    I have the Q350's using an Emotiva power amp..they are not 'blurry' or harsh...every other reviewer says the midrange is slightly warm with a great treble with better bass quality... they need 200-300 hrs with a burn in disc & and plenty Rap music...they have holographic imaging, huge....the only bad review of the Kef Q350's i have seen....at £449 plus £100 worth of any speaker cable ...a bargain....i chose 6m of QED XT400..i luv the sound of the Q350's....all our ears are different....

    I like the perspective of the test.For this price range must have better quality of construction.I have wrfs 225's and they are top notch quality.And the packaging,like a jewellery!!Looking for a second pair...Sweet mids and highs and shocking bass to 37hz.

    I thought the same at first, but the KEF needs a good break-in. They are wonderful once broken in. Metallic sounds at first, but after breaking in, they are detailed and silky smooth.

    Completely agree with this. I ordered a set of !350's and a 150 center speaker. The center speaker was a joke, it sounds like a TV speaker, so that was going back anyway. Then I hooked up the Q350's.It's not that they were bad, but I wasn't blown away either. They lack warmth and indeed, vocals sound thin. I compared them to my Mordaunt Short Mezzo 2 speakers, which were overall superior. I really wanted to like them, but returned them and kept my old speakers.

    Hello!Absolutely great review-and I read the comments,I think the same of them 90% on the side of the wharfedales.
    I owned a lot of loudspeakers (started hi-fi hobby in 1992) and in an era I collected wharfedale loudspeakers.
    I love them beacuse of warm sound with good bass extension,pairable any electronics,easy to drive them.
    I loved my 10.2 s but I had a problem with them: at a bass frequency they hummed so was not clear and cunfused me in music listening.
    This problem came when I stepped up in the amp section and changed to a wider ranged,more serious amp.The 10.2 s could not handle
    the bass section.
    I changed them to Heco Elementa 300 s and the problem solved..The bass was bold,full and now without humming or distortion.
    But something was missing: the warm mid-bass,the enjoyable male vocals,and a little sparkling,a little liveness...
    So I turned back to wharfedales,but now to the 11.2s.The best wharfedales what I ever heard in this category.
    I enjoy again my older and fresh acquired records,with full bass,clear & good detailed mids (oh that vocals) and sparkling highs.And a big pro for wharfedales: enjoyable and full bodied sound at low volumes both movies and music far better against the kefs.
    I concluded after several years - in this category I found that the best lousdspeakers 1.wharfedale 2.canton 3.mordaunt short
    I am waiting for some new wharfedale production what will be more serious than the diamonds and makes my heart skip a beat.

    Thats a very strange finding with the 350s.. could it be a pairing/synergy issue?? I know wharffies are some of the friendliest speakers ever made as it works well with just about anything but the kefs are like verry sensitive to equipment pairing.. and it loves more power

    I have the Diamond 10.1 and today went in a shop to listen to the Q350... At first it sounded better.. More detail and better midrange. But then I got home and listened to ky speakers again... The wharfedale sounds much softer... Warm... I prefer the wharfedale... Probably the KEF need some run in... I don't know... But I might not upgrade...

    In my experience the Kefs need 300 hours of burn-in before final judgement. I own the Kef Q350 and agree with most of your descriptions including an ever so slight metallic flavour, so it's good to hear your honest review. And although I agree with your criticisms, I don't think you gave them enough credit for what they can do so well. The co-axial driver produces ping pong-like stereo effects across the stage that are more pin-point in location than anything I've heard. In my experience they're more likely to sound somewhat muffled close to a wall. But I listen to them 5 feet from any walls where they sound open and airy with a lively, spacious image. Listen to them 20 degrees off axis to tame any sharpness, and leave the ports open, without any plugs. You can also place them really wide apart like I do, and still get a centre image. They sound like a big brother to my Q150, only with more bass and body. Granted the Q350 has its quirks and as you say, its up to an individual's taste what they prefer. And yes, the Q350 sounds more coloured than my Kef LS50 METAs, but I sometimes wonder if the Q350 might sound more real.

    • @MAudiophile
      @MAudiophile  4 месяца назад

      True. I was a bit too harsh probably. But I genuinly liked Q150s more. Check out my review on them. To me, they felt more coherent and clear in mids. Some say coaxial driver performs better at 5" compared to 6.5". Maybe, that's also why LS50 has 5".

    • @geevee1045
      @geevee1045 4 месяца назад

      I just finished giving the Q150 and Q350 another listen. In my opinion, the Q350 is better balanced. It has warmth to balance the highs, whereas the Q150s lack of bass reveals the treble emphasis. Yes, the limited bass of the Q150 is tighter, whereas the Q350 bass is bloomier, but this extra bass aids in creating a bigger image. Where the Q150 might possibly surpass the Q350 is if it was combined with a subwoofer. I think the Q150 needs a subwoofer, a bassy amp, or tone controls to counteract the treble emphasis. That's how it sounds at my place. It may be different in your room.
      I also wanted to change my statement where I wondered if the Q350 might sound more real than the METAs. Upon further listening, the META shocks me with live sounds occasionally appearing in my room. That never happens with either Q150 or Q350. @@MAudiophile

    • @MAudiophile
      @MAudiophile  4 месяца назад +1

      @@geevee1045 True. Various room and setup related things influences opinion, as well as general sound preference :)
      I agree on the the LS50 Metas. I had oppurtunity to listen them. Quite interesting, though still a relatively neutral speaker. Maybe, will do review on them in the future ;) Enjoy fine speakers!

    • @geevee1045
      @geevee1045 3 месяца назад

      OK, I just tried the Q150 about 5 feet from all walls and with a Subwoofer, in a larger room. Other than being a touch lean, that's an amazing sound per dollar! I may have sounded a little more negative on the Q150 than I actually meant to. It's an excellent speaker when you consider it's one quarter of the price of the Meta and half the price of the Q350 when I bought it on sale. The Q150 strengths are that it requires less power, is airier and more lively than the darker, more demanding, power hungry META. And continuing on the positive side, the Q150 is cleaner and tighter than the richer Q350. The Q150 on sale at $300 CDN plus a sub-woofer is surprisingly good. And maybe a giant-killer at that price. But when price isn't considered, the Q150 still comes in third place compared to the 2x pricier Q350 and LS50 META in my system. I enjoy your channel. It's good to hear your honest opinions.@@MAudiophile

    What you are essentially saying here is, that the Wharfedale have overblown highs (also seen on measurements) while the KEF is more neutral.

    • @MAudiophile
      @MAudiophile  3 года назад +1

      I strongly disagree. From my listening KEF had much more sibilance and metalic feel to the highs (well-known case with metal tweeters).

      Would be interesting to see the measurements. I have the Q150s and the Q350 on the way. When I get round to it I will so some measurements and see what I can find. The Q150 have a very mellow sound though...much more HF rolloff than my Canton B100

    • @MAudiophile
      @MAudiophile  3 года назад

      @@rolandrohde I've heard many people say Q150 actually sounds vastly better than Q350 so I can't speak about that model. Though, I can't imagine harshness go away but perhaps it's more balanced and refined sound with more separation. Still, (of corse less important note) build quality and packaging is probably as unacceptable as in this case.

      My Q150 were perfectly packed and the build quality is flawless. Only time I ever had issues with build quality so far was Klipsch. Both the RP600M and the SPL150 are just badly and cheaply put together.
      I currently run the Q650C Center btw...and that has no trace of sibilance and harshness either...and it's the same UniQ as the Q350. Well, I look forward to testing the 350s...will see how they do.
