The Scale Modelling Cafe with Jamie Haggo
Великобритания
Добавлен 18 фев 2022
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to check out my channel. I have been making scale model for many years and have enjoyed watching RUclips modelling content for a long time so I thought it may be fun to join in and create my own channel!
I prefer aeroplanes however I have done some military vehicles in the past and my aim is to do again here from time to time, maybe the odd ship too. However the focus will be on aeroplanes. What I enjoy most is weathering and therefore I choose subjects that allow me to indulge my passion. I do have a few favourites though, Cold War Soviet jets, WW2 fighters, derelict and abandoned subjects and even some Post Apocalyptic machines from my imagination.
Thank you again for the interest. It's a cliche but please Like and Subscribe and of course, don't forget to hit that notification bell to be notified when the new videos come out.

Welcome to the intro video for the new project. This time something a little different, taking the SBS Ha 1112 K.1L Tripala conversion for the Tamiya kit and seeing if I can shoe horn it into the Eduard kit. Plot spoiler, as it's not designed for this kit, it wasn't exactly straight forward!

Sprue tour: Airfix P-51D Mustang 1:72 Starter set
Просмотров 97421 день назад
Welcome to the channel and another sprue tour, and something a little bit different for me. This is a starter set from Airfix, designed for the junior or new modeller, I thought it will make a nice comparison against the upcoming Eduard and Arma kits, clearly this isn't designed to go head to head but I thought it would be interesting to see how nice it is.

Tamiya F-14A Tomcat 1:48: Part 4, how to paint and weather a modern US Navy jet
Looks awesome as usual Jaime 💯👍
Nice work. I really like the color in this case.
That color really does suit this aircraft. The nose almost looks like a Macchi. Liked the weathering on it and pleased you showed how you did it. As for the paint lifting with mask removal, perhaps wait longer between colors to let it bond better before putting the mask on?
I like your thoughts on post shading but it takes a lot of practice with your airbrush which is not easy for beginners. Wouldn't oils work as well and are easily fixed if you screw it up.
Superb result Jamie - not too over weathered😊 - great to see the silhouette earning its keep - what was the transparent product? Also you seem to apply very few coats of “main” paint - how many usually?
Mildly moist is the correct term 😂👌
Just wondering, how do you know which fonts to use for the registration numbers or other text?
You are good man… se need some more 😅 thanks
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Great work and a great save and repair job on the rounded.
Amazing work there Jamie
I do much prefer the nose on this - and thus the whole AC appearance - of this over the Buchon. I also like the barrack grey colour. Loved this build!
Amazing results, Jamie! Thanks for making this series of videos on the HA-112 K-1L conversion.
Excellent job with the weathering!!
Great job Jamie.
Jamie,You call that cool music? Really? we all know cool music well all music ended in about 1995. 🤣 But seriously what a very cool looking aircraft IMHO much better than the Buchon. looking forward to the next one.👍
Started the arma Airacobra. it is worth the wait.
Great save, Jamie
Thanks Steve
Quite fancy building an R8 variant of the Border FW-190 A8 kit, Jamie. 😍
You and me both mate
@@thescalemodellingcafe 🤗
Vc all day every day and twice over!!!!!!! As for scales 1/35 over 1/32, but you're all wrong!! 1/40 is the way to go....Now all I have to do is convince the manufactures that 1/40 would be the best and only scale!
Me too Dave!
I wish it was the Kotare mkV spitfire you were doing as I’m waiting for that coming out in September but I will have a sneaky bid on your one mate.
I'll see when the Vb or c comes out
Built the Airfix Beaver when I was a kid -1973 or so !! Your build was amazing !! Looking forward to the DW kit . Clearprop Comet on way from Ukraine !! lovely jewel of a kit - contrast the Mikro Mir 1/48 offering !!
Lovely!
Hello Mr Haggo .If you really want a Kotare spitfire Jadlam have a clearance of the early version -lots of exrta bits -at £74.99 including P&P. Looking forward to the LFD Spit xiv conversion -tips to build mine from a superb modeller !
I've got the donated early Mk. Ia mate, think I'll wait for the Vb to buy one
I can't understand why some moan about having the option of some 35th scale AC either -the more choices, the merrier I'd have thought!
Me neither mate
Just donated £20 for Emily! Here's to them passing their target by miles! 🍻 Excellent video as always Jamie! I'm still waiting for you to put on the Team Lotus John Player Special tshirt! Get on it! 😉😆😂
Thank you ever so much mate, that's very kind of you
Great work on the Harrier. I/35 aircraft does make more sense than 1/32 due to ground vehicle availability. There have been so many 1/35 vehicles that have come out and so wished I could do an aircraft with it.
I agree mate
Hey Jamie, great up date. I would be delighted to buy one of your existing models if that would help the girls, cheers Liam
Wow, thanks Liam. Anything specific in mind?
@@thescalemodellingcafe - I’ll leave it up to you buddy, whatever you’re happy to let go, I really don’t mind. If not, I’ll drop £50 for you to mention my channel on yours 🥳🤣, wherever suits best, cheers Liam
Really looking forward to the Kotare build - I have the Mid and Early ones and am just waiting to improve my skill level before tackling them.
They are very straight forward Phil
@@thescalemodellingcafe So I understand, but they just look so well modelled that I really want to do them justice. Like you, I'd love them to bring out a V b/c (and Vokes filter) - so I can do a Malta subject.
Nice Beaver😍 Sorry 😂
Here we go.......!
Wow, that’s a lot of intense work on the Sea Harrier. Brilliant
Intense sums it up mate!
Great video Jamie 😂
Thanks mate, this is one of my early ones so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Jamie - great wee video im building the hobby boss version atm, cheers Liam
I've done that in 1:48 and it's a nice kit
Only went on one, and for a dusty environment,it was almost immaculate 😉👍
Sweet!
Lovely kit! But as I have Italeri's 48th one, another in whatever scale is too many Chinooks for me.
That's quite a big model in 1:48!
Does look a lovely kit. It's strange about the missing mess on the cones, its almost like they just thought the aftermarket guys will do it much better, so why bother, which is a bit disappointing. Just a comment on the sound quality of your videos. When you are in the chair, the sound quality isn't great - the louder (?) parts of your speech are rather hash/start to break up, and it makes it a bit unpleasant to listen to. When you are at the bench, we dont get this and it much nicer to listen to. Hopefully you can make some tweeks to improve this.
I second the sound comment; it isn't terrible by any means, just something you notice.
I think the problem might be the microphone is too far away and so it struggles and starts to distort, I'm going to experiment with trying to find the ideal distance. Thanks for the feedback. As for the Chinook, I'm sure they're working on PE or 3D resin replacements as we speak...
I’ve just finished mine and absolutely loved it. The only real issue for me were the intake cones and lack of mesh representation. What makes it a real head scratcher is that on the pylon itself they’ve used both moulded and decal details to represent mesh, either would have been good for the intakes. I cut some masking tape templates to make some brass mesh to glue on but it was an unnecessary faff. Also agree that the IP decals are rancid 😂. That said there’s a lot of thought gone into this one with the modeller in mind and general fit is excellent - good job. One note on the original list, I believe the fuel points are moulded recessed so the decals should bed down into them.
I'm sure they're working on PE or 3D resin replacements as we speak...
Airfix kits have steadily improved over the last 10 years, but they seem to have made a big leap forward in the last 24 months.
Fact!
Very interesting project. Immaculate result post sanding.
Thanks mate
What clamps are you using in the video @ 3:20?
From Rebell hobby in Sweden. www.rebell.com/tools/clamps-for-modelling-x-3-see-important-info.html?___store=eu&___from_store=eu
Great job on a difficult conversion Jamie. The belt job you did looks well in the pit. Having used the HGW sets now myself, I just cannot not use them as most other options don't measure up if visible enough in the pit.
Thanks mate, those HGW sets are amazing
Drastic surgery on that - thing is you make it look so damn easy and now I think - I could NOT do that! I shall stick to my "fall together" Tamiya Kits and improving my skills
That's exactly what I'm going back to after this!
Love this build! However, I've noticed you haven't removed MG-151/20 motor-cannon shroud inside the cockpit. Do you have an info about Buchon to have any cannon between engine cylinder heads?
I left it in as it fills the space, and they may have kept it but I can't find any photos of the cockpit. You can't see it anyway.
@@thescalemodellingcafe got it, thanks!
55 / 5.000 The vinyl reinforcing strip is a great tip. Thanks.
I use vinyl regularly now.
Hi Jamie once again a very inspirational video from you , can I also complement you on a absolutely pin sharpe video quality , thank you for these amazing videos 🙏👍
Tanks mate, much obliged
That was epic! Really like how you showed the process from design to finale. Like others have said, truly impressed with the layers of color and vegetation you applied here. The end result is amazing and inspiring.
Thank mate, I really appreciate it.
Hi Jamie I've made a few of the Kinetic Harrier family...Rewarding in the end! 😅. I noticed from the photos of the intakes, specifically the 'doors', that they hinge from the front not the rear...😬
Just seen a previous comment also highlighting this...
Yep, I noticed that too! Fixed now.
Hi Jamie, great work on the harrier looking like you got the best of it. I was interested in when do you decide to add aftermarket I have a euro fighter and rafale I want to do but stuck on if to go down the aftermarket route and wonder what you consider when you choose to add an aftermarket cockpit etc
It's all about the detail, I'll look at the various sets online then see if it's worth it.
I have been struggling with a Hasegawa AV8B , I don’t remember their GR7 being this much of an enthusiasm drain . I have paused the project for a dual Eduard P51B build . I’m hoping the sight of the Spanish AV8B at RIAT will help elevate mine back into production. *In other news , the GWH A10C has landed in model shops in the U.K. at long last, let’s see if us Hog fans get a truly decent A10 model after all these years, apparently they have sorted the engine fans . If it’s any good I’ll pray for an earlier A10A release from GWH to use up the stash of European 1 Hog decals I have saved for a truly deserving kit !😂 Good luck wrangling the SHAR , loving the channel 👍🏻
Thanks mate. Enjoy the Mustangs, I hear they are lovely
Oh dear Jamie....does one have an exorcist waiting on call, just in case? 😉😆😂
It could do with it!
Now you are fighting the Kinetic SHar into shape, my money is on Airfix's surprise announcement being one! 😂
Let's hope so!
