    Great review, I went out a purchased the unit. Received the power station today, charged it for about 7 hours until 100%. I was going to be using the unit this weekend so I first tested it with my 180W electric blanket. It was calculating the run time and about 10 seconds into the test there was a flash of light, loud crackling sound and smoke. I quickly turned off the unit and had an error code of 0004. I turned the unit back on and pushed the 120 v output button with no blanket plugged in. Once again there was a flash, crackle, & smoke. I just sent off an email to their warranty department, since they said I have 30 days to get a replacement unit. I will now see if they will charge for shipping, and honor their warranty

    Thank you for taking the time to do the review. I was tempted by the larger number 1200, but also turned off ($$$). I went with the 320 Wattfun (peak 640W) because I understood it to have all the same features, but a much smaller price tag, but still the ability to run a fridge/AC because of the spike/peak feature (to 640W). To be candid, I say all this because I value the comments of the RUclips community over the manufacturer claims, or my own flawed grasp of science. So, that is to say, if I need to reverse course, or add this, then Oops I'll do it again, and get the Oupes.

    I’m about to purchase my first power station and appreciate this video, as well as all your other videos. I’m still leaning bluetti EB70s. Mostly used for camping to run a fridge and diesel heater. Thoughts on the ocupes 1100 v bluetti70s?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +3

      I really like my Bluetti EB70 and I personally think it's going to last longer than the Oupes 1100. Bluetti also has a better warranty / customer support. I think the batteries inside the EB70 are also better quality so you should get more life-cycles in the long run.
      You do get slightly more capacity with the Oupes and you can run slightly larger loads. Just it just doesn't feel as sturdy or durable as the EB70. If a family member wanted to purchase one of the other I'd feel comfortable recommending the EB70s. You can try this discount code to see if it takes any additional cost off the EB70: JasonEB70

    this might be a good one for emergency or for camping for one night. seems like the solar panels aren't going to be able to keep up if you want to pull full capacity on this thing.
    if it's not going to pull 900wh, maybe it shouldn't be advertised as such, perhaps the cells are rated at this and there is conversion losses they aren't declaring. perhaps it would be better to advertise this as a 800wh unit and when it gets full capacity no one hates on them for it.
    agreed the charging speed leaves alot of questions and more should consider aiming for 0.5c charging and 1c discharging. instead we see more than 1c discharging and about 0.2c charging.
    thanks again for your great videos. i look forward to seeing the next one on your list!
    small nit pick, when you were showing the solar panel with its hidden kick stand your face was half cut off by the camera angle and it looked a bit weird, suggest aiming a bit higher so your whole face is in frame, or closer in?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +1

      I agree that maybe it should have been advertised to have less capacity, it still would have taken a long time to charge though.
      Thanks for the nit pit. By the end of some of these videos I'm ready to move on and I let it slack....I should have slightly zoomed in during that solar panel section, I wasn't really worried about my face being in the shot or not ...but it didn't look great being half in the shot LOL

      lol at least you understand that it didn't look great, but even though you are ready to move on, it might be a good idea to keep the content looking professional, you do great work on this, so it just felt out of place having half of your face chopped off.

      I seen those videos about your Oupes issues, their support group saying your glass solar panel being the issue is just flat out wrong...The input voltage is like 12-30volts so ANY panel within that range should work on the PPS right? I used glass panels just fine on my model. I'm guessing the MPPT charger is broken on your unit. I've had good experiences with both my 600w and 1100w models but I know that isn't the case for everyone. I guess that's the toss up when you go with a "budget model". The lack of real support and the risk of getting a broken unit or it breaking faster. Fingers crossed mine keep working!

    Jason, I’ve heard you mention PET versus ETFE solar panel coatings in other videos. How do you know the coating by looking at it? You got me curious, now I want to check my Paxcess 120 watt panel.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +2

      Companies will usually advertise ETFE since it's better. If the panel has PET, they usually don't mention it since it's an older technology. PET is a smooth surface that's a matte coating. No texture at all. ETFE is a slightly rough surface with a 'bubble like' /bumpy texture. It feels slightly rubbery when you scratch it with your fingernail. Pretty easy to tell the difference once you see both.

So whenever you aren't using it, it's good to long press the power button to shut it off because the screen just goes to sleep and the outputs could still be enabled.

  • @EfficientRVer
    @EfficientRVer 2 года назад +2

    Was the charging time from observing it charge from 0 to 100, or calculated from the observed charging watts and claimed capacity of 992Wh? If the latter, they would have scored 8.33 instead of 6.33, if they'd just conservatively called it 800Wh. They would have exceeded the 85%, and they would have met the 5 hour charging. But of course they would have suffered on price per alleged Wh. Maybe they chose the wrong poison in a battle between engineering and marketing departments.
    Not that it matters to me. I'd never buy a power station in 2022 without USB-C PD input, and in the case of a unit this big, probably multiple PD inputs or at the very least, a full 100W PD in.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      I discharged and charged this many times throughout my testing. The charge time from 0-100 percent was around 5.5 hours for the wall charger and around 6.2-6.5 hours for solar panels (depending on the solar conditions). It seems both the smaller 600wh model and the larger 1800wh model both charge MUCH FASTER than this one....who knows why it's the odd duck in the family! It would have scored much better if the charging wasn't an issue.
      I agree on the PD input, thanks for your feedback Hybrid Life!

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      Thanks John! So my 1000 watt microwave actually pulls 1800 watts from the wall.... so it appears the "1000 watt" rating is only for the cooking aspect of the microwave and not the total power draw. One way to find out how much power your smaller microwave would pull would be to plug in an 'AC watt meter' inline with the power cord and the wall outlet to see how many watts it pulls total while cooking. I'm guessing it will be near 1200 to 1300 watts so it might not work on this power station. Does that make sense? You can use something like this to test any appliance for power draw: amzn.to/3DKF74B (its what I use to test in my videos)

    Is it safe to have higher rated panels say two of the Balder 120w panels hooked to it? If not which pack would you recommend ?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +3

      Yes, you can use two 120watt Balder panels on this power station.
      You can actually hook as many panels in PARALLEL as you want since the voltage won't exceed the 30v input limit. The power station will limit the power to around 160 watts or so. This is called over paneling so you'll get 160 watts more consistently on slightly hazy or cloudy days.
      I did this in the video using two 180 watt solar panels in parallel (check out the solar testing portion of the video). However, you NEVER want to put two panels in series with a small power station like this since it will go over 30volts and hurt the built in control board.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Год назад

      You're pulling more power than the inverter can handle, you'll need a larger power station to run those appliances or use a gas stovetop for cooking. My 1000w microwave pulls 1800w from the wall so I doubt that 600w microwave only pulls 600w.

  • @jasonbroom7147

    You've really got to wonder about a product that only pulls 80% on the DC side. When you see a very specific watt-hour rating, like 992, it generally means they are basing that on the most optimistic capacity number possible. Instead of rating the overall battery on resting or nominal voltage, they are rating based on the recommended charge voltage. That's about the only way you will get such a huge discrepancy between rated capacity and DC discharge numbers. I also do not like the use of "1100" in the naming of this product. It does not have 1100wh of capacity (more like 800wh) and the inverter certainly isn't rated for 1100 watts of continuous output, so where do they come up with that number for the name? This kind of disingenuous naming and rating of products makes consumers suspicious, and rightfully so!
    Your spreadsheet is really coming together nicely. I like the changes you made to the grading scale. I have the Energizer 240 (predecessor) to the 320, and it ticks all of the same boxes, at 1/3 less capacity.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +1

      Hey Jason, I agree with your points. Why lie about capacity and mislead people with a name that isn't true? I have sent them an email asking why it has much less capacity than advertised and also the name of the power station should be Oupes 1000 as to the inverter only being rated at 1000w continuous. Thanks for your feedback!

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      I've seen this before with the Bluetti AC200p. When the battery voltage is higher (30V+) it takes more background power to regulate it down to 12v so you'll see less output. The test also ran for a very long period of time. You'll get the most efficient DC output from power stations that are direct LiFePO4 output and not regulation.

    Does the BMS have a low temperature shut off?

    I saw it at the end on the product label, but it might be good to point out the input charging voltage range. This one has a 30V maximum, so you can't hook up panels in series; too bad.
    I'd like you to be more harsh on power stations that do not produce their claimed capacity, especially on the DC where there are no inverter losses. As an objectively measurable number, companies who claim notably higher are LYING, and do not deserve anyone's business. Accordingly, your dollars per watt-hour should reflect ACTUAL capacity, not CLAIMED capacity. Chinese products seem notorious for this; Project Farm (another good channel) did a comparison of Li-Ion batteries, and the Chinese ones universally sucked, often providing nowhere near their claimed capacity (one as high as 9800mAH!). I'd like to see a minimum of 95% of claimed capacity, and wouldn't the occasional 103% be nice?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад +1

      That's why I made my grading system and the grade on this power station shows its not the best option, still might work for someone though since most other stuff tested okay. Every use case is different.
      Lousy charging speeds and lousy 'actual' capacity were the main issues. I plan to add a "price per wh actual capacity" to my spreadsheet since I have had multiple requests to add it.

    Impressive review. Rivals those at HoboTech. But all this a bit frustrating. New to this but spending too much time trying to buy, since I only now consider LiFeNo4 options. Pity that Jackery is late to this game.
    Do you recommend a best one, at about 1000 W? Could I get the small 500W version and run them together - that way getting more options?
    There are videos showing how to greatly improve the speed from standard charging methods (ruclips.net/video/6_1oX3KPmM4/видео.html). Might you endorse this method, and would it work with this Oupes 1000?
    Hopefully your nice 10 element spreadsheet indirectly includes recognition, or not, of the phosphate battery aspect, which seems to make buying a ‘legacy’ lithium system obsolete…?
    Thanks . . . loyal fan.

      The max input on this Oupes 1100w is 200 watts, so no trickery with using higher voltage. That trick does work with most other power stations though when trying to charge off a DC source, I made a video about something similar called "EB55 and EB70 charging tips".
      Mentioning size of power stations, they don't really have many 1000wh models on the market. Using two 500wh power stations at the same time is possible but you can't combine them together to get a 1000 watt output. It seems they focus on smaller portable units around 300wh - 700wh, and then they jump right up to 1500wh - 2000wh ..... and above. I am hoping Bluetti comes out with a EB100 (1000wh model soon) since I think there is a need for one.
      The Oupes 1100 comes in at a great price but remember you usually get what you pay for. The slow charging and lower capacity are reasons for the lower price.

    A special discount if you buy direct from China and they can track if this RUclipsr delivers sales...or just get it on Amazon US at the same price but have Amazon's protection and Prime returns (but they make less money). Reviewing free stuff received because he game them a good review last time ? not exactly the best kind of review.It's a shame as the review method looks quite good...but I can't trust it unless he bought it himself from a regular supplier ( Like Project Farm does!).

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  2 года назад

      My reviews are honest, you can watch every single one and see. I tell it how it is and won't recommend the product unless I would buy it myself. I have purchased some of these power stations with my own money, but yes, this one was provided in exchange for a review, they didn't pay me one dime. I'm sure they didn't like me talking down on their product either. I doubt many people will purchase this due to the slow charging and less than rated capacity as mentioned in the video.

      @@Jasonoid Thanks for your reply; I have no reason to doubt you personally but it's an endemic problem. The discount just makes it suss especially when it's not a real discount (same as Amazon price). Aside, their policies are a bit useless: They guarantee satisfaction, as long as you don't use it: " If you are unsatisfied for any reason with your purchase, you can initiate a return...item must be unused" so what does that cover: I'm not satisfied with the polystyrene packing... the delivery guy was ugly... 🙂 Another reason to buy via Amazon.

    Jason - is the $680 pricing still available on this unit? Your code is making the price $765. If I can get it for $680 I’m going to take a chance on it. Their support seems a little sketchy - I called their tech line earlier and was answered with a “hello” and a “can I get your number and call you back? I’m busy right now…….” To which she hasn’t called back.
