We tip paul.. Before you mastic put some tape 2 or 3 mm from edge. Mastic up and remove immediately. A trick used all the time on boats for a neat finish..
Champion result Paul....good on ya. Haven't been as nervous watching you as I was since I watched Steve McQueen trying to outrun the Germans in his efforts to jump the fence on his motorcycle into Switzerland...!!
Nice job. One tip I picked up on 12v electrics is cut one cable 20mm longer than the other this will offset your crimps and avoid shorts. Waiting for next vlog.
How odd just as I was about to suggest you use insulated connections next time in the comments.... the black tape appeared.... lesson learned 😒 take care and keep up the good work.
I love watching people get up and give it a go. And not just that, having the balls to film it and share it with us all is fantastic. I applaud you. Keep going.
It takes a bit of bottle to start cutting up a van to fit parts that you have no experience in doing. Hat's off to you. The 11 thumbs down viewers at the time of watching this would be better giving you the benefit of their vast knowledge really.
Get up on the ladder and give it a good spray with the hose especially at the leading edge to simulate driving while it is raining then recheck for leaks.
You got yourself a tyre pressure gauge for all that motoring? Save yourself stress paying at petrol stations. Best sticker on a van seen, "Adventure before dementia" lol
Looking good Paul. I was just saying to my wife that I would have used insulated connectors and the you explained how you had a little issue with the connectors. Well done though, this turning out really well.
Very pleasing watching somone worthy of a Camper creating there own. Great the you have served your time as a true wild camper first. By creating your own camper you will far more attachment to the Camper. Greater sense of achievement. Keep going👍
Hi Paul just a tip, I would put bug mesh on the Inside and outside of your fan/vent. This make cleaning you fan in the future a hell of a lot easier! Trust me when you start cooking after a year or 2 you will have a banquet of dead I sects in your roof.
Another great Video Paul , you made it look easy , it on my and so many others people's bucket list I'm sure , so I'll be able to view them all again when I eventually get my baby 🙏 Thanks again for the content 👍 ps your wife Joe is a sweetheart 💚
Congratulations paul/Jo on 100,000 subs that's Sunderlands stadium filled twice and more well deserved marra's all the best stay safe #leavenotrace 👍🏕️
Good choice of fan Paul and fitted like a true professional. I had the Fiamma Turbovent in my old Motorhome and loved it. One tip I will give is to avoid driving with it open. I read that you can do this and as our old van had no air con we tried driving with it partly open but after hearing weird creaking noises from the lid decided it was best not to try again.
Fantastic! I'd love if you can report back in a couple of months driving. I want to do this to my van. Thanks for giving me the confidence that I can do this myself.
Something therapeutic about watching you install that fan...not sure it would be therapeutic if I had to do it lol! You made it look easy, super job, can't wait to watch your van journeys #VanLife
These Turbo vents are excellent. I have mine set at around 1/3 power. They are vented even when closed. I use it while travelling, as long as it is only lifted a couple of inches, it has been fine for 4 years used like this.
Brilliant and scary at the same time I'd leave the side door a little ajar when cooking or for some extra ventilation when needed , but not as good as that Motor Vent Excellent Video
Love the fact that the H and S guy forgot to insulate the bare metal connectors before plugging in. 😆 🤣 😂 congrats on reaching the big 100k mate, very well deserved.
Its a hell 9f a thing taking a saw to the van isn't it mate, I disappeared while my mates did it for me otherwise I'd have been a nervous wreck 😁😁...its looking awesome though mate nice one, atb Lee
Good effort, you did really well with installing the roof fan. I’m currently building a camping trailer and will be doing exactly the same soon... bit daunting. 🤞
Congrats on reaching the 100k subs. Maybe now you can kick the day job and do what makes you a happy chappy. Super that the fan fitting when smoothly, well done to you both.
What thinners did you use to clean the van before fitting the frame? Avoid things like white spirit, as it still leaves an oily residue that needs to be removed with something like acetone, panel wipe or brake cleaner..... White spirit also dissolves sealants. Learned this when I resealed our old caravan... Coated the remains of old sealant with white spirit, it just rubs off, then remove and clean the surface with something like brake cleaner.
Nice job Paul. It’s really important to be meticulous on the cleaning when sealing the likes of the fan as you know. You don’t want any problem further down the line. I don’t think the silver tape was overkill, as the prospectively damp air is being pulled out you don’t want it dampening the timber frame and maybe causing mould in time. Best to be stringent now and reap the rewards later. I did think watching the video that if your 2 cables touch it would create a short only for you to say that’s what happened overnight. As I said before in your videos, the way you are doing the build is showing a good standard of work and you are going to come out of this in the knowledge you know exactly what has been done. You can’t put a price on that.

Omg ....mr diy ....well done .....it’s coming along nicely!
Tip for drilling into metal: quick tap with a centre punch creates a dimple to stop the drill bit wandering.
I am a fan of the fan in the van
Nice job. One tip I picked up on 12v electrics is cut one cable 20mm longer than the other this will offset your crimps and avoid shorts. Waiting for next vlog.
Excellent video's. A really interesting project that you and Jo. Have took on.

Great work Paul. I am enjoying these videos.
13:10 Sounds like a hell of a turbine! Nice. So you can blast out hot air fast.
It takes a bit of bottle to start cutting up a van to fit parts that you have no experience in doing. Hat's off to you. The 11 thumbs down viewers at the time of watching this would be better giving you the benefit of their vast knowledge really.
....and the rest is easy!!! Well done, Sir!!!
Well done Paul ! ( You're a braver man than me - cutting a hole in the roof isn't for the faint-hearted )
Get up on the ladder and give it a good spray with the hose especially at the leading edge to simulate driving while it is raining then recheck for leaks.

Well done Paul. I had to drill through my canoe to fit lacing. I know how u felt.

Thanks buddy. I've been in the Stadium of Light when its full. Noisy and unforgiving if you're having a bad day 😂. Take care
Hurrah! Great work...use higher fan power settings frugally for obvious reasons!! The vent on its own will be super useful...
You broke the cardinal sin!!! Measure once cut twice
I just love it Paul! Please keep telling us what you’re doing with Ronnie, and keeping it real.
Looking forward to the next one 👍
Awesome job 👍. Cutting holes in the roof is a massive brown trouser moment. I bet the brown eye was winking !

Blimey that was a bravery test Paul! Excellent work mate👍🏻
Fine job mate; you're a true craftsman...Cheers
Fantastic! I'd love if you can report back in a couple of months driving. I want to do this to my van. Thanks for giving me the confidence that I can do this myself.
Congratulations Paul on your 100,000 subs, well deserved. 👍 Great video series regards the van. 👌
Well done - I'm using your videos to convince the wife that we can do the same 😊
The more you do yourself the more you want to do in future and it all just spirals from there 👍 Loving the series so far 😁
See Bob Wells’ CheapRVLiving vid on his ceiling fan.
Something therapeutic about watching you install that fan...not sure it would be therapeutic if I had to do it lol! You made it look easy, super job, can't wait to watch your van journeys #VanLife
