Many Thanks Alex for this review. Having never owned a looper before i heard that many people give up quickly when they get one as they are a bit hard to control initially. The main problem i had is that the instruction booklet is so small its almost impossible to read unless you eat lots of carrots.. Seriously it comes in a small box so i guess you cannot expect the yellow pages ; It's a common problem nowadays especially with a lot of imported stuff so thanks for making things clearer..
Amazing. I usually don't like knockoff pedals because they often have noise, but this is an exception!!! My 140$ Ditto died so I took a chance on this 70$ one last week and it's much better than the Ditto, plus 1/2 the $$ ! Highly recommend this pedal. Clean sound and bypass, plus the ability to add and save loops is a deal breaker. Good review!!
I just got this pedal and haven't figured out all the great stuff in it yet. You are a real good teacher and this video is excellent! Love the color of your axe and the pick guard and the musical sounds you use are tops! I'm an old retired session drummer from the 70's and now play 12 instruments and have worked in many of the top Studios in NYC, and your skills back then would have made you a top engineer in all the studios I worked in. I like to give credit where credit is do. So thanx for helping this old bastard have fun with his geetars! hahahahahaha.......
@@AlexPriceMusician I also subbed your channel and will check out all the other goodies you have, I have always believed we are never to old to learn new things.
Thanks for this video :-) first one I've come across that shows importing into the looper. Got mine arriving tomorrow and looking forward to messing around :-)
This pedal is great and good video too. I accidentally deleted my whole loop, but I had already exported one version of it beforehand. I tried to drag that export back into the loopers files, but it did not allow me to. is there a certain way to go about this, if at all possible?
Hello, about the layers/overdubs recorded on top of the first recording, the duration of the next recordings must be the same as the first one? Does the pedal not allow the next layers to have their recording duration time free?
to: Bob Bissonnette Hey Bob, how's the pedal holding up? Still working well? Thanks for asking..I only use it once in a while...my goto is the TC one, but it's still working perfectly. For the $$ it's a good buy.
Where is this USB Footswitch you mentioned at about 5:30 into your video? I just ordered Lekato Pro and would like the switch with my foot. I think you said Lekato has their footswitch but I can't find their website quickly. Thanks and Great video.
I have this looper and it works fine for electric guitars but when I run a daxophone (look it up) with a contact microphone into it, the playback of sections with prominent low frequencies contains lots of discontinuities/clicks. Interestingly, when I look at the wav file via USB transfer, it 's clean with none of the discontinuities. I get the same clicks if I rotate the output level knob while a loop is playing. Maybe the output level control software still has bugs. On a related note, where can I get firmaware updates and instructions on how to install them? Thanks.
If you loaded in a backing track via a PC I assume once you've overdubbed it once you've lost the "empty" backing track and need to reload it via the PC ?
Hi Alex, Thank you for the video, I bought the same pedal after watching your video. However, one day I turned the power off and returned a couple of days later to find the screen LED lights on purple, which is not in the manual. I'm not sure what's going on, is there anything else I could try?
That’s odd. I haven’t seen purple lights at all on mine and I haven’t had any issues. Is it operating normally? And have you tried connecting it to your computer yet?
I got this looper, if you overdub, half way thought the first recording. When you play back all the overdubs start at the beginning. i want all overdubs to start at a parts in the recording.
I have the same looper. I have no problems with over dub, I also have the additional page tuner, which when linked together gives foot pedal access to the other loops.
Yes, that's another fault of the pedal, you can't do "insert overdubs" they'll all start at the beginning even if it was a short overdub, I bought one of these and returned it, It records the "click" of the switch every time you press it, after a few overdubs you get a lot of annoying background clicks that ruin the loop, it has very cheap non isolated electronics inside, it is NOT true Bypass either as advertised!, it was faulty and I think it was also a counterfeit, there are several people selling the same pedal on Aliexpress and they don't want to accept it's faulty, I had to raise my claim to Aliexpress management, I urge people not to buy this pedal on Aliexpress from the seller "Pro Music & Camera Gear Store", they're awful and sell defective and counterfeit products, they'll send you one saying "Loop Stage" instead of "Loop Station", it looks the same but it's a cheap counterfeit, it's like buying Chinese "Mike" instead of original "Nike"
Nice playing, Alex. But I need another looper that does 23 functions and only has one footswitch like a hole in the head. Mine has two 10-minute loops that you can alternate between and overdub. that's if I can remember when to tap, double-tap, tap-and-hold, double-tap slowly, long press, and then remember what it means when the LEDs turn blue, red, purple, flashing blue, flashing red, and flashing purple (I had to go back to the manual just now to remember for sure how many colors there were). It's useless for all intents and purposes unless I give up several hours of actual GUITAR practice to learn how to use the thing for any more than a basic loop once and play-over. This race to have the smallest pedals and pedalboards has become an obsession since everyone seems to think they need a couple of thousand dollars worth of pedals at their feet. I'd be happier with fewer functions and more footswitches. I can't imagine how I would put that thing with those wav files into any practical use without a photographic memory. And BTW, are there separate outputs for guitar out and wav out, (maybe you covered that and I missed it) because that would seem necessary? OK, I think I got that off my chest...
I’ll agree with you to a point. I found this pedal easy to use despite all the features. I mean really, all you need to know to use it are the simple start, stop, and overdub controls of the single switch. The extra features are there for those who would like them and if not, it still function great as any other looper would. It would be nice to have a dedicated output for wav files. I agree with that - but that’s really not possible in this small format. I appreciate the small footprint and don’t have a problem using it. Some might. If you want something bigger, there are other options.
I actually have four loopers on my board at the moment - the HX Stomp, Empress Reverb, Empress Echosystem, and the Lekato. I still choose to use the Lekato because the looper functions in my Empress pedals are clunky and in the HX Stomp, we only have the one-button looper and I cant tweak the volume of it once it starts. The Helix looper I also believe is limited to how many overdubs you can do. Another fault is that once you stop the loop, you can’t delete it without it playing again for a split second. Awkward if you’re trying to use it in a live environment. I genuinely like the Lekato. I find it easy to use and the functions of the single switch are very well thought out, even if it might seem a bit complicated. Thanks for your thoughts Nicky. Everyone has their own opinion and yours is entirely valid.
@@AlexPriceMusician I don't think the Helix has those limitations, and there's a 6-button in addition to the 1-button. I haven't run into any serious limitations yet, but I'm not a big looper user like you. The only problem I have had an issue with is you can only undo the last overdub, if you have more than one, you can't clear it, you have to switch presets and then return. I'm hoping this will be fixed in update 2.9 which should be out soon. Honestly, I mainly use it for running loops at the front of the signal chain to hear what the effects of the other blocks will have. Happy playing, and keep the videos coming, bro!
What are your thoughts on having a tuner at the end of your chain? I love that there's a tuner built in to this looper but wondered about the placement since you'd have to put it at the end? Thanks for the video by the way as I picked one up!
A little less conventional for sure but not terrible. I would just make sure you have any pitch modulation effects like chorus or vibrato turned off if you’re planning on using the tuner.
Oh. No it doesn’t come with a power adapter. It’ll use the same 9v center tip negative supply as any other pedal though if you have one. If not, this one is good and is only $9: amzn.to/3FSRk7G
