Just completed the break-in period and so far the unit is operating perfectly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y . I was amazed by just how quiet this little guy is. I kept having to walk down the driveway to the generator to make sure it was still running. In fact, the most annoying noise coming from the set-up is a high-pitched chirping coming from the pressure regulator on the propane line. I suppose it's possible my other propane-powered generator's pressure regulator is making the same noise, but the generator itself is so loud I've never noticed it. Build quality so far is excellent. My only nit is the service panel is a little tricky to remove. I feel like I might break off one of the plastic tabs when bending it back. I probably just need to work out the technique, so will not hold it against Champion.Next week I intend to fully load the unit to charge a large battery pack and will update this review if there's any problem (3000W continuous load vs a rated 3100W capacity while using propane). Absent any trouble there, I'm 100% pleased with this purchase.

I got 2 1500w pecron generators on Amazon because they priced lower than other brands, and buy 2, I got 5% off for each of them. They are good as the video showed to you. I just want to mention a fact that I charged it with my 800w solar panel and it charged 380w to the pecron, filled it with in 3 hrs. The specs stated that it could be charged at higher rate but 380w was the max the solar can output on that given day. So I believed Mr Byte my Bit's review was honest. I boiled water with 1300w kettle, grilled chicken with Ninja pot just to test the pecron. I liked the performance of Pecron. I also liked his English because his is better than mine.

Quality OBSOLETE Li-Ion cells, to be precise. Don't waste your money on inferior technology. ALWAYS buy LiFePo4 batteries, and you will get many YEARS more service. There are many brands that use the new technology. Jackery is not one of them. What's the point of it being well made if it dies after 500 cycles? Bluetti is also well built quality, and lasts for at least 3000 cycles, with over 5000 being more common. That's TEN times longer. For the SAME price. Don't get ripped off by Jackery. Don't be that guy.

My hope is to charge the power bank thru my 12v outlet while driving, and solar when stationary. Any thoughts? Both will run not only fridges, but also medical equipment without cutoff issues. Other brands have the newer battery tech as well, but watch reviews for them...some brands and models have had issues maintaining either their AC or DC loads for extended periods. Bluetti is pricier, but has no flaws like those. When it has to work, the extra cost is worth it.

Unfortunately the inverter is only 300 watts, it's not a pure sine wave inverter, and it can only generate 200 watts. Plus it's a lead acid battery that shouldn't be used more than 50% and it needs to be charged at least monthly in a wall outlet. It would definitely work for some people but I don't think it would work for most vanlifers.

Extremely poor. The Pecron is also a terrible purchase, as it is also using old, far less durable Li-Ions. They are also far more volatile, and charge much more slowly. For those who are going the Bluetti route, their older EB 150 and EB240 had serious flaws NO better known reviewers spotted or talked about. If a shadow passed in from of the solar panels, power would drop. Shadow removed, the Bluetti's would not return to the previous power input level. You had to unplug the charging cord and then plug it back it back in to return to previous power levels. This is not good if you want to leave it to power a refrigerator. Clouds or kids pass in front of the panel your input drops and the battery runs out of power because of the loss of charger power. Build you own, it is cheaper and you can pick and choose components and limit your costs.
Research if the newer units have the same issue. Bluetti CS told me they fixed it on the latest models of the 150 and 240. But that was not true. I had to return the 240, twice for the problem I wrote about here.

Bluetti has glitches in it's tech. And they are always odd things that there doesn't seem to be any reason for. Sometimes I think Bluetti sends out early production models to reviewers and is actually relying on them to tell them what is wrong; that seems to be their quality control. The Pecron has tested out consistently extremely well. Jackery now is aging tech. It's still a good product but I think it is over priced for its tech. Everybody is now rushing for faster charging, because that is really becoming important to consumers. Bluetti is trying to catch up, but Jackery hasn't really changed much. But the companies that are really pushing the market are allowing for much more solar to be input for charging purposes. That is now a huge advantage, to speed up solar charging.

I already have a Jackery E1000 and I actually think it is the better deal. I got mine for around $850 on one of their sales and they have free shipping (Not $150) and their customer support has been fantastic. One thing I can say about the Jackery, it charges pretty fast up to about 95% but then it takes a LONG time to charge from 99% to 100% due to their tapered charging close to maximum. It would be interesting to see them charging side by side up to 90% to see if there is really much difference.
One other thing you might want to check into is the type of power cells used. I know Jackery uses the best cells available at the time but some off brand power stations use cheap cells that work great for the first few months but then drop by 20-25% of capacity. My Jackery E1000 is still at 97% of original capacity after a year so I am happy.

Appreciate your review. I too am willing to take a chance and buy a cheaper product when an industry leader may be keeping their prices up and resting on their laurels. But there are some cases I still think penny wise, pound foolish still applies. I've been using an Ego Powerstation for some time now as a back up and to keep my travel cooler cold since I have enough Ego batteries for all my lawn equipment. But basically, the Ego Powerstation has been a troublesome, large, bloated piece of junk and has just about given up the ghost (One cell station only works intermittently and the display is dying. So I'm looking for a replacement and had been considering the Jackery 1000. While I was initially excited about saving some $ with the pecan E1000 plus the fact it seemed to be marginally better in some performance tests you did, I've watched other videos and they all have a common theme; They receive products that are broken in some way, missing parts or have manufacturing defects that are obvious. The fact you got a bad power cord and some of the labeling was peeling off should be a warning sign of quality control problems in what is inside. Like the Ego, it may work well for a bit, but I want something that will die because the batteries have been cycled to their lifetime limits or beyond. Not because of some stupid manufacturing defect. Also, Jackery has the 2-year warranty as opposed to 12 months. I think that's worth the extra money for the core of an emergency backup system. I am buying a solar cell bundle that's not the Jackery product. But now we're talking about a $200 product as opposed to a $300 one so I'm willing to take a chance on that.

Pecron seems okay and seems to perform well in your initial tests. I'd be curious if it's still working a few years down the road after hundreds of charge cycles. I see it a little different on what I would purchase. Pecron has 1 year warranty while Jackery has a 2 year warranty and extends to 3 years if you register. I read that Jackery reserves some capacity in the battery that never gets issued to ensure a healthy cycle life of the lithium cells so that might account for the extra run time on the Pecron since the watt hours are so close. Jackery has a lot of R&D with their electronics and I think its a huge plus. The engineering put in gives them that confident warranty. Something as simple as an undersized resistor running a little hotter than normal could be the difference of electronic failure in a short time. That is one example of hundreds of parts that make up the guts of these systems. The last thing is the display. I've seen a comparison with the Jackery and a Bluetti outside and on a bright day you cant see anything on the black background display. The Jackery is totally visable and from farther away. I think for me I'll stick with the Jackery since it's an expensive purchase and hoping to get the best chance at keeping mine for a decade! But good luck with your Pecron.

Jackery batteries with constant use die in 8 months, Jackery replaced it, but bitter lesson.. Ask me how i know. I have one, it did. They are lithium ion. Buy the Bluetti, I have one of those too, its a 750 watthour. Much bigger than my Jackery. Dont buy a unit unless it has LifePO4 batteries (lithium IRON) as the batteries last 5x longer, and they are much less likely to flash fry like some have done. Just my experience.
EDIT: After looking at several units, it seems the Pecron might have LifePO4 batteries in some units. Cant say for sure about the one being reviewed. It states lithium, with no specific battery chemistry noted. Its a 50/50 shot.

@@rodx5571 I think what it comes down to is that these solar power stations are quite complex and have a lot of electronics and parts that can fail. I have two small Jackery's one is 3 years old and both work well like the day I bought them. The thing is I don't use them everyday. They are used for power outages, camping, outdoor tasks, on the patio when friends are over if someone needs some power. For my main battery system that I use daily, I have two 100ah LifePO4 batteries from Ecoworthy, the GoPower GP-ISW2000 inverter, Ecoworthy 30a MTTP solar charge controller and the Renogy 500A battery monitor all wired with Blue Sea Systems fuses and blocks in a heavy duty plastic storage bin so I can move the system around. The Eco Worthy LiFePO4 batteries are well rated and use a well known JBD BMS and 3000 cycle life EV cells. But that did not matter, after only about 5 charge cycles one of my batteries started cutting off charging before the battery was full indicating one cell group inside the battery has fallen out of balance and the BMS is cutting power to save them from damage. Point being LiFePO4 wont have a long life either if the electronics or usage conditions around it fail. Bluetti has electronic issues, when I was researching this last about a year ago I read there were some issues that worried me about having a bricked unit eventually. Bluetti Power Inc are also 1 star our of 5 with the Better Business Bureau. So I would not reply on that brand either unless your good with replacing your power station with your own money when it fails. Pecron maybe great but they are really a new company so would take more time for me to commit to them. At least with my larger system its modular where I can just replace a battery, the inverter, or charger if something fails.

Never took them below about 55-60% DOD. They did well but once they needed to be replaced I decided to try LiFePO4 based on all the benefits. I like that my 200ah of LiFePO4 is only about 50 lbs. 400ah of AGM is about 250 lbs for about the same usable capacity but I miss the simplicity of the AGM lead acid. I considered some of the high end lithium brands like Dakota Lithium and Battle Born but its just too much money if something goes wrong. So instead I spent half the money on batteries that have well known parts but are still an issue. My next move is to order a couple of Overkill solar BMS (which are a version of the JBD BMS) and a couple of their Bluetooth modules. I plan to take a heat gun to both my Ecoworthy batteries and crack them open and upgrade the BMS so I can see what each cell is doing on my phone. I think this is the only way I can safely know if my batteries are going to stay healthy and I can force them to balance with the app control if I notice them falling out of balance. Its just an endless money pit these battery systems. one thing I like a lot are my Go Power Pure Sign Inverters. I own 3 of them, the oldest dating back to about 13 years ago and they all still work to this day but I don't abuse them. I run them at 75% load in the worst case. Pecrons are cheap because it is very expensive to charge them with solar. You need a Minimum of 36volts. So one 18v 100 watt solar panel wont charge Pecrons. Also you have to use a proprietary MC4 to 4 pin aviation cable. This means you can only connect MC4 solar panels that provide a minimum of 36volts. Try finding a single 36v solar panel with MC4 connectors. Perron sales it for $400!!

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from but I just picked up a pecron e1000 for $600 on eBay which is $300 less than the Jackery. The input voltage for solar is 29.4 to 40 volts. There are many commercial rigid panels that meet that spec all with MC4 connectors. In fact, when I looked I ran across a solar company selling barely used Trina 250 watt panels for only $75 that are 36 volts. These were taking off a failed business close by and are only 2 years old.

For about the same price, I bought a diesel generator at auction from a power equipment rental company. I can run that heater for not 1 hour and 20 minutes on low, I can run it for 72 hours on high. Nice unit is a little larger, so you don't want to bring it indoors, as well as has exhaust and noise, but in an ice storm, it can keep your pipes from freezing and keep your freezer from thawing. The batteries are kind of expensive for how little power they hold. 1KWH with a capacity of 1KW isn't much. I can run a full 48 hours at 6KW, without needing to refill.

      Comparing some specs
$775 new diesel generator (Westinghouse WGen5300s)
5,300 running watts and 6,600 peak watts
Runs for up to 13.5-hours on a 4.7 Gal.
      weighing 143.3 lbs
      $899 New Jackery Explorer 1000
1,000 running watts and 2,000 peak watts
Takes about 8 hours to recharge with 2 100 watt solar panels
      22lbs + 18lbs solar panels
Unless you plan on moving around a lot a Diesel generator wins. However if these are your ONLY power options after a very long time the Jackery with solar panels would edge out a win in price because of the cost of fuel. Might be doing it wrong but I calculate (Price of diesel $3.30 a gal [varies wildly]) after 37.5 gallons your at the $900, but after ~159 gallons you are break even with the Jackery and it's over priced solar panels. Using a more normal price of 2 new 100 watt solar panels it would take 98 gallons before the Jackery would be the better deal. (Except the fact that the generator can power more things during that time.) So you might want to multiply the gallons by 5.3? Also things to note, you are getting about 2.9 hours per gallon of use.

An in a Blckout or Civil emergancy, all the noise your genny is making is gonna attract ALL attention you DONT want.

      @isettech 2 года назад

@@leemendenhall1966 I haven't found that to be a problem. Invite the neighbors over to warm up, grab a hot coffee, charge the cell phone, etc. I make sure I don't have cords long enough to go to the neighbors. This in turn will often result in openings for borrowing fuel from neighbors if the outage is extended. Someone with a diesel truck could extend 5 gallons to the neighborhood warming station. The genny is not much louder than a truck idling in a driveway and much quieter than a contractors type generator. A water cooled multi cylinder generator is much quieter than any non quiet model single cylinder air cooled generator. With a few contractor generators running in the area,, the light tower is not noticed. It is also too big for someone to pick up and load. I do park it turned around (noise to the street) and remove the hitch, so low chance of someone connecting and driving off with it.

    Who doesn't have a light ?

Having an extra light is just redundant.
I personally feel that there's No need for another light.

It uses a MC4 solar connector which is a standard on most new solar panels. The device comes with a cable that uses their connector to the device on one end and a MC4 on the other.

I'm just checking comments as I just picked up this Pecron E1000 for $600. You can use any solar panel as long as the voltage output is within the window of 29.4 to 40 volts. Many panels are under 29.4 volts so check before you buy. Many commercial rigid glass panels meet these criteria.

You didn't mention what type of battery it has, the same old one as Jackery with 500 cycles? Or a new one like Bluetti with 2500 cycles?
And lack of USB-C in 2021 is just a bummer for me.

    • @philc.9280
      @philc.9280 2 года назад

The pecron is the same as jackery with the lithium-ion technology. The newer competitors coming out have the lithium iron phosphate chemistry which as you said has>2500 cycles, faster charging times, and is more powerful. The downside is that they are heavier. Some weigh over 75 lbs. All the new models now have the USB-C

I think they only put the 3rd prong in the AC receptacles because many devices have them. There is no earth ground connection on any isolated power station so people using will have to hope they don't have something defective plugged in and get electrocuted. In a way the Pecron 2 prong receptacles are more accurate to what any of that type of power station is for AC output.

You can go online look up neck fan something that would hang around your neck like a little box what you do is you find a way to mount it on the side of your unit to constantly put in fresh cool air that way the internal fan never needs to kick on I got one that can last 38 hours on low which is perfect at far exceeds the battery life of my Jack

Thumbs up, thanks for the very good review. About the light on the devices. Sure one may use it if it’s there but if you a person who has a power unit like these and don’t have an other light source - cellphone, flashlight, LED lantern etc - or a light source you can plug in via USB then I don’t think this device is for you. It’s hardly a dealbreaker. I would go for the Pecron for the value for money, law of diminishing returns and not paying for a brand name.
