beat that. Unfortunately, it's hella expensive. But would be a lot more convenient not having to fuel up every morning...
@@rayb.6537 He didn't say he needed permission. He said he was welcome to come to Idaho. You must be one of those woke liberals still trying to figure out what gender you are.
Theres nothing wrong with renewables where you can, but shouldn't be forced, and they are about like the DEF/DPF. They aren't ready for heavy use. Sure electrics might work for joe scmoe who drives to work day to day. But it just doesn't work like that for people that actually use trucks for trucks. I live near a Rivian plant in illinois. There basically big cars. Won't tow anything more than a light(5-7k) trailer more than 100 miles without having to find a charger.
Idaho in a few more years will be just like Northern California. As long as they don’t legalize Marijuana and all the other crimes California let’s you get away with it will remain a safe place to live.
I seriously don't know how we would live without diesel engines. Literally EVERY aspect of our daily life is in some way or shape heavily influenced by diesels. I myself do not picture them going away anytime soon. Sure, California may ban them but sooner or later they will need them.
@MrTomatoHead just wait until it catches fire again. They beg all of their neighbors to bring in their "old polluting equipment" that is otherwise banned, to save their asses. Been there seen that!
Makes me happy to see your son knowing he will be a part of the way you think. I have a one year old son in NC and I am excited to start showing him how to start getting ahead of these new PC kids
Really what needs to happen in the U.S. and Canada is a massive general strike especially anybody that uses diesel powered equipment to show the governments who really is boss. Lithium based batteries just dont give the power to weight ratio for heavy equipment, and are dangerous, and take too long to recharge.
I don't know where they plan to get the energy. When it gets hot, on the news here (Nevada) they ask us to conserve so more energy can be sent to Ca. Rolling blackout. They give tips on saving energy. Now add thousands of 240 volt, 50 amp chargers to the system... no way. Not even close. The grid will fail. Like plugging in too many things to the same outlet.
We should be showing the pollution and slave labor that goes into making a Lithium based batterie. Follow the money and you'll see the truth behind the policies our goverments make.
Great video Sam, very clear and descriptive. You have always put out great content that has surely has helped plenty of people. Understandably California is your home and I feel for you and your emission situation, I cant imagine the state I live in and call home outlawing my vehicle due to age/condition. Excited to see what you have in store for the channel, keep up the good work!
EV Trucks lose 70% of their range while loaded/towing. Of the remaining 30% left you can cut that in half in cold weather. You're looking at honestly about a 35 mile range in cold weather....on flat land, in the hills its game over. Then, if you're lucky, you can find a charging station and wait an hour for it to recharge. To say they aren't ready for primetime is an understatement. There is no way with current tech to make them even close to commercially viable. It will require major advancements in battery tech, like decades from now. A 1000% increase minimum to even enter the conversation. And if you know how long it takes engineers to even get a 20% increase on anything you can do the math on the fate of the commercial EV truck. RIP.
I think the hope is that graphene will finally be mass produced to make graphene super capacitors. But even then I think it’s just some publicity stunt. Worst comes to worst they just push the goal post back and say “2050 no more diesels” and etc.
Almost no one tows anything with their trucks and never see any snow in California, other than maybe a couple of flakes one day every other year. Most trucks are just used to drive to work and supermarket.
Went skiing at Monmouth in the late 80’s. It was the most beautiful place I’d ever skied as I’m from the East. Use to visit SanJose every year back then. Was thinking I was going to move there back then but it just didn’t happen. Now I’m glad I didn’t. The beautiful weather and scenery could never make up for the politics. Good luck sir
I feel ya, it's the same deal in NY. They complain and complain about ICE and diesel, but I don't think all the heavy equipment and plow trucks digging out the state from massive lake effect snow or plowing trucking routes up by the Canadian border in negative 30-degree weather, or the logging trucks driving across the Adirondacks, are going to be magically replaced all of a sudden. So much of the state is countryside, forests and rolling hills with very little infrastructure. Lots of small towns with dirt roads, and only well water and some don't even have reliable cell service yet. Most folks outside of the cities live off of farming, trucking, logging, mining, and industries of those likes. A whole different planet compared to places like Albany or Rochester, and a whole different universe than NYC. Pisses me off cause so much of the state is beautiful countryside with old school, down to earth people leading simple lives, but they get the will of those 120 miles away, living in a different world with different values, imposed on them. I read an article about the state bullying a rural school district saying they had to replace their school buses with electric buses. The district couldn't afford them and didn't have the infrastructure for them and the money the state was willing to give them was next to nothing considering the total cost it would be. All government bull$hit. If you want to buy electric, you should be free to buy electric. But if someone wants to keep the ICE vehicles or buy an ICE, they should be free to do so. There's no liberty anymore.
Just more examples of how out of touch politicians really are. The whole problem stems from the fact that they are not "real" people. They live in their own special world, where they can't even comprehend what it's like for working class people that make the country go. They just react to everything by emotion and what sounds good on paper without considering all the repercussions. Same reason they think you don't need a gun, because who would ever need to protect themselves when you live in a private gated community with security like they do.
People in power (both in individual states & federal) DON'T represent the general majority. Voting is, and always has been a joke, with well UNDER 50% of the general population ever casting their votes. THAT is the real problem with this entire country nowadays - massive misrepresentation & misrepresentation.
I love the crew cab build. Can’t wait for the next episode to see how it’s coming along. I built a 1930 model A with a 12v many years ago but want to do a build like your 66 soon.
Hopefully you didn't export California politics. I started out life in the UK, immigrated to Canada and became a citizen in 1987 (lived in many parts of Canada including the far north). Canada followed the UK down the socialist road and I left for the US in 2005 (now on state #4). I have always made it a point to adopt the majority of the culture of the place that I move to. No point in moving somewhere and trying to make it like the place that you left.
Sorry to double comment but my first was a rant against dumb environmental regulations. This one is to say I’m really happy you were able to get the things you’d always wanted for your hobby. Being an antique car/light truck enthusiast and vintage heavy truck fanatic I look at you as an inspiration on what I can do with time and dedication, not someone to envy because you “got lucky” etc. Those who are envious because they lack the vision to figure out how they can get what they want too. God bless you and yours.
I lived in Red Bluff for 20ish years and couldnt be happier that i moved to Utah. I picked up a 99 f350 7.3 for $3k about a year ago, it has a 5 inch straight pipe and an edge tuner that makes it roll coal of you want it to. I have no emissions or safety inspection and couldnt be happier. I also dont have to worry about paying registration if i happen to not drive it for a year or 4.
Why roll coal? Do you want to pollute just because you can? I'll bet you don't want to smell a stranger's bad breath or bad body odor everywhere you go, do you?
@@yosquidd242 the only time i purposely roll coal is when some asshole cant figure out what proper following distance is. I bet you think farms need shut down too.
@YO SQUIDD people use low boost fueling to tow heavy loads with. When you stomp on it, it rolls coal. The low boost fueling spools the turbo up much faster.
A friend of mine moved to Idaho 3 years ago from Sonoma County, had a small construction company here, went there opened up shop and went straight to work! No emission BS to deal with
They did the same thing to my company vehicles, got new tags ect...., within 2 months you're gonna get a suspended registration from the Air Quality Control Board, Now that the reg is paid for, DMV sends your new reg to them and then they will catch it and send you a notice that your reg is no longer valid. DMV will not refund you the pro-rate from reg dues.
California is in a whole different category for emissions, you have mild winters which helps with BEV’s. In rural Canada we still need internal combustion engines, batteries don’t cut it. But California still needs to up it game with clean energy production to carry the foreseen energy load. Good luck.
California needs more generation, period. Solar and BS wind turbines don't cut it. Solar takes up a massive footprint to generate any decent amount of megawatts. Natural gas generators are very clean, they have catalyst systems and exhaust scrubbers and their footprint is a fraction of what solar is to produce more megawatts. Hell even more hydroelectric would be awesome, that's truly the best way to generate electricity.
Good news on the 5500. I’d like to have things the way they were forever but that ain’t happening. Great information and attitude, thanks for sharing Sam 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

Well said! I too have been a lot of places. Born & raised NorCal, traveled through 45 states, & still love living & working here in the Sierra Foothills.
Hey man, thanks for all the content. As far as the registration renewal for the older trucks, I’m thinking they probably can’t actually stop renewing it. They can make us think they can, so hopefully we’ll just get rid of the stuff, but at the end of the day they’ll keep sending renewal papers. It’s kinda like the “miracle cure” from the late unpleasantness. They couldn’t actually force anyone to take that, but they made a lot of people think they had to take it. Anyway, good luck to you out there. It is a beautiful part of the world. I live on the other side of the country where the scenery and weather are depressing in comparison, but the government is slightly less tyrannical. Can’t have everything, I suppose.
They can and will suspend registration. A buddy of mine runs a concrete cutting coring business in socal. He has a beautiful low mile 99 7.3 f450 flatbed with a lift gate that was the flagship truck of his business. It’s now been sitting in his work yard for a few years rotting away stripped of all it work stuff because he was no longer allowed to register it. It’s a shame what ca has become. I moved out of ca 6 years ago. I miss my home but I’m glad I left. The liberal government are banning everything.
Problem with buying new stuff to stay productive is that anything carb compliant breaks down just as much as older worn out equipment and costs 10x as much to repair. Thanks CARB!
Hello, V-belt just viewed this video and decided to like and subscribed because I completely! I am a first-time diesel truck owner in Washington State. 1996 GMC Sierra C3500 1-ton ambulance equipped with, of course, a venerable 6.5L Detroit Diesel! Working on converting it into an RV. Not the most powerful diesel but I have upgraded the fuel, cooling, and Turbo systems.
Totally agree. Older trucks were clean burning. Fast forward to the beginning of egrs and mid 2000’s and they all stunk. Right now I’m fine with emissions if they could just make it reliable. Agree with electric stuff too. If it works for the right application then it’s awesome (power tools, small engine equipment, commuter cars) but it isn’t there yet for any hard working vehicle. Reusable energy is awesome if it’s cheaper and makes sense. Be curious to see what happens in the future. Until then I’m driving my old 7.3 and deleted 6.7.
I work on EV/Hybrid development, there are some great motor packages out there, and we have been working with some medium duty companies who have some serious stuff coming out at least as far as hybrids, but the weight and power output of current batteries just doesn't make sense for heavy duty trucks or equipment, and the fact is that we are going to need diesel and gas for quite some time.
Amen brother. Love how you ended the video. I got FarNorCal pride running through my veins 24/7 365 Shasta County Ca. Most people got us all twisted up And lumped in together with all the other loonies that make Up the cities in Ca. There are ALOT of good people In Ca. The majority of us that live in the rural areas of Northern California are different and disconnected from the San Francisco and LA liberals, but they are the voting block that drives the madness. Vote for like minded community leaders in local elections and legally resist control imposed by Sacramento. That’s all I can say. I’m a native son and love it here. Couldn’t see myself anywhere else that fits my needs. Hate the political atmosphere but try to raise my family with American values and Godly principles.
I understand completely what you're saying. When I was working, I would go through a rig every three years or so . I would buy a new van and drive it till it hit about 60k and then trade it in for a new one. Not only did it keep me dependable, but as you said, I didn't have to do major work on the vehicle, just regular maintenance. Of course, I was claiming mileage and ware and tare depreciation on the vehicle, but I always kept up on it and kept maintenance records. 60k or just before that seems to be the magic number for trade in because dealerships want low mileage late model vehicles with maintenance records to put out on their used car section of their lot . I had a good relationship with the dealer I went to and usually got a pretty good deal as a return customer. I always bought and never leased and paid it off in three years, so I would get six months to a year of payment less driving out of the vehicle. There's something about driving a new vehicle that puts you a notch above the rest of the crew, and if you have a smart employer, he realizes your effort because it benefits him too .
Watch hoovies garage review on the F150 lightning. He showed just how useless that particular truck really is. Personally I’ve enjoyed watching what you’re doing with the 66.
CFL Truck purchased one of the first Lightning EV trucks with the big battery. They’re Colorado based. Around the Denver area, range with no tow tests was under 180 miles. Towing a 7,000 lb trailer, under 70 miles if I remember correctly. Then they decided to be the first to drive the Alaska Highway. To call it a failure was giving the truck credit. No charging stations. Having to resort to 120volt 25-30 amp camp ground power. CFL has about 7,000 miles on their truck, so check out the list of items going toes up on the $93,000 pos. Can’t remember who the douche bag Congress biotch was that claimed she drove straight through from Michigan to DC in her new electric car and didn’t have to stop to recharge.
@@VBELTandSON He did once and it was awful, however,,,,,he sold it pretty soon after and the battery went dead on the new owner and its a paper weight now. He thinks the battery was already bad, and that had a little something to do with the super poor towing battery life.
Glad you were able to get tags for another year. Will be interesting to see what happens with fire equipment this year, none of the contractors I work with have 2010 or newer lowboys. It's funny, my 64 A model is illegal in California, but it gets decent mileage and doesn't smoke much more than a new one, and the resources to build a new one are way more than keeping old reliable on the road. Check out Edison motors in BC, they're converting log truck to diesel electric, like a locomotive. Pretty neat solution
That's a good point. Emergency vehicles are mostly diesel. Just California's wildland firefighting needs alone should be enough to tell them this isn't going to work. I'm guessing they're going to have to make "special" exceptions when it comes down to the wire.
@@TheSlywright : Most likely the "gooberment" will be fully exempt from their own forced laws. That's typically how things work. Government institutions are famous for; "Do as we say, not as we do."

Funny how the views swing from subjects time to time. Seems like one thing does great then falls off then the other picks back up. Not sure. How it works. Lol
I've watched the emissions trajectory from the 1970s to now, carbon canisters and air pumps to sophisticated computer controlled systems, DEF, DPF, etc. Over the decades, manufacturers have spent untold hundreds of billions of dollars to meet every tier of emissions. The air in cities has vastly improved, but the equipment and trucks have gotten to the point where they're unreliable and expensive to own and maintain, disposable once the warranty is up. And now that the tech has matured and can be fine tuned to improve the weak points, the ivory tower says, "Never mind, junk 'em all, we're going full electric, and it's gotta happen in 10 years, not 50". IMHO, gotta be one of the best examples of the worst waste of time, money and effort ever. And guess who pays (and has paid) the price.
But Sam how clean is def? No doubt the tailpipe is cleaner, but at what cost? I buy the jug def, which comes in a plastic and cardboard box, which ends up in a landfill. What about all those precious metals in the catalytic converter, which are mined in other countries and shipped over by container ship ships, which burn thousands of gallons of fuel a lot dirtier than our low-sulfur diesel. Then the fuel mileage of these newer trucks, compared to my old 12 valve, the old truck will generally beat my 21 6.7 truck. When all of the factors are added up, I'm not sure this greener tailpipe is really greener in my opinion.
You’re absolutely right about the grid not having enough capacity…….I mean look at how many mandatory rolling blackouts we’ve had. Electric or hybrid will not replace diesel anytime soon…doubt in the next 10 years….for towing and transporting heavy loads over long distance and mountains, etc. they can’t/shouldn’t make such a mandate without first having technology and infrastructure in place or a solid plan to be in place well before. Crazy.
I scooped 20 inches of snow off two separate south facing roofs yesterday here in South Dakota. Good luck with that solar. I wouldn't even be able to go up there.
Many modern panels have built in heaters these days, when I was in NY I've seen some people get solar as a means of no longer needing to worry about snow on the roof
Why do you have the 45 CA Rating Decal ? Jeez ! I have a 4500 and the highest the DMV goes on these trucks is 26. I asked for higher and they said NO You’re paying extra $$$$
Lol because I tow with my rig. A 26 sticker would make me illegal for even towing an empty trailer. We have 3500-5500s all tagged at 54k and gross that
Calirado just started charging 10c ea for grocery bags.. they took 18 bucks from my paycheck for the new family leave act. Now, i have to pay so someone can take 10 weeks off work for maternity leave.. Lets Go brandon!
Until we get rid of polis and his mafia its only going to get worse. He is a weasel only poking his head out when it benefits him and his posse. Just like the illegal problem he is supposed to be the one running this state but all he says is thats a federal problem. He needs to go.
I could do without the dpf/def. But, if i could get rid of the egr crap, i wouldn't mind the def and dpf system as much. Well provided the injectors, sensors, and heater don't break.
First, how long will it take to charge the batteries on an over the road truck. Second, hwill the additional down time to recharge the batteries affect the cost of shipping? Third, what do you do with the batteries when the batteries need to be replaced? Fourth, how much will the cost of electricity go up when everything is battery powered?
California is very confusing to me… I worked in California for awhile, never got to stay in one spot too long, but what I discovered was the variety of California, be it the landscape, the people, the politics. This bankrupts American trucking and carrier businesses based in California, yet NAFTA allows for the dirtiest unmaintained trucks to continue operating in California as long as the trucks are Mexican-registered. How does this make any sense?
I'm with you 💯. I'm from so cal and I upgrade every 5 years, especially on on my semi trucks . Being from California doesn't mean we are liberals yuppies or city slickers like people from other states might think , most of every business owner , blue collar, farmers, loggers, etc. tend to lean on the conservative side. As far as California goes in my opinion it is the most beautiful state in the lower 48 , and yes I have been to all the states with my business in Trucking .
I had a 4 stroke dirt bike I couldn't street register in CA because it didn't meet emissions requirements. I traded it for a much older 2 stroke street bike, perfectly ok to make smoke clouds because it has the street bike stamp of approval. The dirtbike went to AZ where it was granted a license plate. My LS3 swapped Wrangler couldn't be made legal here because the engine came from the wrong class of vehicle, had the engine come from a truck or SUV instead of a Corvette it could be legalized. The solution? I gave AZ $40/year for registration instead of giving CA around $400 a year. CA looses a fair bit of money from me, and many others, because of their stupidity and greed.
My hubby and I lived in california, we decided to move on the east coast. Environment or State definitely does affect business decisions, you do what you have to do to continue in the business. California is a beautiful state with a horrible manipulative government. We moved to a State where it's non Regulatory for the most part and check this out , our vehicles were registered at $5.00 a piece due to excellent budgeting of the State. Thats right Five Bucks for each vehicle and all phases of construction here is out of control with no signs of eliminating Diesel engines. We rarely see electric vehicles here if any and is not really appealing to people. Gas or Diesel thats it .

California citys one X one are no longer issuing permits for new gas stations, remodel permits for existing gas stations & expansion permits for existing gas stations. So, to keep our old diesels running we all need to learn how to make bio diesel at home. !
So I'm sure this has been said plenty, doesn't have to smoke to make power. Plenty of guys can tune one to run clean, and make power at the same time. Any dipstick with a Holley EFI setup on their stock Tahoe can for sure pick up power, and fuel mileage over stock computer without much fuss

BUUUUT.... for the solar, California is going from NEM 2 (Net Electric Metering-for those wondering, look up how it works) where, as a customer you get around $.30 KWH for your power generation..... to the new NEM 3 where you get $.03 KWH for the power you generate...... Sam, your timing was spot on, as those of us who have a permitted system under the NEM2 'contract' will still get the $.30kwh for the next 10 years, then we get the new lower rate...Yay, go green!!!!! ........ The politicians talk all big about wanting "Green Energy", but now they cave to the lobbyists of "big energy" to F-over the customers...... so after July, people who have solar installed, it's going to end up an expense for very little gain. For those of you who can DIY, you can find solar distributors and install the system yourself, with only an electrician needed for the final connections.....most of the components are plug and play, we bought ours from "Unbound Solar" in Oregon for about 1/5 the cost of a professionally installed system. final rant: about the push to battery powered cars, there's only so much of the highly toxic rare earth ingredients available to make the battery packs, and they're mined in countries that have little to no care "for the environment". They're making this big push, and the technology is kinda there, but the supply chain is going to be the achilles heel. Until we have a environmentally friendly way to make a battery pack out of common ingredients, the whole system is not really viable.

There is another option instead of "Upgrading to compliant models" which may not be a reliability upgrade. You can overhaul old equipment with new valves, hoses, pumps, rebuild cylinders, and reman engines. It is the way some of the largest mining companies in the world are going. Instead of buying new they have started rebuilding old. You might not have time, but a 120k dollar excavator payment, can buy alot of parts and pay a shop to install them. Use your records of the used equipment purchase price, and the shop bill for rebuild and you can combine those as a total price for depreciation. This would be considered equipment restoration or betterment, since the rebuild would likely cost as much or maybe more than the purchase price of the equipment. 2 main pros to this approach. 1 you can still depreciate the full amount of an expensive asset. 2 you get a less complicated easier to maintain more reliable piece of equipment that you have already had and know what to expect from it. A new piece of equipment is such a quality and reliability crap shoot these days.
@@je862 I was talking more about excavators, specialized mulchers etc like they run on this channel. Tends to be bigger equipment or more specialized equipment where that makes more sense. But also big manufacturing equipment like large lathes, mills, boring machines, presses, punches, rollers etc can be rebuilt. The older machines tend to have more iron in them and have better rigidity and are more robust. CNC can be done also buy buying old CNC machines and then planning to do a controls upgrade. Lots of options but it tends to work out best when you can hire a guy to specialize in the repairs you need, and have enough work to keep him busy for a year or so. And it also helps to be an established business where you can cashflow the repairs. Its a bit harder when you starting out from scratch.
Just 1,943 zero emission medium and heavy duty vehicles are on the state's roads, and nearly all of them are buses. About 300 are zero-emission commercial trucks, and less than 90 are electric semi-trucks, as of october 2022
I live in California also, I’m sixth generation on the land we farm, new emissions laws for ag equipment is pushing out the small family farms, along with droughts and what not. Moving to southern Oregon.
Don’t get your hopes too high 😬we have paid the fees and gotten stickers for our 550 just to turn around and get a letter 3 months later saying it cannot be on the street and it will be fined per mile if they can prove it’s being driven still. They will not reimburse us for the registration fees either. It’s such a joke.
bottom line, when they put this into effect, the car market will tank, the economy will crash, and they will turn around and undo it and make excuses other than "we couldnt do it"
Yep the 3 big county's around Portland have some laws on the 1.5 tons from the early 90s. But yet in the same county, a 1 ton with the same early IDI 6.9/7.3 engine is just fine.
Solar is based on your monthly average over a year. Calculate it out so it’s break even. The power company doesn’t pay crap for any extra. Makes it not worth it
Wait till more people start seeing the issues with battery life especially in colder climate or you know the whole bursting into a ball of flames after an accident multiple times so much so they had to flip the car over and just let it burn! 😂 Electric needs a lot of work before it can even be a thought
I own an EV (2023 Bolt EV) and can happily answer any questions one has, but a big note that I'll make right away, there's a reason I kept my old '94 Silverado.
Why don't you guys then try to force your party, the R party, to quit trying to destroy the Labor Movement? Why don't you guys try to kick out those who want to destroy Social Security? Why don't you guys try to force the abject racists out of your party? If you accomplish those things, many many of us WILL stop voting for Democrats.
Put solar on your roof??? Let me get this strait. First, you put an energy source your roof that make holes in your roof, that may lead to leaks or other damage to your roof. OK... That's not the end of the world. Second, you put an energy source on your roof that one cannot turn off till the sun goes done. So if there is a failure of that electrical system on the roof that is the ignition source of a fire, that ignition source continues to feed the fire. No thank you. Third, when the solar panels fails, and they do fail over time, what is the disposal cost of those panels with all their nasty chemicals. There are better ways make power that do not compromise the safety of a person's home.
Why does the government get to decide what the “times” is though? It’s supposed to be based on the free market.
@@livewithnick they can try, but we’ll see what really happens haha
they don't want everyone on electric cars they want to limit cars to only the rich.
Few things going on here and you can actually look it up for yourself.
1. The government doest care about you. It only cares about its own pockets. Greatest words to fear are "im from the government and im here to help

I want to see them try and use an electric truck to pull a load of logs out the woods or move around a D10 see how far that goes on a charge
1 trailer for the batteries, 1 for the logs.

It doesn’t have to make sense, it’s about control. God bless you Sam, you are welcome here in Idaho. Let California fail then head back to rebuild.

There's no fixing that dumpster fire of a state, truth hurts.
You will never ever hear me say democrats in California or elsewhere are smart or practical.
If California bands them then their farming industry, construction industry, back up generators at hospitals, just to name a few, all go in the trash

Now add thousands of 240 volt, 50 amp chargers to the system... no way.

RIP.
Sounds like someone's been paying attention in science class. Too bad the politicians didn't. Too bad the many of voters haven't either.
I think the hope is that graphene will finally be mass produced to make graphene super capacitors. But even then I think it’s just some publicity stunt. Worst comes to worst they just push the goal post back and say “2050 no more diesels” and etc.

100% agree 5th generation in the family business in Eastern rural NY thinking about leaving the state but haven't decided where I would go.
Or Washington State.

Hey man, thanks for all the content. As far as the registration renewal for the older trucks, I’m thinking they probably can’t actually stop renewing it. They can make us think they can, so hopefully we’ll just get rid of the stuff, but at the end of the day they’ll keep sending renewal papers.

Not to mention the DEF is Urea or Nitrogen which also comes from natural gas wells.
You’re absolutely right about the grid not having enough capacity…….I mean look at how many mandatory rolling blackouts we’ve had. I always say with countries overseas being so pollution heavy, it's like an HOA telling you not to have your garbage can out x amount of days whilst living next to a garbage dump. They should really focus on the big problem and not micromanage the hardworking honest people. Are we perfect? No, however I think there are bigger fish to fry, but they won't. Just my opinion.
Never mind whether or not an electric truck can tow a heavy load for a long enough distance, what about AFFORDING one ????
Many people that have never been to california Bash on california thinking it all looks like SF and LA when in reality most of it is actually country. the tahoe area is gorgeous (i live in on the central coast) i really don’t think that there are many places that have better landscapes than california.
it is tough having to deal with all the regulations and everything though, i hear ya on that, it really sucks.
Cali as a whole is miserable because of those cities. Oregon is the same. Most of the state is amazing with beautiful areas to live and good people living there. But they are the slaves to that state. Free tax revenue with 0 representation.
Glad your happy, stay there
@@ricksmith4736 looking at your other comments in this channel you seem to be quite the pessimist, you swear everyone in california is a liberal
clearly you don’t know anything about the state.
@@payloadperformance9706 Another typical Californian telling everyone how wanted he is... LOL.. I met THOUSANDS of you as you took over and ruined my home state of Oregon...
@@ricksmith4736 thousands of me? oh i’m sorry i didn’t realize there was more than a single me.
what makes you think i was trying to say i’m “wanted” i never even suggested that.
you have a predisposed biased mindset where you think everyone from california is the same, all democrat blue voters that don’t work.
You must be one of those boomers that believes everything they see on fox get over yourself.
This bankrupts American trucking and carrier businesses based in California, yet NAFTA allows for the dirtiest unmaintained trucks to continue operating in California as long as the trucks are Mexican-registered. How does this make any sense?
It isn't supposed to make sense. It is all about destroying us as an industrial society.
Hallelujah you've found a freedom conservative state!! People are fleeing the Leftard states in droves .. Unfortunately many bring their Toxic Leftism with them
@@100pyatt There are some but the locals along with the new Conservative residents that fled, will let them know that they ( libtards) may need to go back. However even more aggravating is there are liberals that live here and were born here, not many though. For the majority, most are gun totin God loving folks.

California citys one X one are no longer issuing permits for new gas stations,
remodel permits for existing gas stations & expansion permits for existing gas
stations. So, to keep our old diesels running we all need to learn how to make
bio diesel at home.
!
Put a Tesla badge on the truck and a Radio Flyer sticker on the trailer. It all about how it self-identifies. Come on Edison Motors!
You are a smart man. I lecture young people on making it a habit to make conscious decisions weighing the pros and cons of each decision. By doing this on small things makes the big decisions easier. By the way, children are the biggest blessings we are given. May 2023 be a prosperous year for you.
Thank you I appreciate that
Amen Bro.
It's about control. Control food, mobility, and healthcare and you have complete control of a population.
BUUUUT.... for the solar, California is going from NEM 2 (Net Electric Metering-for those wondering, look up how it works) where, as a customer you get around $.30 KWH for your power generation..... to the new NEM 3 where you get $.03 KWH for the power you generate......

Also, love my 97 F350 diesel. No smog, works hard, will outlive the new cars.
Government should never have the power to force this change, when nothing is wrong or evil. The government is FOR the PEOPLE, BY the PEOPLE, and we should get together to get rid of this power grab.
Also, only CONGRESS is supposed to pass laws, not the EPA, not CARB.
Love the variety in content, early utube w guns , atvs and old truck.were still w u and the crew, keep it up👍🇺🇸

Just found the channel recently, I think you are doin awesome! Keep up the great work!
It’s becoming harder and harder to believe in things, and still feed your family. You made the right choice.
Leftism is so Toxic
Forrestry equipment is exempt. I’m ok there. You have to repower a machine or truck to be complaint. Some cases that works but not all
@@je862 I was talking more about excavators, specialized mulchers etc like they run on this channel. Its a bit harder when you starting out from scratch.
im working on getting my stuff sorted so i can move out of california. emissions, utilities, taxes, just makes you work harder for less.
I’m a 5th generation Californian. I left California for rural Florida in 2016 and I am so glad I did.
Thanks man, your points are well presented and on point in my book.
They will just move the goal posts back the closer it gets to their cut off dates. They know it’s never going to happen.
Sounds about right
There's 2 of those old crew cabs for sale on the side of I-15 in Central Utah.
Saw them on the 13th of January.
I believe they were in Fillmore..
bottom line, when they put this into effect, the car market will tank, the economy will crash, and they will turn around and undo it and make excuses other than "we couldnt do it"
Yep the 3 big county's around Portland have some laws on the 1.5 tons from the early 90s.
But yet in the same county, a 1 ton with the same early IDI 6.9/7.3 engine is just fine.
If you do solar go 2 or 3 times more panels for those cloudy days. It'll help out with low sunlight days.

What about all those diesel powered yachts they have at in California how are they going to be affected.
Yet another reason to stay clear of California
The reason the mopar don’t transfer is as you said, It’s out if most peoples price range

Just give them what they want . Stop all supplies. And deliver it in solar power golf cart..
Just switch the 4 & the 5 around and if questioned say sorry I am "Dyslexic " 😂
Ill always watch every episode bud. I been here since the beginning 😎🙌 Keep up the hard work and do what you think best.
Just get a older pre 75 body and stick a diesel in it that what I’m doing I got a 68 Jeep wagoner and putting a Cummins in it and the epa can suck it😂
The rig behind me in the whole video is doing the same thing 😂🙈
In my area solar does NOT make sense Our electric is .09/KWH and it would take a 1/4 acre of panels to (maybe) meet my needs
Well u could always buy for export I'm in NC & would love a mostly unmolested single cab 4×4 long bed preferably 5 spd
Power plants use diesel for back up generators. My dad used to fix them all the time 16 cylinder diesel’s
Laughable how far folks jump to try and make points haha they are held on by magnets. And the banners have and off switch😂😂
