Building a Better Paper Towel Holder | No More Cheap Plastic

I recently broke my cheap, store bought, plastic paper towel holder. Its time to make one that looks better and that will last a lot longer too. I'm making one out of wood. This is an easy project to knock out in an afternoon, and since I've been under the weather, I thought this would be a great project to do.

How about drilling the keyhole at a 45 degree angle? That should work in either orientation and let you use the same holder if you ever have to move it.

That noise from a passing vehicle should put the noise maker in jail for driving without a muffler. Annoyingly Unacceptable Behavior.

My design was quite similar, except.... I drilled a 1-1/4" hole in the sides for a 1" dowel. Then, band sawed up from the OD of the hole to the top of the sides at a slight angle inward. Worked great.
