What is the book on steam that you recommended on another video?
amzn.to/3t4pqng
Thank you.
I was going to say 9 buckets thinking the system seriously flooded. The education the homeowners recieved is beyond value. They also seemed like real good people . Hat tip on finding that 1950's permit...love seeing old items like that
Love seeing history like that oil tank permit.
Great Video, Mikey! You have a Very Satisfied Customer because you’re Overqualified. 👍🙏
I appreciate that!
The Milwaukee M Blower seems like a great investment for anyone working with steam heat
Safety first! I appreciate the warning about not attempting the repair without proper qualifications
I never thought about needing a furnace switch specifically for steam heat, the one they recommended seems reliable
The Mini Waterproof Storage bin seems like a convenient solution for keeping all the necessary tools organized
No
Wow a permit from 1955 on the wall still. Way to educate the home owners. Think im going to get me some tags and lable the valves at the house.
Great idea
The Wiha piece sounds like a versatile tool, it might come in handy when working on steam heat equipment
Wow, I had no idea there was so much to learn about steam heat in New York City!
More to come!
Its always good to have a reliable and bright light, like the Milwaukee Light, especially when working on intricate repairs
Very true!
House I sold in Whitestone in 21, 1927 build...1929 permit Coal to oil & buried tank permit, 1939 Garage build permit, 1970 Oil to Gas permit (drain tank, sand fill abandoned).
Damn. That’s some history
That mini waterproof storage bin is a great idea for keeping tools safe in a steamy environment
Its cool that theyve included Amazon links for all the tools mentioned, makes it easy to find and purchase them
Yup I sure do
McDonald Miller 67 probably full of mud keeping the float from dropping to signal low water. Good video waiting for part 2.
Cant wait to watch this video and expand my knowledge on steam heat and New York Citys unique heating system
Smart
You could add a contractor with a 127 Volt coil to control the 24v circuit. They cost about 30$
These recommended tools and equipment seem really handy for anyone working with steam Might have to check them out
Thanks 👍
Thumbs up for all steam vids.
Thanks
hey mike you are right you drain 6 buckets of water and cool videos to come and you know your stuff
Thanks 👍
Im glad they included the link for the Milwaukee PVC cutter, Ive been needing one of those
The Veto TP-XXL looks like a handy tool, I might need to add that to my collection
This video seems really informative, I cant wait to learn more about steam heat in New York City!
❤thanks for your videos they are so full of knowledge.
The Milwaukee Light seems like a useful addition to have for better visibility during repairs

4:22 the ohh moment 🤣
lol 😆
Good video mikey 👍
Glad you enjoyed
Such informative episode. Most homeowners have no idea how such important and expensive equipment works, and the annual maintenance requirements requirement
Thanks 🙏
Ive heard great things about the Milwaukee M Blower, might consider adding that to my toolbox
Why is everyone calling it the M? It’s M18
The Milwaukee M Fuel / Impact Driver looks like it could come in handy for steam repairs
Thanks
If you use a rebuilt control it should be rebuilt by original manufacture or you will lose the UL rating. Also the switches on them used to be replaceable. And the lower switch will make before the upper switch breaks so that it will feed water before it cuts off on low water.
Good job 😊😊😊
Thanks 😄
The HIKMICRO B looks like a pretty neat gadget, curious to see how its used in the video
B20
The HIKMICRO B looks intriguing, I wonder how its used in relation to steam heat
Thanks Mikey. I appreciate your videos. You should consider teaching🎓
Yeah right. I’m a horrible teacher
Im curious to see how the HIKMICRO B is used in dealing with steam heat
It’s the B20 thermal camera
Have you liked the wohler analyzer so far? Or still rocking the 320 primarily love the channel have made me a way better tech
Still rocking the 320
Good job Mike, Yeah, I was going to say that double switch is seem suspicious, like it was there to shut off the low water valve or refill valve, one or the other, but you can use a ice cube relay or 24 volt contactor to modify the circuit or update the equipment, I like your Trump hat on the dash board.
Thanks 👍
Mikey open the pod bay doors, Mikey open the pod bay doors, Mikey open the pod bay doors, lol
Do a video on hydronic boilers schooling
Little homeowner interaction with hydronic
You could still do a overview

The steam is going out into the system during on cycle and not returning until the off cycle. When theres a long on cycle the boiler water level gets low and the system autofills. When the boiler is in the off cycle alll the water returns including the excess and therefore it is overfilled. Diagnosing why this happens is where the real skill is involved?
Did the issue with the ignition system get resolved?
During tuneup it will
7 buckets 🪣 stream bolier
Ty
67 lwco can be 24 or 120 volt
Correct
Did you determine why it overfilled?
Homeowner error
5 buckets at least! Water coming out the radiator that’s quite a lot, not a full 5 gallon bucket
6
I may have missed, and the lady asked why was the boiler overfilled, I don't think you have a reason.
$5 permit. Wow, have times changed.
Who would have thought that a $5 permit would be considered a relic of the past? I guess we'll be reminiscing about this in the future!
7 buckets is my guess.
Close
8.5 buckets?
:)
7 buckets
7:12 + you're not even seeing the tips of the flame, so you cannot say "yellow tips", what you're seeing is dust and air contaminates being burnt off in the flame, which has a more distinct flickering and uneven orange color flame starting and ending at random heights. you'd have to remove the access panel and look up higher at the actual top of flames to judge it properly, but even then that much airborne contaminates burning off is near impossible to see and judge the flame. 🤓 not trying to bust bawlz, but help improve all.
Okay 👌
Mikey Pipes Driving School?
Lol 😆
No turn signal! F that guy!
F him indeed
Good old liberty Avenue…not
🤣
Hey Mikey, of Mikey Pipes Plumbing not easy being cheesy. I like your podcast/social media, looking thru some comments.I guess of your some customers still in on you. Hmm, cast iron boiler? You know back in the day, dealing with most women. I would be replacing that old rust bucket for a new rust bucket. lol. Love you buddy, might sound a little queer again. Jolly good show old boy, God save the King.
You were handing out knowledge like you were dangling jewelry in front of the natives! lmfao!
Knowledge is Power
The old girl needs TLC and maintenance that it has never had in the past…at least we know the boiler is intact from the high water level 🤷♂️
Yup. True indeed. She’s NOT a leaker ;)
Customers listening to you like you’re Jesus lmao
say at least 15
Haha imagine that !!!
