I'm glad to see this test video, but please rest assured that our E2000LFP was updated 2 months ago to reach 100W PD output, the previous 65W was due to a protocol issue with the device. Thank you so much!
Question I preordered this unit and got it in July so is this unit a 100W PD or 65W? If it is a 65w what can be done to correct the protocol issue with these units?
After research, including your review,, I pulled the trigger on this unit. I was not crazy about the power brick but for $900 you can’t go wrong. Thanks again!
Tom, Thanks for your time! but it seems that the E2000LFP i bought last month it can support PD 100W output, I bought their E2000lfp with 1200W solar panel kit, you are right, I’m very happy with their cost!! I’m currently very satisfied with it!
That's great reveiew! Thanks Tom! As an RV traveler, I would love to choose the Pecron E2000LFP, I checked out their products and for those who don't want to spend more money on something fancy, I prefer the best value for money E2000lfp, it provides exactly the energy support I need in my RV life, I won't spend more money on marketing costs of other brands, ECO and Blue... They cost a few hundred dollars more, but the E2000lfp doesn't lose out at all when comparing the 3 of them, and I can totally use the few hundred dollars I save on my RV... Thanks Tom, I will choose E2000lfp
How are you liking it? I just bought one this evening. I can't wait to try! Hoping it will be compatible with the solar panels I bought from harbor freight.
Just ran it through Hurricane Helene and now we have another one on the gulf - great power and versatility ! I looked extensively at all the brands and Pecron delivers the best mix ! Reliable!
I ordered the Pecron during Black Friday price sale.. Used your coupon to get the E200LFP for $1,235 ish the sale price worked with the coupon. (Thank YOU!) The functionality was exactly as described. My use case is hunting camp with a HF Predator 3500 to charge the Pecron. This will give me on demand power and greatly reduce the run time of my generator. The BOUGERV 180w Solar Panels are my next addition to the system. I am going to back up my freezer with the Pecron if we have grid issues. I would have loved the addition of UPS to the device. Thank you very much for the video. : )
@@donaldricher8815 It seems to work well... Leave it charging longer than the battery indicator says, it's got more to go to be at 100% charge. Good value for the $$$

Another perfectly informative review, thanks Professor. I'm doing a price watch this winter on models in this range. Still loving the xylophone percussion.
Mine showed up Friday with the pair of 200 watt panels. So far am impressed. Has Ben running the deer shack since Friday night. Had to charge sat afternoon for about three hours with the gas Genny. To lazy to put out the panels as of yet. So far so good. Ordered one of the expansion battery also. Will let you know. For what it's worth I did wire it through a 6 slot breaker box. Works great will see. Thanks for the review on the e3000, it's why I went with the pecron e2000 and expansion. You are a riot and thanks for doing the technical testing.
Even though there is no internal charging brick I see it as a plus. Its almost half the size of the bluetti ac200 max . When I go camping I need as much space possible. I have a family of 4 and the size is a check mark for me.
I got a new Pecron E2000LFP October 20,2024 paid $750 came with 120v 30A RV outlet. I use it to charge my Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla shows 120 volts @ 12 amps coming into the car. I recharge it with 12-vertical fence mounted 100 watt bi-facial solar panels. The Pecron manual doesn't recommend more than 4-100 watt panels in series is 84 volts just under the max 95volts.
How do you like this model? I wish there was a review on this newer version. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on this as it's currently $749 for black Friday 2024
@@tonystubbs9189 It's a work horse especially with the rv outlet. Well worth $750 get it now before it doubles! Only one downside is if your overload the ac it just completely shuts off without any warning so it's surge capabilities are not the highest or longest. Other than that I love it and use it everyday.
I gotta admit, at that price level it's compelling, even with its few warts. Pretty good mobility too. But I've got bigger expansion plans with the AC500 system.
Always enjoy your reviews. When the day comes when you can add a battery/batteries using a standard 100ah AmpereTime, Redodo, or PowerQueen type of battery, then I'll consider buying one of these units. I think they would sell a gazillion of them if they did.
Thanks again finding the no fixed 100 / 60 watt. Are we at the point that you can put together a spreadsheet of Solar generator’s from your notes? You have years of experience as well. Also going to Solar panel’s spreadsheet. Even to the point of putting the required panels and generator’s. Together when camping or totally off grid your are dependent upon solar to recharge for the overnight or bad weather. I’m thinking it’s going to be a book. 😅 ok I’ll buy it. I am not certain if it has been mentioned already but the latest version of this E2000lfp which I received recently due to an rma is now outputting 120volt ac whereas the prior version would only do 110volt. I would assume it also does output usb-c 100w pd however I don't have a usb-c powered device that will pull in 100watt, my laptop only pulls 60w even from its only power adapter. I had ordered one in August and it worked well and I really liked it however it had a strange issue with the ac inverter and the exhaust fans and that one only put out 110v, so they are making changes/improvements/revisions...so good on Pecron!
I own this generator (among others) and I’m pretty happy with it. I purchased it knowing it’s limitations which for me are minor. As these things become fancier (app, internal charger, UPS), I’m starting to notice that the usable battery is starting to become less and less and that they are becoming heavier and heavier. I don’t find that to be the case with this one. The idea of getting this type of capacity with the ability to add more to it , and it’s still truly portable is a big selling point. Especially at this price point. Yeah, the 60 watt vs 100 is a weird choice, and the limitations for solar charging is unfortunate but I’m still happy. I should also note that their customer service is pretty responsive and it comes with a water proof cover and a nylon bag for the accessories. Pretty good deal.
If you get to test the expansion battery, I'd love to know how well they document the interconnect. The expansion might already be more interesting than the core unit, given that it has a 30A 12v XT60 output (correct gender, too!) and it's own MPPT controller, but being able to use that apparently 24v connection with other gear would be awesome.
Will you do an update review video of the pecron lfp 2000 When you received the external batteries? would love to see how they work in conjunction, also charging separately and bidirectional really interesting information this could be a huge selling point for this unit once you can test it.
05:30 Thanks very much for showing the output waveform UNDER A DECENT LOAD. Missing from so many reviews. Would also like to see a quick peek at both near minimum and near maximum loads and also when it's "running hot". I've seen output waveforms vary substantially depending on the MOSFETs and capacitors used.
why is the pecron e1500 have 200 more watts but 400 less wh ? I like the pecron for most things but the Bluetti has a 240 output plug massive plus for bigger setups
Another Great Video. My question: On Solar charging you mentioned 2-200w Renogy panels to start with or 4-320w panels for max solar power. I also noticed that there are 550w panels available. Would it be better to get 2-550w and connect each one to each port? Is their a video reviewing the Renogy panels?
Yes. They have dominated for a while, it seems. Check put the Bluetti EB3A, small, LiFePO4 battery, great display (better than typical Bluetti), and can often get it for about $240! Not big capacity, but really handy.
@@debbiedogs1 I think Jackery are big because of marketing, not quality. They don't even offer LFP! In Japan, they've got their stuff into not only electronics stores, but also "home" stores selling bedsheets, shower mats etc. And JVC build licensed copies of the Jackery range. And Japan-only brand Powerarq have one model that's a recoloured Jackery (though they also have an Ecoflow Delta with a removable battery, and a Bluetti E300 but with an internal battery and no modularity... wierd brand)
Hello professor, In your video you tested the charging with "fake solar", your variable voltage charger. Since that seemed to take the charge, would there be any issues of charging the unit using 3 12v batteries wired in series to get over the 31v minimum requirement?
Re UPS function, you say it has pass through charging; can't you just plug things into it plug in the brick? So when the power comes back on, it resumes charging. If the loads are always running off the batteries, say 500 watts , this is actually a type of UPS that provides seamless switchover, but yes does wear out the batteries more, as they are always online. But at 3,500 cycles, over 10 years, calendar aging will kill this before using it all the time would. Or am I missing something?
It's not a real UPS because it doesn't switch from using grid power to inverter during an outage. By leaving it plugged in and using pass through charging you'll wear the battery out over time.
@@HOBOTECH I'm becoming confused how to best use these features.. I ordered a P2001 for my first solar power system, and it sounds like I have to choose between running things on solar (daily) and using the UPS.. In order to use the UPS, it must be connected to AC power.. but then that means it'll be fully charged at all times and unable to collect solar when the sun shines.. I can't have standby power, and reduce/offset my grid power usage at the same.. This reality makes running things like refrigerators unrealistic unless I manually intervene. So, for now I suppose the plan is setting up an automated heating and cooling system.. I have enough independent units I can set half up to run on solar only with no AC power, and half on AC power to kick on only if the solar powered ones can't maintain a temperature threshold. It's important to find a way to discharge useful power as much as possible, as I'm using those grid power offsets to subsidize the cost of the equipment. I have four 100w panels on the way, nothing has arrived yet, (also have an EB3A that's never been used with solar)
I like it but only want to be able to put one 200w panel out outside of my Rv. That panel only delivers max 29Amps. So to be clear are you saying this unit won’t charge with solar with that amount input??Weight is an issue with RV so whatever I put in it something typically comes out.
Tom I was in the process of an order and my credit union told me that my card was stop I call and they said that the order was going to China. So have anyone had any issues. Thanks
Great video!!! I got a set of those DBL lithium batteries for Christmas. They seem to work well in my ancient portable Ham radio tranceiver. Expensive yes but there are no other good options since the old Ni-Cad pack which is no longer available.
Thanks, Professor, for another great review. I've yet to see any review from someone else that even comes close to the level of detail you put into these videos. If you have some time, I have a couple of questions: If the primary reason to purchase a SG is for backup power (think, Florida) it seems to me the best option is to have UPS capability (UPS relay). That way, instead of just being stored somewhere, it can take the place of a computer/TV UPS and be used on a daily basis. Is that a fair assumption? I've gone through several tropical cyclones where we lost power. The main thing electricity is wanted for DURING a storm is the refrigerator, TV and internet. Flashlights, battery powered fans, and small power banks for phones, etc. can take care of most other needs. I know the technology (and prices) are rapidly changing, but based on my above criteria, would you have any recommendations? I've posted a couple of your videos on the Eye On The Storm blog (Yale Climate Connections) and was surprised at how many people weren't even aware these things exist. I'll post this one too later today. I got an email from YCC the other day titled, "Everything to buy if a hurricane is forecast for your area" and there wasn't even a mention of a SG. It seems to me that should be on the essential list for those that can afford one. Especially since practically every storm has someone dying of carbon monoxide poisoning from a gas powered generator. Any thoughts you may have on this will no doubt be appreciated and passed on to the EOTS blog. Thanks again, Mike
What about a dedicated UPS ($100 to $150 for a decent one) plugged in to catch the slack (also fixable without tearing into the power pack, and they do "break"). Yes, more wires, but what the heck, it's solar baby.
So currently the newer version has an RV (30amp?) outlet on the front replacing 2 of the 120v 20a outlets. Have you reviewed this version or plan to? I'd like to see if anything else has been upgraded. 11/30/24
Just found your channel and subscribed. Great review as I'm about to buy one of these. Not real clever with this stuff and curious how I work out how long my fridge at home will last on the Pecron?
I just purchased a PECRON E2000LFP. My RV roof space that I'm working with is 101" x 77". If I should use (2) Renogy 450 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel SKU: RSP450D-120x2-US, would this work? The dimensions would be perfect.
Pls help me with general question on solar panels: Is 2 x 100W same as 1 x200 W? What are the advantages and disadvantages between them> Thanks in advance and God Bless.
A "regular" generator normally has the engine running at 3600 RPM to easily make the 60 Hz required for devices. As the output is relatively clean, it should be OK to power the AC charging "brick". What you don't want to do is use any AC voltage source that has a square or modified sine wave, like in some cheaper UPS's that have a very "noisy" output. Any AC device - charging brick - will work BEST with a pure sine wave input....
It’s so tempting to go to this type of route. The downside is if you’re putting it in a camper it offers no real charging method while you’re driving other than a cigarette lighter.

What would be a good panel to use with the Pecron E2000 LFP that is mountable to the top of my vehicle? I have a roof top tent on my Jeep (with luggage rack), and looking for a durable panel with the correct voltage. Thanks for any help you can give!
@@HOBOTECH WELL, not to sound UN-appreciative, it IS part of the operational specification and since you noted the 100 Watt USB port was only capable of ~ 65 Watts or so, leaving out the "Surge" capability is a VERY important consideration in using/reviewing these generators.... Just say'in.............

And Japan-only brand Powerarq have one model that's a recoloured Jackery (though they also have an Ecoflow Delta with a removable battery, and a Bluetti E300 but with an internal battery and no modularity... wierd brand)
Hello professor,
In your video you tested the charging with "fake solar", your variable voltage charger.
Do you think i would be able to run this with solar panels 24/7 with a fridge? Or it will damage this battery? Thanks
Sure
Unfortunately their support staff doesn't seem to be able to get it together to even respond to anything other than warranty registration!
Tom I was in the process of an order and my credit union told me that my card was stop I call and they said that the order was going to China. So have anyone had any issues. Thanks
The first video of yours I was like dam that’s corny now I’m here like “BANG BANG” all loud in my room excited for the results
If you have some time, I have a couple of questions:
If the primary reason to purchase a SG is for backup power (think, Florida) it seems to me the best option is to have UPS capability (UPS relay).
Thanks again,
Mike
Can I use lithium batteries for my house batteries in a class C and not hurt the alternator ?
I just purchased a PECRON E2000LFP. My RV roof space that I'm working with is 101" x 77". If I should use (2) Renogy 450 Watt Monocrystalline Solar Panel SKU: RSP450D-120x2-US, would this work? The dimensions would be perfect.
Yes they will run fine. I see them at 34 volts so it's over the minimum mentioned so you can run one on each controller.
This Pecron system seems to have a lot of value for the price.
Pls help me with general question on solar panels:
Is 2 x 100W same as 1 x200 W?
What are the advantages and disadvantages between them>
Thanks in advance and God Bless.
Great review, thank you! My question is, can you charge this, or any other similar power station, using a regular (not inverter) generator?
A "regular" generator normally has the engine running at 3600 RPM to easily make the 60 Hz required for devices. As the output is relatively clean, it should be OK to power the AC charging "brick". What you don't want to do is use any AC voltage source that has a square or modified sine wave, like in some cheaper UPS's that have a very "noisy" output. Any AC device - charging brick - will work BEST with a pure sine wave input....
It’s so tempting to go to this type of route. The downside is if you’re putting it in a camper it offers no real charging method while you’re driving other than a cigarette lighter.
I can look past the cons. The only lynch pin is getting my wife to agree on it. I have the Leoch at this time but two is one, one is none right?
Just turn off the power for a few hours at your breaker panel and let your wife experience no power. She will be on board in short order.
Are you going to review the Pecron E1500lfp? It is new and on pre-order.
I'm still waiting for it to show up...
I have a 1500W and might get this one.
Hi, congratulations for the details of the video. One piece of advice, better pecron E2000LFP or Bluetti AC200P?? I have to use it as the main battery of my van. Thanks a lot! :)
finally im getting notified of your videos. thanks youtube
Could I use this in my Semi with a portable air conditioner? I’m looking to charge the battery pack while driving and use this to power AC overnight.
Did I miss how many charge cycles this is good for and still 80% - is this like Bluetti 3500 cycles?? If you know that would be great!?
You missed it in the first 60 seconds.
@@HOBOTECH I don’t start getting focused until I’m double fisted by you
Hi great video! between pecron e2000lfp or the vtoman 1800 would you pick one over the other? In your opinon is the bulky power supply of the pecron a deal breaker compared to other power stations out there. I'm just looking for something affordable with good value. Thanks
is it safe to use neutral-ground bonding plug with the E2000LFP? Any chance it could cause problems?
Where do I get one of those charging gadgets like you had plugged in to your phone?
Now in May 2024, you can get it for $850. Add 3kw for $1k and another to get 8kwh for under $3k. Thats less than $.36 a watt hour.
I saw it online and thought but Who da fook is this company. Chime in the myth.. the man… the electronic legend HoboTech… you are the MAN.
@HOBOTECH I picked up this unit I have a question . Can you hook up a small wind generator to power this unit say a 400w unit ?
Can these be charged with a DC to DC charger....
Since there is no app, can these generators ever have a software update? I'm thinking not.
How do I connect a dokio 300w panel to a Perron 2000lfp?
Great video Sir. What was the name of the max solar panels you mentioned? I'm definitely interested in the quickest solar charging panels available for this. Thank you
Where can I buy that variable voltage power supply do you have it in your amazon store
Can it charge through solar automatically if the power is off from depletion or would you have to manually turn it on before it starts charging?
What would be a good panel to use with the Pecron E2000 LFP that is mountable to the top of my vehicle? I have a roof top tent on my Jeep (with luggage rack), and looking for a durable panel with the correct voltage. Thanks for any help you can give!
I dont understand, if it wont run at 2000 watts how is it going to do 3000 surge? Is the surge just bs?
Surge rating is typically for 0.5-1.0 seconds. I don't test for that because why bother.
It shuts down at 2000 pretty quickly. Maybe 2100 but that's about the max load.
I thought HOBOTECH has said that there is a link to a store with cables, does anyone know what the link is?
Try the description of the video?
@@HOBOTECH you are unflappable. :)
Question.. when I have my pecron e2000 lfp plugged in and charging at about 550 watts with the lunchbox charger, when it reaches 100% it keeps charging and says at 550 watts or so. I left it charging for about another 7 minutes but it didn't stop charging. Will it just keep charging and overcharge and ruin it if I'm not around to unplug it?
Their website says to contact pecron support email for the return shipping address BUT THEN THEY DONT RESPOND TO GIVE IT TO YOU!
New sub,
Love these reviews 👍
I have a question as you obviously now what your talking about. If you had to chose for a 2kw generator for a small camper, would you pick this pecron,
Ecoflow max,
ffpower,
oupes 2.4,
bluetti 200p.
Hi, can somebody tell me the solar panels i need to charge this battery? I am new to this kind of power supply. Thank you
Does it have a UPS feature?
one of the things missing is a light to call down the Dancing aliens. I'm not sure i could live without a light lol
Curious if you plan on doing a review of the expandable EB3000 battery? You seemed to be high on Pecron but with the EB3000 battery out 7 months now, surprised you haven't reviewed it. Are you still good with Pecron? Also, they have sales going on now. This unit is roughly $1050 (with promo code) and the EB3000 is about $1300 w/ code. That's about 47 cents/Wh 😶 Price is great but do you feel it's a quality unit for the money?
That battery came out too late to make the review and my schedule doesn't permit backpedaling. I'm waiting on the 48v EP3000 and E1500LFP. Those should be a lot more popular.
I think this is my next because of this review.
I just got it for $899 on Amazon Prime Day 👍
i will wait to buy until the expandable batteries are tested and review by at least two youtubers.
I would love to garb a beer with this guy. . Love his videos .
Hello Professor, bought an E2000lfp and pretty satisfied after the first one was returned for no go, (Customer Service pretty good so far). I see that the EB3000 (3kwh) expansion batts are out. Want to add expansions but won't until I start seeing some reviews from my trusted UTubers. When do you think?
Had the same thing,. returned the first one but the second one they sent me has been great! I also pre-ordered the EB3000 and it has far exceeded my expectations. Look up "Pecron" on youtube and watch some of Rambling Bob's videos and you'll get some great info! Looking forward to HobeTech doing a review on the EB3000!!!
@@BucksBe Thank you for the mention :)
We have done MANY tests on the 8kw system....
Dino Bernardi. How is your new unit performing. Any weird noises from fan area.
No weird noises from the fan area. Unit has been performing flawlessly 24/7 since beginning December 2022.
@@dinobernardi170 No problems with mine either, Running 24/7 with 1,200 watts in and up to 1,500 watts out everyday. full 8kw system
So, can this system use external battery banks of lead-acid type batteries and charge them from the solar array via the Pecron?
I tried to be clear that only the Pecron external batteries can charge from the Pecron. All other batteries you charge yourself.
@@HOBOTECH Thanks.

Does not dose.
Anyone know the AMPs the 110 volt plugs can support.
I love your channel!!!
Has anybody run a Pecron E2000LFP laying on its back instead of upright? Trying to figure out if there's any problem with this, but can't seem to find any info online. Thank you!
I got four 250 watt, 12vdc panels to double charge with.
