Dear god, I think that Pulse is five beats over four beats in a single bar, a true poly-rhythm! I'm not 100% sure because my ear isn't all that good, but it really sounded like it in the last couple of measures where things simplified. If so, that is one hell of a difficult thing to do as an ensemble; it's pat your head and rub your tummy whilst someone hits you in the face with a burning Atlantic Trout hard.
Towering, remarkable musicianship...! Genuinely happy to have discovered this jaw-dropping ensemble. Thanks NPR Tiny Desk for once again helping me depleting my perennially crippled bank account with another CD acquisition...
Surprised so many people liked Pulse the best here. It sounds like a lot of major scales descending to me, starting at different places, kind of deconstructed. Atmospheric and purposely vague. The first piece was great once it got going and the third piece too, and very good musicianship throughout of course.
what album is the last track from?.....new to this lot as a big Reich fan and have a job finding stuff like it......Nik Bartch is also a big fave of mine.
I played with them a few weeks ago. Not only are they brilliant artists, but they're brilliant teachers and choreographers as well.

They are among the very best interpreters of modern innovative classical music.
Is Michael Maccaferri's beard the source of his clarinet power?
He's discovered what Neil Fallon from Clutch already knows.
Very magical and unusual music. So much talent in such a small space. Thank you.
It's different and wonderful. My ears needed to hear this
You to are funny. I enjoyed it myself, crazy and great.
whenever I hear something like this I wonder, how did these people come together to create something so great?
right??? this is so awesome
The group initially got together as students at Oberlin Conservatory.
love this group have been following for the last 15 years or so very innovative and charismatic
pulse was so beautiful and magical it felt like the soundtrack to some sort of big open-world game with a heavy emphasis on exploration
They are so graceful! What an amazing connectedness they share. Beautiful!
Still incredible! Os vi em Chicago cerca de 13 anos atrás. Me encantei. Sorte humana continuarem ressoando!
Absolutely love their music! Makes me want to dance :)

THIS IS TRULY AMAZING. "PULSE" ALMOST MADE ME CRY AND THAT BASS DRUM IS SUCH A GREAT PUNCH, ACCENTING THE RIGHT PARTS. REALLY ENJOYED THIS.
When they finished "Pulse" It felt like time stopped.
Once again, I'm glad I subscribed to this channel.
I'd love to see Güngör on the Tiny Desk. They have a similar instrumental sound to some of what was in this one.
That Pulse piece was one of the most moving pieces I've ever heard.
FULLY AGREE
The intro to the video is amazing.
That piano part in the 3rd piece, Learn to Fly. Yeah!
I love it! Classical Rush!!!
Striking how similar the different works are, all very antiseptic, like clean plastic or corporate architecture.
The last song is magical!!!
Frank Zappa's wind band
exactly my thoughts
More like Gentle Giant, but with even better musicianship.
Whoa! an original that sounds like Zappa!
First I've heard.
Pulse was my favorite though!
Brilliant!
Interesting. I think I kinda like it. I hear a bit of Jethro Tull influence.
I hear Stravinsky.
Great! Difficulty = Hard

Not my cup of tea but they are great musicians
Reminds me of the Son of Chamber Symphony

That was fantastic, in any case!
Excellent. Wow!

Pulse made me gigle under my breath. Then I pictured Jack Nicholson dodging cracks in the sidewalk.
I study piano with the pianists' former teacher Mr. Hatheway- he is brilliant
