Great Videos! Quick question: Why couldn’t you use the engines in the beginning at the maneuver in the harbour and had to rely on the tug drivers?

I know this would never happen because obviously they have every reason to be discrete and preserve their privacy, but wouldn't it be fascinating to hear from the owners themselves and gain at least a glimmer of an insight into their experience owning this magnificent property and how they've come to entrust it to this consummately professional crew?

there's a reason they say that the cost of maintaining a vessel is between 10-20 percent of its purchase price yearly. the owner doesn't charter to make money. he charters so he can spend 6 weeks a year on his boat and it costs him nothing to do so. the charters pay for the crew and maintenance. by not continuously updating and fixing things immediately you are just kicking the can down the road. they say the 2 happiest days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it. this boat will need to be sold one day. it makes it a hell of a lot easier to sell a boat if it has been looked after well its entire life and believe it or not whether it has been used consistently. a boat that doesn't go to see is a boat that's rotting away in a marina. some boats become marina queens and the costs are the same whether or not the boat runs or not, its just the engines and all mechanical systems are not made to not be used.

I spent a week on Antigua some years ago. I asked the guide about the houses between the airport and resort looking so shabby, and she said they don't bother going super flash as they have to regularly repair after big storms. She also pointed out the houses mostly had some nice cars parked outside, so not to worry about the locals because they were doing OK. My other big memory was the man who patrolled the resort at night carrying a shotgun. I asked why he needed the gun and he said it was for cows that roam onto the grounds. Yeah, right! Anyway, Loon is looking super sweet after the refurb, and goodness knows what it all must have cost? Especially the Bridge update. I've already seen the new tender video, and that's dream boat all by itself. Paul had the throttles pegged with all 1700hp pushing the boat to 50MPH. Google tells me that was using 560 litres of fuel per hour, and Paul must have been a good half hour at WOT. That must be a couple thousand dollars in fuel cost!

Okay..your explanation of the exhaust was wrong . NOx = nitrogen oxides.., and the filter you pointed to was a diesel particulate filter..DPF.. it filters soot from the exhaust, then when the soot builds up, diesel is injected to incinerate the soot @600c...Now when exhaust temp increases NOx is produced..and would be treated with diesel exhaust fluid =DEF (AUS-40),and a SCR filter which your vessel doesn't appear to have being built in 2010.

Correct that the burners are to remove carbon. You are not wrong but when in front of the camera, not always correct things are said 😅 Rotation chief position available.... 😉

No worries...force of habit. I have been working on diesels for the last 25 years...All makes and models. Way before common rail injection ,DPF, DEF and my diesels had wheels or tracks on them. Also next to no room to work on them... @@LoonEngineer

You did all that in just three weeks?!
I expect the removal of the satellite domes will reduce wind resistance. Probably won't be huge, but it will result in at least some fuel savings.

Yeah, it should reduce wind resistance a little, along with the weight savings, bringing down the COG and making us a little more stable at anchor.
