AC idle consumption so high. I calculated 630wh for 24h. Delta2 uses only 200wh. I’m in Ukraine and it’s very crucial when powering fridge, wifi and lights 24/7
Great review. I like this unit better than any other EcoFlow so far. I especially like the solar input changes, although I do not like the dual input on the MAX, because I can not feed 1000w into it through 1000watts of panels connected in serial. I really like the low idle drain on DC with this unit. You pointed out where this did not score a perfect 10 because of the DC not being able to hit 150w for diesel heaters. One different use case is that I wish each DC output were separate so I can run 2 DC electric blankets. I guess this could also be solved by a higher total output. The thought is that I want more DC output for more freezer, CPAP, and electric blankets. I am still quite bothered that EcoFlow does not include solar cables anymore. It would not cost them that much to include it and will cost me more to buy one. They are going to the extra cost of improving solar input, so obviously they believe people care about solar. Thanks again for another great review.
You could probably get away with using a 12v splitter and running two DC electric blankets, they only pull around 50 watts each so that would be near 100w total. I hope someday they put a higher DC output on their smaller models.... I'd be happy with a 15 to 20 amp port, good for 180w to 230w or something :)
Great review! Glad to see those 140 watt PD ports and the 2 separate MPPT solar controllers as well. EcoFlow is really going all out with updating their entire line of power stations. I saw a review of one of the new River 3 series where the AC efficiency for loads of 100 watts was almost 95%! I guess to make the Delta 3 plus perfect, it would need two battery connectors and a 30 amp DC output, but they are 95% there. EcoFlow is also supposed to launch a new product starting today. Wonder what it will be? I suggested the EcoFlow MicroWAVE on their channel and got a few laughs:)
I agree, EcoFlow needs to allow for more DC output! Even if it was just a 15 amp output I'd be happy, just need 150 watts! An XT60 15 amp port would give us about 180 watts. I think it's their new 3000 smart generator. Johnny's Weekends has been testing that out and he put out his video on that today.
Another reason I chose the Pecron e1500lfp. For about the same price... 12-18 v and 32-95 volt solar inputs. 2200 watt inverter. 1536 Wh. I've had it only about a week and absolutely love it. Only thing, it is a little heavy at 40 lbs.
My original Delta 2 stopped charging via car charger 12v. After returning 3 times it remains broke. Solar charging no problem. Customer service has been responsive.
@@Jasonoid Extremely annoying to go to FedEx Ground. Customer service does respond within 48 hours. Also… great review. I appreciate your work on a wide variety of options and products.
The high AC idle consumption and the low DC output kill it for me, but thanks as always for your thorough review. A video idea: Best PPS for camping vrs. best PPS for home backup. Which would you choose for each?
Pecron E1500LFP is great for camping. It's a good size with 1500wh and the 30 amp DC output! It's got some decent solar too! Best home backup option is the Ecoflow Delta Ultra hands down! The Bluetti AC500 and Pecron E3600LFP, and Anker F3800 are all good contenders too. Can't forget the EF Delta Pro 3 either! Haha
Disappointed all these companies limit the solar input voltage to 60V, impossible to do a 3S setup. Those newpowa panels jason have been discontinued for the past year. The only panel that comes close is the Calpha 200w VOC@ 20.1V. The flipside 1000w solar for 2 inputs is a nice trade off. Kudos to ecoflow for allowing the compatibility with the previous models expanadion battery's.
Luckily they allow 15 amps so doing a 2S2P config isn't horrible. If you picked up some affordable 150w to 175w panels, wired them in a 2S config you could get the 500w. The other option would be to find some residential panels locally, 275w to 350w for really cheap and wire those in parallel together on each port. With a portable unit like this I'd probably use one port for car charging with the XT60i cable for 185w and solar on the roof.
I did a continuity test on my EcoFlow XT-60i cables, The solar cable ties the signal pin to the ground which enables the full current, the 12v cable ties the signal pin to the hot which limits the current to the car charging current set in the app. If you made your own cable (with appropriate wire gauge) hardwired to your battery you could charge at around 400w assuming your alternator can keep it's voltage high under a 30 amp load.
@@Jasonoid Just stumbled over these units yesterday and appreciate the reviews. It does seem that this is a great unit except for the high AC idle current and the limited DC output. Trying to decide whether these are deal breakers, considering this as a power source for our old camper van (in addition to the emergency and UPS options). Would it be possible to use their battery expansion connector to get more DC, probably needs an external DC/DC converter)? What voltage is it? I’m assuming the BMS would still work to protect the battery.
I'd be interested to see how it stands up in price. The non plus model doesn't have 1000w solar nor the 140w usb ports. It should still be fairly similar though.
@@Jasonoid I'm not so interested in the 1,000W solar and USB ports. I obtain more than enough power already via my Ecoflow bifacial Solar panels or the Ecoflow 800W alternator charger. Both the Plus and normal versions don't differ in their charging via the Ecoflow alternator, so I'm more interested in the price. If it's a lot cheaper than the Plus version then that's more likely what I'll go for. The smaller Plus extra battery is nice, but the original Delta 2 extra batteries have already dropped dramatically and the Refurbished ones are less than half price.
@@Globetrotter-1 the biggest upgrade in my opinion are the fans! They are hardly noticeable. The older Delta 2 fans are so loud. It's such a good change!
@@Jasonoid Yes, that would be a bonus, although the Delta 2 fans rarely turn on when it's powering the fridge in my car and I sleep close to it all year. The 12V compressor fridge/freezer actually makes more noise, but thankfully it's only a gentle purr and only for a few minutes per hour. So the quieter Ecoflow Plus wouldn't make any difference unless I bought a quieter fridge! 😂
I’m glad I bought the version 2 I really like my plugs coming out the back I don’t want the AC plugs in the front. While I can see the front being useful in some instances but I don’t travel with them much so The outlets being in the back are a plus.
See I prefer the front. I keep my batteries on a server rack style storage. So quickly being able to plug in things works better for me. Guess it depends on the use case.
I was going to line up for buying one of these, but a couple of concerns are giving me pause. The fans are super quiet, but do they do a sufficient job of cooling? Are they the same size as on the Delta 2 and just running slower? Tthe AC Inverter is already hungry enough on the Delta 2, but it seems that the Delta 3 Plus is significantly higher. Unless it is automatically switched on and off on demand it makes me believe a River 2 Pro (768Wh) will run a small fridge longer than the Delta 3 Plus.
This is was a really great review. I just watched the Jackery one that you did that was equally complete and informative. Thanks for what you do! Where is your information home base? Web site or social community?
Thanks for the great review as always! I just about had my mind made up to get the Dabbsson dbs1000 pro, but now this has me wondering. I remember the comparison video you with the 3 you mentioned, but also one with the dbs, and it came out ahead because it did the one thing that this didn't, by allowing over 150 watts on the 12 volt, meaning able to run a diesel heater. I still think it's cheap of Ecoflow to not supply a SOLAR charging cable with a SOLAR charging station! 😏 We greatly appreciate the time you put in for us. Be safe all!🙏
Hmmmmmm, tough decision! The Dabbsson was a good option but this one seems much more refined. I just heard that Pecron is coming out with a new E1000lfp with 1024wh and a ~2000w sized inverter. I'll be excited to see how it stacks up against these previous models.
@Jasonoid Oh wow! Thanks for telling me! I'll definitely be waiting for a while longer then. I just got the Pecron e1500lfp and absolutely LOVE it! I did take those Blaze Orange corner bumpers off and dyed them black with some Rit dye...So now I don't only LOVE it, I'm INFATUATED with it! Might just get me another 1500. Lol Thanks buddy!
This is on the low end suitable for refrigerator during an outage. That is the justification I am looking for. That is my target for one of these and this would barely make the grade. Just a slight bit more power to run it, at least, through the night. I really like how they listen about design changes. Thanks Jason another great evaluation. Always good.
As always Mr. Jason, great video. Love this new Delta 3. If I ever bought it I could finally use my 2 Ecoflow 160W solar panels and my 2 Ecoflow 220W bifacial panels on the same unit. I love this size unit with the 1800W inverter as I own 2 Delta 2's. My ideal unit would be one with a 1500W or 1800W inverter and a 2KW battery capacity. I believe this would make for a better efficient unit that would be able to run a full size residential unit for a minimum of 24 hours straight during an emergency where running everything else is not important but just being able to keep food from spoiling as many will experience around the coastal areas during hurricanes or other major Mother Nature disasters. Keep up the great work.
@@Jasonoid thanks its my 4th unit, to go with my delta mini, delta 1300 and delta 2..... Do you have a link to the solor panel used in the testing. Didn't see anything in the description.
Great video --- very comprehensive! Have you had experience with the DP3+ overheating? I thought I read something online that said it overheats easily? Thoughts?
@PazLeBon is that what they did with the Delta 2 max and River 2 pro? Seems that you just woke up today and decided to be a fu**ing prick for no reason?
Dont mind him, he's a little grumpy today lol... I don't have any word about the Delta 3 Max, unfortunately . I hope they plan on releasing one with similar upgrades.... Maybe 150v solar input? We can hope it would have the same solar as the DP3, 1600w 150voc! I asked about it and they didn't give me any clues it was coming out soon.
@@Jasonoid me? lol maybe a little. was gonna add a delta 2 but more solar would be useful but they have pretty much doubled the price for double the solar input and that feels like a grab.. so now i don't want the delta 2 and can get much higher capacity for far less money. The website, spam, points nonsene etc is also offputting, like aimed at teenage gamers
Great video, I was wondering which solar panel to order and what cables, since one review said they got the Delta 3 Plus with the 220 W solar panel but no cables to connect the panels. Your thoughts?
The Ecoflow panels come with the solar connecting cables if you end up buying one. If you go with another solar panel option, you'll need to purchase an 'MC4 to XT60i adapter' to connect to this unit.
This video is just great! This variant is 10/10 for me, I don't care about the 150W output for the DC plugs. The review is comprehensive and according to my needs and expectations. I particularly love the discussion on solar charging with the solar panels.
Jason, were you able to test AVR on this unit? I plan on using it as a UPS most days, and would really like to know if the plugged in equipment will be protected from over voltage and brown outs.
Is the Delta 3 Plus Max Ultra Pro Extreme next? They've made this so confusing. Having just the Wh rating in the name would clarify it a lot, and all the batteries should be LiFePo.
Can't believe it took till now for that UPS functionality to land. But it's here now so I'm not complaining (anymore). I wonder if this means that these power stations will start disrupting datacenter UPS product lines! It certainly looks adequate for home use, the features are all there now including USB signaling, And the value will be unbeatable.
The game goes on ! Well, this is a welcome upgrade. I'm looking at the Bluetti competition as I need a mid size for my portable compressor fridge , to get frozen blueberries back from Costco to 100 miles out in the desert and my little ones run out of power ! So the competition appears to be the AC180 for $550. that has 1152 wh , 1800w inverter, and 500 watt dc input .... its 100 bucks less and will do the job...... keep at it Ecoflow !
There are lots of options in the category. You do have to pay more for the better features (double the solar charging, expansion battery support and upgraded USBc ports).
Just buy a LiTime Mini (normally around $250 and 19lbs) at 1280wh and run your fridge via DC directly from that. No parasitic loses from DC regulation or an AC inverter from one of these power stations.
Hey jason, you have sold me on my iceco apl 55! I love it! I have the original ecoflow delta however the fridge is not able to run for long periods using the dc output so i have to use the ac which is far less efficient. Would the the new delta 3 DC output be able to run my fridge? I love your videos btw!
Do you think it possible to continually power a freezer with about 400w of solar for extended period of time. This is why I was thinking about getting one. Fuel for generators gets hard to come by after storm hits.
Great vid. I actually hit the bell on you. 👍🏽 I love how the Delta Pro 3 battery can expand you to ~5 Kw. If only it could do the same with my delta 2.
Can this be hooked up to 30 amp/120 volt for RV use? It doesn't appear so, which would be too bad as I really wanted to use for chest freezer in emergency outage, and boondocking.
With an adapter connected into the power station you can get a 30 amp RV port: amzn.to/4ds58Wj Just be aware you'll be limited to the wattage of the inverter, 1800w, so you won't be able to pull 30 amps from it.
The Ecoflow unit offers much more extra accessories like the Ecoflow expansion batteries, alternator charger, wave 2 portable AC, and others! It also has up to 1000 watts input of solar and silent fans!
Will be even better in a few years when they move over to solid state batteries. The days of having to be connected to the grid under the stranglehold of big utility companies are well & truly numbered.
@@YouLookinAtMe-Bro semi solid state LFP batteries aren't really a thing. I'd take that with a grain of salt. I mean.... If you search for Semi Solid State LFP batteries on the internet nothing comes up.
Can you overpanel both solar plugins and use the additional wattage as draw? So if there’s 200w additional then you can charge at 100% and use the excess by plugging in something else?
Can you advise me? I have 2x LifePo4 Lithium batteries with 200AH. Can I attach solar panels directly to the batteries or do I need some kind of controller? I have 2x 200WT solar panals that I purchased with my solar generator. Any help would be appreciated.
you need a charge controller to for your batteries, you can't attach solar panels directly. the controller helps regulate how much power is going into the batteries for safety, prevents over charging.
Hmmmmm let's break it down.... the Delta 3 Plus has more solar charging and better USB ports. It also has much quieter fans and a faster UPS mode. I really like the ability to use the XT60i cable to charge fast off a 12v battery on the Delta 3 Plus, it was able to charge at 350w without any special converters. They both take expansion batteries, have good smart apps, and have 1800w inverters. The Anker is a little more compact on sizing vs the new Delta.
This battery station can't be combined with the EcoFlow car charger and an expansion battery (at the same time) correct? Hoping for a Delta 3 2kwh with more 12Vdc output
What’s the DC Idle consumption? I have a lot of usb devices, mostly in fact. How many watts does it take to run just the USB ports or all DC ports for a device like a usb router?
Thank you for responding I see that you let it sit with no load for 12hrs and read off the screen and from that inferred the parasitic draw. In simple terms I want to see how long a 2w-5w load can run like that of my router + HA + modem. Ecoflow support told me I should expect 160Wh of parasitic consumption everyday in my scenario but you tested at 60Wh? Quite a large difference!
Please do a test of the HID output function that is new in the Delta 3 Plus. While in UPS mode, the left hand USB-C port can be connected to a network attached storage device, a computer, or some firewalls to allow the peripheral to shut down before the power station runs out of power. Basically, the peripheral should see the specifications of the Delta 3 Plus like a UPS.
Wouldn't that require a special app for communication on the computer? The owners manual doesn't mention anything like that so I'm not sure my preproduction unit has that functionality yet.
In this video below I tested 19.8ms after the firmware update, still not quite fast enough for most desktops under a load: ruclips.net/video/opBLpcOWV0w/видео.html It's better than the original 30ms, but not near 10ms to keep all electronics running.
So if I understand this correctly. With the addition of the dual charging inputs, If I use two XT60i charging cables connected to my 12v vehicle accessory plugs I will achieve 350w charging power which would be approx. 100w less than if I was using the Pecron smart 500w charger? With only a 100w difference, it seems like this would be the better and easier route to go comparing these two scenarios?
👍 Nice job, thanks. I would guess that they don't add 30A is because it would take a ton of sales away from the Pro, $$$. I would buy one this size with 30A over the full, heavy Pro, and they know it.
I'd be happy with 150 watts from the 12v cig port. It would be even better if they threw in a 15 amp XT60 or a 20 amp XT output and it would be golden. It doesn't need to be the full 30 amp output.
@@Jasonoid All that would be nice for sure. I personally would use the 30 amp socket to plug in my small RV and dual run my 24v battery bank into the XT60 ports.
Isn't the Bluetti AC180 similar in spec but much cheaper? Just saw it yesterday for $499. Would be interested in hearing how these differ from one another. Thanks.
who needs usb outputs that much a unit this size better to just a get a smaller powerbank. eco flow milking folk with the prices lets be real. dont make them poor, but they are expensive
I appreciate that he was indepth on this unit but now im going to look into the one you suggested. I just need something for my food trailer to power my security system and alarm when its not in use. so I will look into this one for sure. BuT JASONOID you did a good job especially with the back up battery because the mdoel3 is expensive.
Great video!! Have you considered doing a video on using the 400W solar panel by Ecoflow? I am thinking about buying the Delta 3 and the 400W solar panel, but not sure if it is the best option.
I tested all the 400w portable panels in this video: ruclips.net/video/Y2uhKnHIUl4/видео.html I'd recommend a residential 400w glass panel for the best pricing right now. Just lean it up against your house, a fence, or shed to charge the power station.
Would you recommend this unit for tailgating? Would like to run a crokpot and maybe other small appliance like a small Keurig or microwave. Not all at the same time and not continuously. Thank you.
My Delta 3 Plus exhibits a high pitched hiss when AC charging between 600W - 1500W. When I sent EcoFlow a video they said that it was abnormal and sent me a return label. Does yours make any sound other than soft fan noise while charging? The fans are super quiet, but the transformer charging noise is unnerving frequency wise even though it's not loud.
@@Jasonoid Good to hear that the AC charging hiss is not endemic, thanks. Another issue I had was overheating at 136F battery temp when running a 1450W heater from 100% to 0% and refused to charge for 1.5 hours; the battery was already warm from fast charging just before. A room battery temp rerun of the same test reached 122F, which is right under their 125F limit. My power meter showed 955Wh the first time, 912Wh the second time; which is really good. Inverter self-consumption is around 35-40W an hour in my rough estimate and is really high. The UPS feature on this thing is amazing, my desktop was chugging along no matter what I did with power input.
@@Jasonoid you can find the instruction on the product page on the footnote, you need to do some step and if i read it properly it might not be available right now but maybe next month? little obscure
An interlock would require 240v output to power both legs of power in your main panel. This only has 120v output so it would only power half your panel. You're best to plug your fridge or computer directly into the power station and go with a larger model for whole house backup.
Jason - I have been researching a lot and my question is - Which Ecoflow, of these 3, would serve me best for my needs: Delta Pro 3, Delta Pro Plus, Delta Pro Ultra. What i want is a power backup (in case of power outage) for my 1250 sq ft home. Something to run my fridge, some outlets, home electronic devices, possibly my Air handler (Heat) and well pump, (maybe not constant for these 2). I can not think of a reason i would ever use it mobile. Just for my home power. (I have very bright sunlight and a lot of it daily for solar panels) I am very interested to know what you suggest. Thank you!
Is your well pump 240v? If so you'll want either the Delta Pro 3 or the Delta Pro Ultra. If you intend to invest in a bunch of batteries and solar the Ultra is the way to go. It's not portable at all but it's the best of the best right now. They have some great sales on their 6kwh batteries too (watch during black friday). The Delta Pro 3 is a good alternative if you just need something for shorter power outages. Packs a lot of power but not quite as powerful and expandable as the Ultra.
You can only adjust it via the app. You can get smart phones extremely cheap these days. It doesn't need to be a fancy new phone, it can be a used phone from ebay. The phone also doesn't need a cellular plan to work on this device, the app just requires Bluetooth.
Will the EcoFLow Delta 3 still not charge via a modified sine wave inverter like the Delta 2? My 4Runner has a built in 100W/400W inverter but the AC output is modified sine wave and the Delta 2 won't charge at all via the trucks built in inverter.
This may be a dumb question, but it won't be my first or last... If one of the charge controllers malfuncted for some reason, would the other one work correctly, or are they connected some how?🤔
Jason, great review! Will the Renogy 400w suitcase panel you reviewed work on one of the Delta 3 Plus generator xt60 ports? I think it will but would like your feedback. Thanks!
Hey there, great videos, just subbed! I do have one question for you, if it's cool. I watched this video in its entirety, along with your 400w panel comparison video. I also read through all the comments here (including "too animated", hah!). I understand I will need to stay under the 60v limit when choosing panels, but I'm not sure which panels would be ideal for reaching that 500w capacity on both sides of the unit, without going over the voltage limit. For example, connecting one 400w panel to each input seems like "underwatting" by quite a margin. For my use case, I would prefer flexible panels. Are there any higher wattage options other than the Bluetti 420w panels in your 400w panel comparison video? Or, if I decide to go the rigid panel route, would you recommend doing two sets of the 3x Newpowa 180w, one per each side of the Delta 3 Plus? Thank you for your time!
Using 400w glass rigid panels are the cheapest, most durable option right now. They last way longer than portable panels. Usually you can find brand new 300w - 400w residential panels in your local area on Facebook marketplace for around $150 each.... crazy good pricing! Portable folding panels are more money of course but they are a little more convenient. This video shows that process: ruclips.net/video/pLRKljjaqMA/видео.html In order to get the peak 500w input on each port, you'd need 33v @ 15 amps. That means you could purchase four 300w panels locally, wire two of them in parallel on each port for 500 watts input on each port (600w of total power, but limited to 500w by the power station). That means you'd have two panels connected to each charging port. Wiring them in parallel will keep the voltage under 60v and the amperage will be limited automatically by the power station to 15 amps. This process is called over paneling and you'll see the 500w input more frequently since you have more than 500w available in the solar panels. If you went with 200w flexible panels the voltage is usually a bit less, around 25VOC. You'd want to wire them in a 2S config on each port for about 400w input. So you could purchase four 200w flexible panels and connect two per port in series. Those Newpowa 180w panels aren't really made anymore so it's hard to find anything similar with a VOC under 20v.
@@Jasonoid Hey man, thank you for this great explanation! I've queued up some more videos (including yours about serial vs. parallel). I'll do some more research and learn more about this. I do think that for this particular situation, I'd prefer to go with portable panels, despite the obvious benefits of rigid. Once I figure out the best permanent setup, I'll go with rigid. In the meantime, your suggestion of 4x 200w flexible panels, wouldn't that still be underwatting by quite a bit? I just came across these: "KICKASS 12V 300W Super Thin Portable Solar Panel". Do they look alright to you? Each panel's VOC is 23.04v. At least an option like this would be overwatting, assuming that's the main goal (along with VOC under 60 per side), yeah? Thanks so much again!
I have the Ecoflow River 2 Max and yes the DC rating shouldn't be able to start a diesel heater but it can. I'll bet if you hooked one up to this it would work.
The Delta 2 didn't power my diesel heater last winter when I tested it. This doesn't get any more wattage from the DC output. I just depends on the model of diesel heater as most pull over 140 watts, near 150 watts when the glow plug turns on.

Would it be better to get 2 units vs 1 and an expansion battery? You could always use 1 to charge another using the AC ports. Then you have 2 fully functional units instead of 1 and a battery without any power ports.
@@Jasonoid The reason I asked that question was because you described the unit as being able to take 1,000 watts of charging, but it had to be split between 2 ports of 500 watts maximum each. Have I misunderstood your explanation of this?
Hello, love your videos. Can you please test delta 3 plus ups mode with higher loads? For example 500, 1000 and 1500 watt load. How does the station handel this load and will the transfer time change?
Excellent review, thank you! Can you connect more than one expansion battery to it? I do like that it's backwards compatible. Definitely going to be another workhorse unit for sure. Love all the updates and the quiet fans. I've had to call customer service last year and they were on to of the issue I was having with my older Delta 13 and stayed on the phone to walk me through trying to get it working again with no avail. They email a return FedEx label that day and sent me a replacement within a week. Very pleased. Bluetti doesn't even come close but came through several times but take easy longer. Anyway thanks for your great reviews.
Good feedback about their customer support, thanks for sharing. As for the expansion port, theres only one on this unit so you can only connect one battery.
Quick question did your basement refrigerator of 145W run for 13 hours. Calculation doesn't seem correct. With the available battery capacity your refrigerator averaged 76W for 13 hours. Can you confirm that
Fridge compressors run off and on as needed. They don't pull power all the time and they sit idle pulling almost no power when the compressor is not running.
PROS: Quieter fans, double the solar/dc input, higher powered USB ports, accepts expansion batteries, fully adjustable AC charging speed in the app. CONS: Slightly smaller battery than the AC180, slightly more expensive, no wireless charging.
Have you done any testing with the 800W alternator connector? I am thinking that this connected to my Tesla via this connector would be an awesome combination for long term power
I use barrel plugs to connect my solar panels to my Bluetti 55 and 70 (which I was shocked to see on your spreadsheet now have terrible ratings!). I don't do wiring so what would I need to purchase that has the kind of plugs required by this EcoFlow? Thank you, Jason.
The scoring sheet is very scrict and older units don't fair well. It depends what solar panels you are using. If you have a solar panel with MC4 connections, all you need is an MC4 to XT60 adapter and you can charge this one.
@@Jasonoid Thank you! When do you think the EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus extra batteries will be available? Everything I see now is for the Delta Pro and very expensive. And last question, are the extra batteries charged the same way as the main unit?
Ordered mine before YT creators released any videos. Glad I made the right choice. I’m curious how the charging on this will work with the EF alternator charging system that I bought as well?
@@Jasonoid @20:11 you mention if you connect two XT60i cables to the battery you can get up to 350 watts. I'm guessing you'd need two separate full length XT60i cables from the power station to the vehicles battery to keep the cables from overheating and melting, do I understand that correctly?
@@AverageOverlander the default cables aren't usually long enough to run from the battery to your power station. I'd recommend running a 6awg fused cable from your starter battery to whereever you want the power station to be and then modify the Xt60i cables to run off a fuse block from there or splice into the 6awg wire with those two cables.
Great review. Was wondering if there's a possibility of connecting an external battery (not Ecoflow battery pack) via the expansion battery port by the side of delta 2 unit, instead of connecting it via the XT60i port? Reason for this is so the external battery can be permanently connected to the power station for continuous charge & discharge
Any DIY expansion battery will have to connect to the DC Charging ports. The battery expansion port is proprietary and requires special communication pins.
@@Jasonoid nice response. Never knew the port was proprietary. You should consider making a video for working with external batteries esp for your other subscribers who will find it useful. Subscribed & turned on notif
I have hundreds of videos, all about these units. You'll find some really good stuff diving down into them. Heres the video you're looking for: ruclips.net/video/tK4JKmfndh8/видео.html
@@Jasonoid Thanks for your response. Please advise on safely charging external batteries (eg a 24v 400ah battery setup) using the ecoflow device. I checked your videos but didn't find anyone talking about that
@@Dre-e7k here's some tips: - use wire that supports the rated amperage -use a fuse that supports the rated amperage -use connectors that can handle the rated amperage If you do those things you'll be good and you won't have to worry about any issues when it's connected all the time.
Trying to decide to get this or build my own with a 12v 200ah, 2000w power inverter, and charger giving me more power for a slightly lower price. The nice thing about this is I can roll it off the camper.
You are right, just like the Delta 2 and unlike the Delta 2 Max, the Delta 3 plus cannot support an extra battery and the powerstream at the same time, basically limiting your capacity to the 1024wh of the 3plus
The i in XT60i stands for "Information". That extra pin is not for extra power. Ratings for both are typically the same, but could vary depending on manufacturer.
Correct, through wiring configuration on the plug, it allows for a higher amperage input limit on the power station. The third pin doesn't pass power through it, it's a communication protocol. Without the XT60i plug, you are limited to 8 amps and with it you can get the full 15 amps.
Finally, I've been wanting to buy this unit but was waiting for either you or Hobotech to give it a proper test and review.
Thanks for checking out the video!
AC idle consumption so high. I calculated 630wh for 24h. Delta2 uses only 200wh. I’m in Ukraine and it’s very crucial when powering fridge, wifi and lights 24/7
Yes, it's a little higher than previous gen but it's not too bad though. The 1000w of solar is worth the upgrade IMO.
@@Jasonoidbig thanks for your review with every small detail.
Being a newer product I foresee this being adjusted in future updates. This happened with the River series.
@@Jasonoid thats terrible, as bad as the old starlink
Can you test your delta 2 again? I'm pretty sure mine uses idle 25wh per hour.
1000 watts of solar! That's double what the competition offers! I love that you can fast charge off a 12v battery using those XT60i cables, nice hack!
1000 watts of solar is a lot of solar panels to carry if mobile, connect together etc, some may just want ease and convenience of plug and play.
Delta 2 owner here. Overall nice improvement but really wish they increased the solar voltage range to allow higher VDC, up to 200VDC would be awesome
200vdc would be epic! Maybe on their future larger units! These small portable units are guaranteed to have 60v limits unfortunately.
3 times! That's crazy!
@@Jasonoid Extremely annoying to go to FedEx Ground. Customer service does respond within 48 hours. Also… great review. I appreciate your work on a wide variety of options and products.
@@Jasonoid keep sending folk refurbed ones with the same faulty part replaced lol
Alternator charger may work. Up to 800 watts input.
Haha
@@Jasonoid What no video? 🤣
I'm interested in using 2x 300w panels on a delta max2 whenever I can buy it.ty@@Jasonoid
You can do a 2S 5P solar array with JN 100w panels
I did a continuity test on my EcoFlow XT-60i cables, The solar cable ties the signal pin to the ground which enables the full current, the 12v cable ties the signal pin to the hot which limits the current to the car charging current set in the app. If you made your own cable (with appropriate wire gauge) hardwired to your battery you could charge at around 400w assuming your alternator can keep it's voltage high under a 30 amp load.
350 watts is what I saw while testing with both charging ports @12v in the video. I like the ability to use the Xt60i cables for high amperage.
@@Jasonoid ecoflow alternator device can do the same thing right?
Great review! Love seeing EcoFlow's improvements with the Delta 3 Plus. Thanks for the detailed breakdown and tests! 🔋
No problem 👍
Some very nice improvements on this one, but come on Ecoflow give us 30A on the DC side!
Pretty please! 👍
Eco flow delta 3 plus extra battery please show more test it out on RUclips videos
Great review and a lot of important information on the new Ecoflow Delta 3 Plus.
I'm looking forward to the new non-Plus Delta 3 compared to this one.
I guess it's just personal preference. Most people didn't like the AC plugs on the back of the previous model (including me). Either way still works.
See I prefer the front. I keep my batteries on a server rack style storage. So quickly being able to plug in things works better for me. Guess it depends on the use case.
What can you charge during power outages
Mostly around RUclips. I have a basic website, but it's nothing to brag about lol.... Jasonoid.com

We greatly appreciate the time you put in for us.
@Jasonoid
Oh wow!
Lol
Thanks buddy!
This is on the low end suitable for refrigerator during an outage. That is the justification I am looking for. That is my target for one of these and this would barely make the grade. Just a slight bit more power to run it, at least, through the night. I really like how they listen about design changes. Thanks Jason another great evaluation. Always good.
13 hour runtime for a full sized fridge is decent. Add some solar and you could get much longer runtimes.

This video is amazing and exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for watching!
I totally agree.... Who knows who's coming up with these. We just go along with the game.
Hey, Does this system works as Off-Grid Solar System??
Can charging via Solar happen while the unit is switched off (to conserve power)?
Yes, it can charge while you have the AC inverter off. The display will only be powered on which doesn't use much power.
Thank you for sharing. How do you charge the delta 3 and how long it takes to fully charge before you can use it
Check out the charging chapter in the video. It's super in depth 👍
Ps if you test it out and works with far less energy I'll get the delta 3 using your link 😉 hahaha
I can use the delta 1 as a backup battery
Jason how are the fan on it when charging low do the fans stay low and when charging at high do they go up Thanks
The fans hardly run on this model at all. They are extremely quiet.
Do you think it possible to continually power a freezer with about 400w of solar for extended period of time. This is why I was thinking about getting one. Fuel for generators gets hard to come by after storm hits.
Can 2 smart batteries be added? And will it accept delta2 smart batteries?
Great vid. I actually hit the bell on you. 👍🏽
I love how the Delta Pro 3 battery can expand you to ~5 Kw. If only it could do the same with my delta 2.
Thanks Tom for the support!
Can this be hooked up to 30 amp/120 volt for RV use? It doesn't appear so, which would be too bad as I really wanted to use for chest freezer in emergency outage, and boondocking.
With an adapter connected into the power station you can get a 30 amp RV port: amzn.to/4ds58Wj
Just be aware you'll be limited to the wattage of the inverter, 1800w, so you won't be able to pull 30 amps from it.
My question is, what's better, jackery 1000 plus or Delta 3 plus from your view?
The Ecoflow unit offers much more extra accessories like the Ecoflow expansion batteries, alternator charger, wave 2 portable AC, and others! It also has up to 1000 watts input of solar and silent fans!
Will be even better in a few years when they move over to solid state batteries. The days of having to be connected to the grid under the stranglehold of big utility companies are well & truly numbered.
Yep, each year the products get better and better.
True, I see Dabbsson has been using semi solid...stating 15 years and 4,500 cycles.
You can overpanel, you just have to keep the voltage under 60v. Over amperage is fine 👍
I really think I need this.
Can you advise me? I have 2x LifePo4 Lithium batteries with 200AH. Can I attach solar panels directly to the batteries or do I need some kind of controller?

you need a charge controller to for your batteries, you can't attach solar panels directly. the controller helps regulate how much power is going into the batteries for safety, prevents over charging.
What do you like more the Eco flow delta three or the anchor C 1000❓
Hmmmmm let's break it down....
the Delta 3 Plus has more solar charging and better USB ports. It also has much quieter fans and a faster UPS mode. I really like the ability to use the XT60i cable to charge fast off a 12v battery on the Delta 3 Plus, it was able to charge at 350w without any special converters.
They both take expansion batteries, have good smart apps, and have 1800w inverters.
The Anker is a little more compact on sizing vs the new Delta.

Good review Jason!. Much better unit than D2.
In UPS mode do you still loose waste power running the inverter or does the inverter start in 10ms?
It's sitting in a standby mode, it doesn't use quite a much power then.
This battery station can't be combined with the EcoFlow car charger and an expansion battery (at the same time) correct?
Hoping for a Delta 3 2kwh with more 12Vdc output
Correct, only one battery port means connecting only one battery or accessory at a time.
What’s the DC Idle consumption? I have a lot of usb devices, mostly in fact. How many watts does it take to run just the USB ports or all DC ports for a device like a usb router?
I show that in the DC testing section of the video, check the video chapters.
Can it be used outside?
Great review Jason. You cover every possible thing. Nobody will have a question after watching your reviews
Thanks, Todd! It's a ton of testing but it's worth it! 👍
Can you perform the same UPS test with the old Delta 2? I ask because I believe a firmware update dropped it to 15ms.
In this video below I tested 19.8ms after the firmware update, still not quite fast enough for most desktops under a load:
ruclips.net/video/opBLpcOWV0w/видео.html
It's better than the original 30ms, but not near 10ms to keep all electronics running.
@@Jasonoid Thank you 🙏
So if I understand this correctly.
Correct, it's an awesome setup!
@@Jasonoidnewbie here but how is this wired to a 12v cigarette lighter outlet? Would you have to make your own plug?
👍 Nice job, thanks. I would guess that they don't add 30A is because it would take a ton of sales away from the Pro, $$$. I would buy one this size with 30A over the full, heavy Pro, and they know it.
I'd be happy with 150 watts from the 12v cig port. It would be even better if they threw in a 15 amp XT60 or a 20 amp XT output and it would be golden. It doesn't need to be the full 30 amp output.

Great video!! Have you considered doing a video on using the 400W solar panel by Ecoflow? I am thinking about buying the Delta 3 and the 400W solar panel, but not sure if it is the best option.

I'd recommend a residential 400w glass panel for the best pricing right now. Just lean it up against your house, a fence, or shed to charge the power station.

No noises on my Delta 3 Plus unit while AC charging. I have seen that before with other power stations though.
With the extra battery, can the Delta 3 Plus connect to your house with an interlock?
An interlock would require 240v output to power both legs of power in your main panel. This only has 120v output so it would only power half your panel. You're best to plug your fridge or computer directly into the power station and go with a larger model for whole house backup.
Thank you, I appreciate the information.
Jason -
I have been researching a lot and my question is -
Which Ecoflow, of these 3, would serve me best for my needs:
Delta Pro 3, Delta Pro Plus, Delta Pro Ultra.
(I have very bright sunlight and a lot of it daily for solar panels)
I am very interested to know what you suggest.
Thank you!
I had been leaning towards the Ultra for the fact that i just want it for home power backup. And it seems to be geared toward that.
I called crew who replaced my well pump. Awaiting callback with answer to if its 240V
Best review I’ve seen. Thank you
Thanks! I'm always trying to improve my videos.
I don't have a so-called "Smart" phone. Can I adjust the ac charging rate to 100W internally using just the power station?
You can only adjust it via the app. You can get smart phones extremely cheap these days. It doesn't need to be a fancy new phone, it can be a used phone from ebay. The phone also doesn't need a cellular plan to work on this device, the app just requires Bluetooth.
Will the EcoFLow Delta 3 still not charge via a modified sine wave inverter like the Delta 2? My 4Runner has a built in 100W/400W inverter but the AC output is modified sine wave and the Delta 2 won't charge at all via the trucks built in inverter.
It needs a pure sine wave to charge. Most power stations do.
This may be a dumb question, but it won't be my first or last...
If one of the charge controllers malfuncted for some reason, would the other one work correctly, or are they connected some how?🤔
They work independently, one goes down the other should work.
Excellent! Thank you very much!
That just pushed me toward the Delta over the Dabbsson dbs1000 pro.
@@Jasonoid
Can it produce enough power to weld?
for a small flux 100 welder, yes.
@@Jasonoid thank you.
Jason, great review! Will the Renogy 400w suitcase panel you reviewed work on one of the Delta 3 Plus generator xt60 ports? I think it will but would like your feedback. Thanks!
Yes, you can connect one to each port! 👍
This video shows that process: ruclips.net/video/pLRKljjaqMA/видео.html
In order to get the peak 500w input on each port, you'd need 33v @ 15 amps.
@@Rakkadeedoo sounds like a great option, you can go over amps just fine, just never over volts 👍
like to see the alternator charging option
Can it do the 800w alternator charger ? Like the Delta 2 can.
Yes
I have the Ecoflow River 2 Max and yes the DC rating shouldn't be able to start a diesel heater but it can. I'll bet if you hooked one up to this it would work.
The Delta 2 didn't power my diesel heater last winter when I tested it. This doesn't get any more wattage from the DC output. I just depends on the model of diesel heater as most pull over 140 watts, near 150 watts when the glow plug turns on.
Hello i got the DP3+extra battery but the battery doesn't charge past 65%it's been over a month and coustemer service has yet offered me a solution i feel i i should send it all back, doing a wonderful gob thanks and love to you and yours 8
huge step up in price tho too, , some of the non brands are half that
It's priced at $649? What brand is $375 with actual quality? I test all these units, trust me, you get what you pay for...
@@Jasonoid sure, always that caveat of being in EU and we are way pricier for this brand. 750 euros on offer for delta 2, often 1k and this penciled at 1200eu :)
excelente reseña. tengo un ecoflow delta 2 siempre utilice el cable xt 60 para cargarlo con paneles solares , soi nuevo en esto y no se si podria utilizar el cable xt60 i para cargar con mis paneles gracias y un saludo
Would it be better to get 2 units vs 1 and an expansion battery? You could always use 1 to charge another using the AC ports. Then you have 2 fully functional units instead of 1 and a battery without any power ports.
Yes, I think that's a great option as well! You could have double the solar too!
Lots of great detailed information.
Glad it was helpful!
Can you charge this power station using the ECOFLOW Alternator Charger that charges at 800 watts?
Yep
@@Jasonoid The reason I asked that question was because you described the unit as being able to take 1,000 watts of charging, but it had to be split between 2 ports of 500 watts maximum each. Have I misunderstood your explanation of this?
@@wolfenstein6676 the EF alternator charger doesn't use the solar ports. It connects to the expansion battery port.
@@Jasonoid I didn't realise that fact, Jason, thanks for the explanation.
Can you pair this with deep cycle marine batteries to extend power? Thank you
I made a whole video about that HERE: ruclips.net/video/tK4JKmfndh8/видео.html
Thank you!!
Hello, love your videos. Can you please test delta 3 plus ups mode with higher loads? For example 500, 1000 and 1500 watt load. How does the station handel this load and will the transfer time change?
I've tested up to 500w without a change. I'll have to try more wattage.
Ok thank you. It's good to know about battery options using the original Delta 2 battery too.👍
Quick question did your basement refrigerator of 145W run for 13 hours. Calculation doesn't seem correct. With the available battery capacity your refrigerator averaged 76W for 13 hours. Can you confirm that
Fridge compressors run off and on as needed. They don't pull power all the time and they sit idle pulling almost no power when the compressor is not running.
Hey Jason great video I wonder how this New EF Delta3 compares to the Blueetti AC180?
PROS: Quieter fans, double the solar/dc input, higher powered USB ports, accepts expansion batteries, fully adjustable AC charging speed in the app.
CONS: Slightly smaller battery than the AC180, slightly more expensive, no wireless charging.
@@Jasonoid interesting thank you J
Well during Prime Days, the AC180 is nearly $200 less.
@@donrichter3523 I got mine for 499.00 when there was a 3-day sale ? I didn't need another Solar Gen but for that price, I couldn't resist
Have you done any testing with the 800W alternator connector? I am thinking that this connected to my Tesla via this connector would be an awesome combination for long term power
There's a couple videos about using the alternator charger on an EV, seems to work well 👍
Does this thing have the option to just charge to 80% to preserve longevity like every EV or phone has?
Sure does! Adjustable in the app.
Should work as advertised, it connects to the battery expansion port.
Heres the video you're looking for:

@@Jasonoid Thanks for your response. Please advise on safely charging external batteries (eg a 24v 400ah battery setup) using the ecoflow device. I checked your videos but didn't find anyone talking about that
@@Dre-e7k here's some tips:
- use wire that supports the rated amperage
-use a fuse that supports the rated amperage
-use connectors that can handle the rated amperage
If you do those things you'll be good and you won't have to worry about any issues when it's connected all the time.
When is the next sale? Black Friday?
Yep. I'd wait around till then for the best pricing.
Trying to decide to get this or build my own with a 12v 200ah, 2000w power inverter, and charger giving me more power for a slightly lower price. The nice thing about this is I can roll it off the camper.
You can always expand a DIY system for pretty cheap!
@@Jasonoid just saw thr 1152wh bluetti ac180 go for $450 on prime day -- good deal?
@@patricklacson yep, I like that power station as well! Grest price!
Not sure if you are familiar with Ecoflow PowerStream but does this main unit cannot host the extra battery and the PowerStream at the same time?
The power stream is for Europe right? Basically feeding power into your wall outlet to keep your house power usage down?
You look closer with the fan test on the old to the new
Very big difference in sound
great review as always. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
