You saw him well before most of us. Our little Athens GA PR firm signed them on in December of 2013 and were able to elevate their exposure through a college and NPR radio campaign. People either loved or hated their sound, the majority of course, loving it. My only moment with Paul was sitting and having dinner with him at the now defunct Branded Butcher restaurant before a show at the Georgia Theater in Athens GA as we sat down with a group from the Grammy's & Recording Academy Atlanta office, including amazingly sharp Michele Caplinger.. ANyway, I ramble but was glad to see your post. They're just So good, and had a terrific show at the Georgia Theater. ..I miss them, as they are now a 'previous' client of our little PR firm Team Clermont. They moved on to a bigger firm and we respect them for that. loving seeing the success. congrats.
true indeed. im from peru and we just get only really bad pop music from usa. since i discover that 2 youtube channel my faith has been restored. great, great music.
I work concert security and have seen a TON of bands but nobody compares to this lead singer. I was fortunate to work their New Year's show. Truly talented.
I'm gonna be honest I've always aligned myself with metal music, but it hasn't been giving me "that feeling" anymore. However, this right here is giving me "that feeling" I haven't felt in years. I'm buying their album as we speak.
Although your comment is 5 years old I gotta answer to that because it's so exactly how it's for me. Metal music except for some exceptions just doesn't give me that feeling it used to anymore. But these guys... damn
No one music genre is ever gonna give "that feeling" forever unless you're musically close minded. Ive been on a 4 almost 5 year music journey (aye about the same time as you probably) and im listening to just about everything now. Metal is where is started for me too.
I second this about Marcus King...I used to be one of those people that only listened to a few bands in a single genre.....now I listen to EVERYTHING I find on KEXP, Tiny Desk, Mahogany, a few other great channels, I love it! Rap? Great! Metal? Great! Experimental folk? Awesome! Bring it all....found Aldous Harding, the Idles, King Gizz, Alabama shakes (and Brittany Howard!), sylvan esso, amyl n the sniffers, greta van fleet, rival sons, Tom Mcdonald, hobo johnson... soooo many others this way!
What an incredible breath of fresh air from what is currently out there. Thank you St. P and the BBs for bringing back the Memphis sound and in particular the late great Big. O. (Otis Redding to the uninformed).
this band has changed my life - so soulful, so heartfelt, so real - music is so magical - words cannot express the reality that is St Paul and The Broken Bones - Good God All Mighty!
The guitarist, Browan Lollar, was the guitarist for Jason Isbell's 400 Unit. The keyboardist, Al Gamble, is the brother of Chad Gamble, the drummer who absolutely beats the shit out of those skins for the 400 Unit. It's that Muscle Shoals sound I grew up with in the 70's and I love it.
I heard an interview, when after jamming with the St Paul band the guitarist said he had to be part of this, and quit his other band....I say GOOD call, this is something special....
This is a truly amazing band. I am a metal head to the core, but I have also love talent, I love jazz, I love classical, and I LOVE this. I got to see them live last year live in Charleston, WV. Show BLEW me away.
I discovered this group through iTunes single of the week. I totally love their sound. I used to live in New Orleans and they take me back to those days of awesome bluesy music. I wish them so much deserved success.
The song "It's Midnight" reminds me of those ole country juke joints we used to go to back in the day. They were deep in the woods and it would be hot with no air, no liquor license but a bootlegger on staff (usually the owner...lol), full of beer a jar each of pickled pigs feet, pickled eggs, hot pickled sausage along with sweat, funk and some sho-nuff partyin'! Wow!
Love, love, love this band. The lead vocalist is preaching the Gospel, the horn section is so tight it makes my boots hurt from my toes curling up, and the rhythm section is really running the show, but doesn't let on, just like a good rhythm section should. Y'all are on my radar, next time you make it down to the Mobile area.
This band, this man, this talent restores faith in today's music. I wonder why mainstream media thinks the junk they put out is ok. It's insulting. In that respect, I hope this band stays far away from what is "popular." Stay true to your beautiful soulful selves.
This is the first band I've heard in about 25 years that grabbed me right from the first measure of the first song. Separate issue -- who knew that David Spade turned up as a DJ in Seattle?
@10:01 - Tom York (November 30, 1924 - August 1, 2021) was an American television personality, who worked for WBRC in Birmingham, Alabama, from 1957 to 1989. - While he served in several capacities with the station, he is best remembered for The Tom York Morning Show, which was the station's primary morning show for 32 years. During the early 1960s, Fannie Flagg served as his co-host. The show was so popular that when WBRC's parent network, ABC, premiered its own morning show, Good Morning America, WBRC refused to carry it since it would have required moving York's show to another timeslot or canceling it altogether. WBRC began airing the second hour of GMA in the early-1980s, and only began airing the entire show in 1989 after York retired. York died August 1, 2021, aged 96. In his last years he had been living in a retirement community outside of Birmingham. - His wife of 73 years, Helen Hamilton York, died on October 13, 2021.
@@defstrikem2743 There is plenty of soulful music left in the South.....As for Alabama, might I recommend Jason Isbell, The Alabama Shakes, Banditos, Lee Bains III and The Glory Fires, and Anderson East.
This band is pretty damn amazing. Sad story, I was out at the bars here in Tuscaloosa, AL and Walked in to a Place called Green bar where they were playing to see two buddies. Before, I had seen posters for them all over the bar. Anyhow, I walk in and told them "Man! this band is pretty fucking good!". Here's the sad part. I end up only staying 5 mins because i was out with some other friends, and not a day goes by i wish i had ditched my other group of friends and stayed lol.
The audio engineer guy from the studio, did also a fantastic job here! Amazing! Among all the videos from SPBB through youtube, I always go back to this one as my favorite in audio balance!

Just saw them in Greenville, SC at "Fall for Greenville". I was anticipating seeing and hearing them and I was NOT disappointed. They are fantastic. I highly encourage anyone to go to their concert. You will have a great time and you will be dancing even if you don't dance. You just can't help it. Their music moves your spirit and soul. Worth your time and expense. What you experience is Paul's passion oozing out of his music and the group follows suit. As a disclaimer, I am not getting paid to say this. Get their schedule and try to see and hear them.
I’m sat round the pool on vacation crying like a damn fool! Thank god for St. Paul and the broken bones, the teskey brothers, the Marcus king band and Allen Stone….. please recommend any others to check out
Soul for the 21st century. How come this guy sounds like Al Green one moment then Otis Reading the next? Have not heard anything like this, what a band, what a sound.
Going to see them Friday night, they're amazing. Reminds me of the good ole soul music I listened to from that small transistor radio under my pillow every night.
My son, George turned me on to St. Paul & Broken Bones two days ago. I raised him right.
you made me cry... I'm in a soft spot today, but man, even though maybe a joke, goddamn kids are awesome individuals!
I agree totally! My son Jerome just introduced them to me two hours ago!! 😂
Yes you did
I always said Paul would make it. Can't believe it's been almost 10 years since he played in my apartment for my 21st birthday.

KEXP and NPR are saving this country's soul.
Absolutely. Good point.

If I was driving and this came on the radio, I'd pull over. Damn.
Gob smackingly good. I'd probably crash the damn thing!
Nothing can replace actual musicians playing music. Luv this band.
Well said
I work concert security and have seen a TON of bands but nobody compares to this lead singer. I was fortunate to work their New Year's show. Truly talented.
He's the chit man
Real music and a real voice.....WOW😃

One of the few artists I only like to see live.

This is the best music I've heard all summer long
What an incredible breath of fresh air from what is currently out there. Thank you St. P and the BBs for bringing back the Memphis sound and in particular the late great Big. O. (Otis Redding to the uninformed).
O
Paul from Accounting gets FUNKY on the weekends.
That first song, "Like a Mighty River" is one of the best songs/performances I have ever seen.
This guy on vocals got a soul!
this band has changed my life - so soulful, so heartfelt, so real - music is so magical - words cannot express the reality that is St Paul and The Broken Bones - Good God All Mighty!
"Call Me" is sublime to me, it doesn't get better, that's like burt bacharach and otis redding all at once
I've never heard a white boy sing like Otis and Green put together. Impressed.
You should check out Josh Tesky and the Tesky Brothers! Same amount of soul, maybe more!
Aint he it?
Holy Christ!!! Minute 6:16 gave me chills... These guys are a level not heard in a loooooong time!!!
For whatever reason, when he yells, "GOOD GOD!" at the end of Call Me, I get super pumped.
You damn right it is!!!
Made In Network That is my FAVORITE song!!!!!!!
Hellllll yeah!!!
This sounds so good, my Father needs to hear it. He blessed my ears with Soul at a young age and I feel like I need to share this talent with him

It sounded like the drummers last name is Lee.
Michael Burke I was referring to Chad Gamble, drummer of the 400 Unit, being the brother of SP&BB's keyboardist Al Gamble.
Gotcha. The family connection.
Thanks GOD; I think we can all benefit from this. What a breathe of fresh air!
Man I love this sound to the max! I love his voice and the horns just knock it right on outta the box! Awesome group!
Paul is awesome! Every time we go see them, my lady and I dance the whole time

My new favorite band! This guy has soul
Okay, this guy and Rachael Price of Lake Street Dive need to have a duet album ASAP.
Yesterday would be nice
World might implode if that happened.
It's so cool that you know both bands! Soulmate hahaha
These guys are the truth. Period. No matter how crappy my day may be, they always make me feel better. Love 'em.
Muscle Shoals! Shoulda known, channeling all that southern soul soaked in those hallowed walls.
I discovered this group through iTunes single of the week. I totally love their sound. I used to live in New Orleans and they take me back to those days of awesome bluesy music. I wish them so much deserved success.
amazing voice. amazing band
10/10
I saw them as an opening gig a few years ago and I've loved them ever since
The song "It's Midnight" reminds me of those ole country juke joints we used to go to back in the day. They were deep in the woods and it would be hot with no air, no liquor license but a bootlegger on staff (usually the owner...lol), full of beer a jar each of pickled pigs feet, pickled eggs, hot pickled sausage along with sweat, funk and some sho-nuff partyin'! Yes.. This is a great find. I'm happy
"Grass Is Greener" gives me goosebumps
Host is like "Dude! You could sing the phone book, and it would sound amazing!"
What a voice! What a voice
Many congrats on the Stones gig. You guys ROCK!
I am in love with them, I just can't get enough! His voice is music to my ears.
Love, love, love this band. The lead vocalist is preaching the Gospel, the horn section is so tight it makes my boots hurt from my toes curling up, and the rhythm section is really running the show, but doesn't let on, just like a good rhythm section should.

My goodness.. He's good!
Not at all what I expected, totally blown away. Divine.
The album is a classic out of the gate. Al Green vocals with a southern twang.
Well he stole my heart tonight. Welcome to my new favorite 010119 Happy blue new year. I love you!!!
These guys are simply great, i went to their concert in Paris the end of march.... one of the best live ever..... !!!!! Wooooh

This band has saved today's music. Can't stop listening to it!!!
This is the first band I've heard in about 25 years that grabbed me right from the first measure of the first song.
Separate issue -- who knew that David Spade turned up as a DJ in Seattle?
He looks like David Spade and Jesse Eisenberg had a baby.
The 3rd song "Call me" is going to be on a cell phone commercial. I'm calling it.
I'll come back and comment when that happens, ha.
