This is going to be good Jamie, I built it in 1973 at the age of 9 at my kitchen table with a paring knife and 1 color dark green from Pactra, took me the better part of an afternoon, as a Canadian the DHC Beaver, Otter, TwinOtter and the Noorduyn Norseman are in my humble opinion the epitome of Canadian aviation and why people can live and work in Canada's north, you can still see them, particularly in Vancouver they are mostly turboprop but you can still see the odd radial, such a great sound, particularly taking off.
Looking forward to this one. As you prefer to paint and weather rather than build it will be interesting to see your approach. I did find it amusing when you said that you like an easy life but have a passion for full scribing and riveting while I throw my hands up in horror at the very thought. Good luck with this one.
I'm working on something similar with the Airfix Hudson I kit in 1/72 scale. It's an original molding so no issues with crappy plastic or warped parts. In fact everything fits together quite nicely. I am after the same end result as you although I will be doing some interior scratchbuilding and I'll be spraying my markings. I also purchased two radials as the kit cowlings are not that great (they have the radials molded in). My plan is to vac form new cowlings so that they fit over the radials. Other than that, it's a bunch of sanding and re-riveting. I rather enjoy this type of modeling occasionally and I look forward to seeing the end result. It will be nice to see how yours is coming along as I know your modeling skills are top notch. Thanks for sharing this build.
Hi Jamie. Good luck with the new project and what a great aircraft to build. It will be interesting to see hoe you deal with the clear parts. A good skill building lesson to motivate other builders.Looking forward to the painting and weathering section.
If you're going to do the one on the box, it should have a crash position indicator on the top, (basically a white box on the top which flew off when crashing, circled the site and continued sending the position for about a day.)
Really looking forward to see this project.
Won't be long mate!
Looking forward to this build good luck Jamie.
Thanks Les

..settle down!
Not long to wait!
It’s about time I build an Airfix Vintage Classic kit also.
They are fun
A useful video as I guess most of us modellers have got a vintage beaver at home......
Thanks mate, I'm sure that's true

This will be a South Vietnam aeroplane
Can’t beat a wrap around beaver

Yes, the British Army had the Wasp junior engine.
👍
Why not Vac-form the clear parts and make resin pattern parts?
Beyond my experience mate!
