    Cool dial! In top down view it reminds me of a Seiko Tuna...with some extra bulk. The extra lume plots next to the date windows on newish ISO 6425 certified divers are no bad thing. I can't stand spaces left empty next to date windows.

    Thats a big boy......i have a Citizen diver (different model) with eco drive, mine double ticked also when i first got it, but a few hours sunlight and it ran like a champ..It is my fave 'grab and go' watch, keeps excellent time.

  • @lookatwrist

    Packaging is regional. Mine came in an air tank cylinder. Most regions receive racks of watches without packaging at all, where they then put it in whatever they choose.

    It's the Ankylosaurus of dive watches ... big, clunky, awkward looking but gets the job done.

  • @ZCherish

    Sold these for a brief time when I worked at Citizen, it takes some time to "get" this watch but it's one of those watches that have a slow burn. It's actually pretty cool if you can get it at a good price.

    In 1960 the Bathyscape Trieste went to the bottom of the Marianas Trench 11000M with an experimental Rolex attached to the outside.The watch survived and was still working when they returned to the surface, this lead to the latest Deep Sea Challenge that did the same in 2012 with James Cameron. That leaves the 1,300M record for the Citizen Diver in the shade some what. Interesting watch but a little to big for most people. Excellent video as always Gary. 👍⌚🙄

    • @DanboShaw
      @DanboShaw 2 года назад +4

      Have you seen what those Rolexes looked like? The 2012 watch was an incredible 28.5 mm thick, while the 1960 was even thicker, 38 mm. By comparison, a hockey puck is 25.4 mm thick! They were never intended for a person to actually use as a dive watch, and were not for sale to the general public -- in other words, they were a publicity stunt. By contrast, the Citizen entered serial production and was sold as a real dive watch.

    • @defender1006
      @defender1006 2 года назад

      Yes, but the Citizen is both affordable and you don't have to pass a "special, but unspecified test', to be able to join a list to buy one, so that's a double win then!

  • @brianmsahin
    @brianmsahin 2 года назад +3

    It's a nice looking watch. It might be worth checking out that Pagani homage that @Khonjel Singh mentioned! Looks good for people who like this. As a diver myself it does intrigue me, but would have to think twice about the style. It's very military/camouflage looking and I know many people do like it. I can imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing this in the jungle fighting against the alien in the Predator movie!

  • @KMV007
    @KMV007 2 года назад +1

    The Predator watch😀.
    I tried it on one day, it doesn’t wear that big due to the small dial.
    I would get one if it didn’t have a 24mm lug width, good luck finding replacement straps.

  • @joelfallon1958
    @joelfallon1958 2 года назад

    At first sight I thought it would look bigger on the wrist, actually looks very nice. Another couple of mm of dial would really make it a good looking watch, maybe a less chunky apperence. I love the eco drive movement, a big fan of solar quartz technology, as I can put on and go and no need to set.

  • @andrewfriedman7571
    @andrewfriedman7571 Год назад

    Nice review! No, I have never paid full retail for Citizen or Seiko watches. I purchased this one (the yellow-hued version w/black dial) for $225. I think the buried/underneath lugs make the Seiko tuna a good comparison, but the citizen ‘Ecozilla’ pro diver is another good comparison point…as is the citizen titanium mechanical diver with a similarly aggressive bezel design.

      @@khonjel_singh I went straight to AE to look at that. Lol. It's pretty nice from the photos. Not my style of watch dial but a lot of people will like it. That's a good rule of thumb too, I agree completely! though there is a very good company many people forget about or don't know for quartz, Pulsar, owned by Seiko since 1978 and make great quartz chronographs. I got a solar quartz from them a couple of weeks ago, a Pulsar PZ 5115X, fantastic watch, great quality and stunning looks!

      Citizen for quartz ? What about the seiko spring drive.....

    • @khonjel_singh
      @khonjel_singh 2 года назад +2

      @@facebiter I mean spring drive is a hybrid. Not strictly quartz or mechanical. Citizen quartz as in their eco-drive quartz not to mention those Bulova high beat quartz too.
      And while it’s fun to love flagship specs like spring drive, have you seen the prices? To me seiko's NH movements are reliable, repairable, replaceable, readily available movement.
