If you're like me and almost never upgrade your health/fp, I recommend making Zess Cookies, made by combining Cake Mix and Maple Syrup. It restores 15 HP and FP, for like...10 piantas each, which is easily gotten with any of the games (I'm usually most consistent on the Plane Game)
The recipe shown in this video can be made 5 coins cheaper by cooking the Life Shroom with another Turtley Leaf. If you've gotten the bag expansion from the Pit of 100 Trials, you can go buy 5 Life Shrooms (200-250 coins), head to Petalburg to grab 10 Turtley Leaves, and get 5 Horsetails from Petal Meadows. This full inventory can then be cooked up into 5 Zess Deluxe.
If you ever need to heal in the game, there's plenty of ultra shrooms and jammim jellies In the overworld to make all the jelly ultras you could ever need. Plus coins are absolutely plentiful and there's absolutely no reason you should be short on them. In general though, getting jelly Ultras made is extremely easy and especially in the remake. There is no excuse for not spending that amount of money especially since you're not going to be doing so during the main story because you'll never need to heal that much.

Mushroom + Point Swap = Honey Syrup Slow Mushroom + Point Swap = Poison Mushroom Poison Mushroom + Point Swap = Mushroom So unfortunately, this doesn't work. Interestingly though, the wiki says that in Japan, Poison Mushroom + Point Swap = Ultra shroom, as you said. However, I'm playing the remake in US, so for me, the same recipe just leads to a standard mushroom sadly

Now that I'm looking around, you can cut the cost of Jelly Ultras down from 400 to 240 by taking advantage of the merchant that peddles his wares in Rogueport's Square (not the item shop, but the guy that's wearing the red and white striped outfit). Sure, he gets random items every time he restocks, but the necessary ingredients only cost 120 from him.
Not sure how everyone else is doing on the Ultra Mushrooms, but I've been getting them like lollipops at the doctors. I have been getting lucky at the third prizes on the lottery though...
My question is: who is going to need both 50 HP *and* 50 FP? I'm just about done with the game and I've been rolling with 20 HP (+5 from the badge) and 30 FP with little issue; I think I'm at like 51 BP, though. This means that the "best" food is subjective...why would I make Zess Deluxe when there are "weaker" options with the same effect (that of fully topping me up)? My go-to recipes, then, are the ones that bolster either damage output (including the Dynamite) or deal with other ailments/encounters.
You can cook a mushroom steak by cooking an UltraShroom. Luckily, the game gives you more free ones than the Jammin Jelly for some reason so you can get one pretty early and save it for later
