I really like your evaluation system, Jason. You take your time to test all the features of the power station, which is very informative for a potential buyer!
Really thorough group of tests. I wanted to verify the low temperature charging shut off circuit which the 1200 has in its operating manual. Very important feature for campers during the swing seasons.
I doubt it has actual low temp charging protection, the manual states to just not charge it below 32F. I gave this one to a family member so I can't test it anymore.
Thank you for the clearly explained well documented review of this OUPES 1800. To me the Bluetti AC200P wins. Same price and yet this OUPES uses an external charging brick, No APP, no wireless charging. I do believe the industry needs to move to parallel solar panel connection as the standard method of solar panel input charging of units still 12 - 30V D/C max input solar charging be it in Series or Parallel seems low to me for a unit of this size.
Fast solar charging on a larger power station is a MUST in my opinion. 415 watts is acceptable, but 1000 watts would be ideal! You can really only achieve that via series connections as you mentioned. Thanks for commenting Dan :)
@@TheMargo420- Even better price now, always keep checking because they even have some "flash sale" prices sometimes. $799 now, but Black Friday price was $649, I think? But so was the Bluetti AC180 Black Friday sale deal, and that unit has some better aspects, imo, including longer warranty, no exterior charging brick, etc.
Wow, just took a look at your portable power station buyers guide and it is very impressive!! That is a ton of work!! Thank you for making it easyier to choose one of theese.
I love this unit, it runs my home fridge for 24 hours if it has a full charge. Oupes replaced the first one I bought because the display started to show real garbled nonsense, and they were great about it when I showed them photos. And I love the faster charging on this unit. I bought it for about $1000, I think that is a great deal. I can use my 200W solar panels with it, either my Bluetti or the AllPowers cheap ones that are polycrystalline and work just great.
As usual, another thorough test and review. Although the Bluetti AC200P is bigger (size and capacity) than the Oupes, it’s currently on sale for $1299. I picked one up at the end of 2021 for $1499 and I’m actually thinking of getting another at the lower price. And you can jam lots of electrons in it quickly with multiple charging options. Just my 2 cents.
What a great review! Thank you. I am loving your channel and have subscribed. My only nitpick with this review is that I think on your grading sheet it would be more accurate to grade the price per watt based on what you can buy it for on Amazon ($1199). In which case the Oupes1800 comes down to .80 cents per watt, which brings it in line with its peers, and very close to the Bluetti AC200P. Other than that I found your review extremely thorough and helpful!
There are a couple of interesting details about the DC section. First and foremost is the USB-C PDP. I am surprised to see the unit shut off the PDP-60 port on overload, as load can actually sense what it is connected to. Looking at a Macbook Pro, if you use the Apple 30 watt USB-C adapter, the Macbook will charge at 30 watts. The fact that this unit can trip implies some kind of mis-communication between the load and the Oupes. The other really interesting thing was the DC frig running for 24 hours with the Oupes still showing 75% of the capacity remaining. An interesting test would be to run the frig until the Oupes reaches 0% using an inline DC watt meter. If this is like the Ecopro River Mini, I think you will see the DC conversion is much better when specifically using a DC frig with the cigarette plug. Great review as always!
Thanks John for your thoughts! The USBc is definitely not playing nice on the left side 60w port. It almost behave as a 100w port but as the power station notices it going above 60w it freaks out and shuts it down. I almost feel they accidentally programmed in a 100w port and a 18w port instead of two 60w ports....18w port works fine and will limit power as it should...except it's labeled wrong on the power station LOL
Excellent and thorough review. The mislabelling of their USB-C ports needs to be fixed. Also their USB-C ports should be rated to go to 100 watts not 60 especially for an 1800 Watt power station. No USP capability at this price makes this a no choice for me.
Just curious, what price point would this power station be appealing to you? I would love for some viewer feedback on that subject and that's why I'm asking. I know it doesn't have the newest features like fast internal charging / UPS mode, which most people are looking for now. What do you think?
@@Jasonoid The problem with this unit is it is obsolete from the start. USB-C ports rated at only 60w instead of a 100w. Only one 60w USB-C on this unit since the other is mislabeled. No UPS capability. External power brick instead of built in. The FFPower is a better option. With the prices of all these power stations fluctuating almost daily like the weather one should monitor the web sites daily and then select the one at the price they want.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My question is about the charging block. Is it normal that it gets very hot? It's so hot that it could cause a minor skin burn. So I unplug it after several hours to let it cool down, then resume the charging procedure. Is my block defective?
Great review! I got this unit thinking that 1500wh can be a sweet spot with practical capacity and portability around the house and possible camping trips. 2000wh could be too heavy or bulky - it is hard to tell the size as RUclipsrs use wide angle shots for close-ups. 1800w can drive pretty much all home appliances. Among the few options I chose Oupes for good inverter quality from reviews on its other models. So far I am pretty happy about it.
It's does have a great inverter, super clean output at 110v. I also was able to get 88% capacity via my AC discharge test. Those are the positives about this power station for sure!
Yep, this is kinda ticking all my boxes because I was wanting something lighter than the FFPower P2001 but need a minimum 1400W inverter, preferably 1600W for some wiggle room, to run my power tools. So the big inverter but smaller capacity for less weight and cheaper price are the trade offs I've been looking for. The actual usable capacity between this and the FFpower is not that much different either since this unit is more efficient. Edit: or the Bluetti AC200p is like the same price and you get more capability, but it's 60 lbs and not sure my girlfriend or kids would even be able to move that.
The Oupes has been connected to a few kitchen appliances and tripped a few times when my family turned microwave and toaster on together. Just learned the Oupes 2400 is out and wet my pants.
Thanks for a complete 💯 testing of the unit. I rather spend my $$$ on a more sophisticated & updated generator. What's up with the USB rating on this model?

These are $1199 on amazon!Your welcome!lol
Thanks for the heads up Two Commas....I was so caught up on their website pricing I didn't even think to look other places. DOH! I'll add a pinned comment to update the pricing info.
Oupes frequently offers 15%-off code. With it I got one for $1189 with no sales tax on its website.
12V + 12V = 24V < 30V
I can do math, but maybe you don't know that 12v solar panels actually put out 18-24 volts under load. So it's really like 36volts to 48 volts when you put them together.
called 1800 but it's the inverter and only has a 1488wh battery but only 1200 or so useable, and then charging brick and slowish charging, lack of ups mode. this one is meh, there are better ones especially at the price point. and good point about the shape, probably alot of plastic in that handle.
as a side note, nice red mustang in the garage 😁
Totally agree :) also, my girls love that modded mustang! She rips on 40volts LOL
I have tried to reach out to Oupes with questions and issues and their customer service is non existent. Horrible service !
I've heard the same thing recently from others, its hard to recommend a product that doesn't have support. Thanks for your feedback!
I had a similar experience with Bluetti initially.
Folding hand better.
Yep, takes up much less space!
this is overpriced, with out amenities
Yeah, maybe if it was priced around $1000
@@Jasonoid i can make the same capacity using jag35 batteries for less than that
@@xzinx it’s not over priced now $750 now. Best priced power station now
