It's always nice to see one of these. When i was a teen, I flew on one in Alaska. My teacher was a busy pilot. He had this and a piper cub which he would take me up and let me take control. I'd last a minute. Lol. We'd do a lot of "ground attack" flying. So much fun. He was an Avenger pilot and scored a hit on the Musashi. He had a big picture of his squadron and every crewman signed it. He also got forced back in during the Korean war and flew a skyraider for 1 deployment. Learned a ton from him. Great job on this kit. I hope one day we get one in 48th or 32nd. It deserves more recognition.
Thoroughly enjoyed your videos on this build, Jamie! Wonderful result for sure. I have an old Airfix J2F-6 Duck I want to pull out of the stash pile and commence to building using your insightful techniques!
Brilliant tutorial on the camo Jamie and a lovely build....makes me want to dig out my Tamiya Skyraider and attempt the SEAC camo freehand, always shied away and used whitetack worms before.
Nice job as usual. I threw mine together today. Yes it was a fun build as you say. I couldnt beleive how it just fell together, and for its age its astonishing. Im hoping the Lysander or scouts next. Although i would love a retool so it could also be builg as a Wasp
Which shade of green did you use as I've been given many different shades? The instructions say Humbrol 119 but going to my local shop I was told Humbrol don't make it any more . It's not in their catalogue. Surely as Airfix and Humbrol are both owned by Hornby the relevant management should cooperate
Hello Jamie - newbie airbrusher here. When holding the model to do the camouflage, you are holding painted areas with bare hands. How long do you have to wait before the paint is safe to handle? Also, I've never used my airbrush so close to the surface because I finish up flooding the surface; what pressure were you using? Thanks.
It's MRP so dries really quickly. I have no idea what the pressure is as I have a MAC valve which adjusts the pressure on the airbrush. My advice is turn the pressure down as low as it will go whilst still giving a good spray pattern.
@@thescalemodellingcafe Thanks. I tried spraying some last night but I was way too cautious with the thinner. Was getting better at 50:50, but I think I still need more thinner. I’ll try 60% next.

Cool mate!
Brilliant. I don’t think anyone looking at it on display will see the wonky bits. It is such a cute aircraft, especially with those aerials and bumps.
As long as they don't look too closely!

Thanks, Jamie, I did enjoy it! 👏🏻👏🏻Very good.
Thanks mate
Jamie wonderful build and painting/weathering etc , remember building this back in 1972 , have just built another one aug this
Thanks mate
Lovely little gem.😊
Thanks mate
Bloody marvellous mate. I enjoy these legacy builds. I’d love to see you build a weathered AC 47 gunship from Airfix
Think I'd have to cross kit that with the new tooling mate!

Thanks mate, that sounds like a great project

Give it a go mate, and if you're not happy go back to the worms. It's just practice.

They'd be awesome!
Lovley jubbly ❤
Thanks Duncan
Hey Jamie great build - love your free hand camo- I’m still working that 😂cheers Liam
Practice mate, that's all it is. Oh, and ditch that Humbrol stuff and get some decent acrylics!
@@thescalemodellingcafe I use Tamiya any other suggestions please?
Beautiful model and great paint job! However all that was wasted by not detailing the propeller hub.
Er......

This is the US SEA camouflage so FS34079 MRP-101. If you use Humbrol paints still then they will do a UK Dark Green.

Jamie, when you spray the Mr Surfacer primer, you mentioned that you thin it even further, do you have a rough ratio you use?
I start with about 60% thinner and just experiment until I get the correct consistency.
