    This is pretty, and a great gift idea, but you typically want to store wine with the cork angles down so the wine keeps the cork moist. Otherwise the cork dries out, shrinks, and the wine goes bad

    if you got a 1 x 6 board and used a holesaw ( the size of the wine bottle diameter) down the middle of the board where you marked the curves to be - you could then just drill out the holes , cut the board into half so you end up with 2 1x3 pieces and then you have 2 frontt boards to lie your wine down on - would save having to jigsaw out the curves that way???

    Anna, that is beaitiful. Just one adjustment you should make with the storage function. The way you have it situated may allow corks to become dry and cause the wine to spoil. Idealy tjey shoukd be stored level or with the neck just a touch lower then level. Love your channel

      If you're going to be storing wine for a long time you want it tipped toward the cork. If you buy and drink your wine fairly regularly you can store them however you want. :)

    So do you put the poly or butcher's block finish instead of the varthane stain on top or after you apply the varathane stain? Sorry I am new to woodworking

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  4 года назад

      If you want to use the top for cutting into like a cutting board, only use butcher block sealer on the bare wood, as small pieces of wood may end up in the food when cutting
      If you want to use the top for serving (not cutting with a sharp knife, I would think a cheese knife is ok) then use any stain you like, but add a couple coats of poly to the top surface to seal the stain in the wood.

  • @phillipcarden7027

    There should be a hole saw in the size for the semi - circle cut outs. You know some child will try to move it when there is no bottom, shouldn't there be some kind of bottom? If you were going to stack and screw them together only the bottom rack would need to be covered.

  • @katherinegingras4626

    What a great project!! Do you think a hole saw would work for the holes?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY

      Yes! The only issue is the center of the hole saw is off the wood, so it's hard to start the hole saw.
