  • Got Steam? Pipe Doctor specializes in HVAC service and repairs. A common issue we encounter is the steam boiler automatic water feed failing and floods the steam system! The only other reason for a flooded steam boiler would be a failing indirect water heater.

    Well?? Oil is my baby ❤ dirty , stinky, an always money in my pocket . Guess I love them ( besides always leaving the job site nasty looking an smelling with my wife demanding to strip outside before coming in our home😂😂)But can be so dam many things. But if I May quote your words here….
    ” if you’re not testing, you’re guessing.”
    First I would isolate domestic I really don’t like to looks of that unit. An then check my sensors . If they all checked out ok then I would tie into the auto fill an shut down system. An also check the flame sensor. Make sure she’s crystal clean. But without being their ?🤷🏻‍♂️ but as to run stop run stop flame eyeball dirty or defective or could be a faulty, low pressure or high pressure cut out.. but let’s be honest here without having my meter in my hand and standing there? I am just GUESSING ❤❤❤

    The probe is the primary LWCO and feeder control. Probably a dirty sensor probe. Crooked vents is tacky work but nothing wrong with increased venting of the steam loops.

    @cuthbertelitwaza9474 Год назад

    That’s completely wrong, you cant have both Cycle guard and McDonald and Miller #67 wired together for LWCO . They should should wire that Cycle guard with auto feeder and remove that #67 from the boiler completely

    Another place to check is where the cold makeup water enters the hot boiler, scale can build up there and restrict the pipe and cause the water feeder to hang open after its deenergized, flooding the boiler, especially with a small 1/2" connection, hard water scale can cause this. I like to place a union there so it can be easily checked. If you dont know about it like this guy, the boiler will flood again after he leaves!

      @@PipeDoctor We exchanged notes on this kind of problem in the past. I think we agreed that it is better to do it the old fashioned way and just add some water manually if need be. Over the years, I have seen a few automatic feeders go bad an overfill your neighbors systems causing a lot of water damage. Anyway, you are a good man helping these people out. Stay well my friend.

      I think the vents risers were actually vertical plumb and the steam mains had that much pitch making it look odd.
      there's no telling how long ago they were drilled and tapped in there, could have been since original install an "zillion" years ago. 🥳
