Just getting into modelling at 46 (after being terrible at it in my teens) all thanks to yours & mann's channels! Will definitely bet getting this one. For £7 it's a no brainier plus easy painting & something different from war vehicles.
Thanks for the review MOS, I'm a fan of the VC's and picked up the Fokker DR1 and Bristol F2B Dogfight double recently. The Auster will be on the list too, cheers!
The circular things on the top wings are supposed to be the fuel filler caps, although they're a bit over scale. The actual ejector marks are all on the internal surfaces.
@@scaleffect I had to check for myself. I had an Airfix He 111 where the 'good" side of the mould had little circular bulges from where the ejector pins had overtravelled and hit the other side of the mould in storage.
Hi Mossi I was thinking about these classic re releases and thought Airfix have missed two things that would increase the nostalgia felt when building these vintage classics. If Airfix released these kits in their original sprue colour so the Auster Antarctic would be Yellow plastic and also utilise the original instruction sheets I think it would remind people more and bring more memories back What do you think mate
mine is finished too.. In bright yellow lol. Thank you @paulnicoll7431 for leaving a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't as yet.. It really helps the channel grow.
Interesting to note that when this was last released in 2004 it gave the option for both yellow and orange finishes, as it has been disputed which colour was correct for the 1956 expedition. That is not the case here for some reason. Also the decals look to be the same as on the 2004 release as well.
@@MOS6510Models I am under the impression that Orange is correct for 1956 (and as currently preserved) but yellow would look appropriate for the kit itself. I would probably buy 2 of them...
I made the AOP version in about 1980 and it was a nice kit. My only gripe with the vintage sets is that they should be in the original coloured plastic! Last week I went to Swanage (John’s Toyland - the only surviving toy shop from my youth!) and bought a Brisfit & Triplane dogfight double. The triplane was the first kit I ever made so thought I would try again. Shame it’s in grey plastic and not pinky red, though. 😊
Paging Dale about proof reading job 🤣🤣🤣 Oh and there was more than "one sheet" after the Barbeque chicken..... Hopefully you are recovered now Les Now I have seen it , I will put it on the next order
To Buy this kit On the Airfix website £6.99 prf.hn/l/3Yv3zXn

I defo wanna build it, would love to see a few more builds pop up on RUclips too.
Will be picking up two of these, for the floats and the skis
Yes Moss - Im about to jump into as a light build after 2 months on a king tiger, great video cheers Liam
I am so gonna buy this kit again..

Good stuff
I got that kit too gonna assemble it soon good stuff
Looks like a fun, old kit. The ejector pins on the wings will be annoying to sort. The 3 options of landing appendages is great.

@@Reactordrone how horrifically ignorant of me. There is not excuse, I should have investigated before typing such misinformation. I am ashamed.

Good review. I think the bent propellor is a common problem with this kit. The new canopy is a bonus. I'll be buying one of these.
yes put in the bag too quick before it cooled
Looks a nice build and one sheet does plenty
Just bought it!
First built in mid 60s with floats, this time I think I will do skis
I’m thinking ski’s too
Very nice kit review Mos!
Glad you enjoyed it
My WIP now is PZL P-50 "Hawk" made in 1970 in Poland, the batch was only 2000 units. Something from the past.....
I love these small and old kits
Hi Mossi
The Glass Sprue is identical to the old sprue but it has definately been re-tooled and really looks fabulous

What do you think mate
When these were released I ordered 3 from Hannants when they said they had 20+ in stock.
I got 1. And no refund
Just finished 2 of them in the colours of the first aircraft flown by FIGAS.
Alli need now is the Norseman
mine is finished too.. In bright yellow lol. Thank you @paulnicoll7431 for leaving a comment. Please subscribe if you haven't as yet.. It really helps the channel grow.
Lovely kit..
I think so too!
Hmm, as it has the wheeled option, will add one to the stash to do as a British Army version 🤔 Good vid, thanks for sharing.
Please feel free to use the link ;)

what would you do? orange or yellow matey?

Apparently orange for the Expedition. When returned to the RAF it was repainted yellow.
Very interesting Model. Hope i could find one. 😃
Pity it's not moulded in the original yellow. Nice to see it back in the range, though.
Great video mos
Appreciate it
Nice review les ,I have built this kit as it used to be years ago the new decals are a vast improvement 👍
It sure is
Should I paint the airfix first or wait until I have built it
This is Perfect for a Biggles Build...Let's hope Airfix follow Eduard and do a Biggles Boxing...The Auster is in so many Biggles stories....
Cool 👍
Pure nostalgia..... I remember building this kit back in 1982 (AOP version)! Thanks for making this vid Mos I love these old vintage classics. 👏
i do too
Think that's a resupply ship mate fpr the base in the picture. If i were to do this i wouldn't do it matt yellow I'd give it a coat of satin varnish.
I think the same..
I think it was the Krista Dan
Need a Biggles Build on this...The Auster was mentioned in so many Biggles books...Let's hope Airfix will follow Eduard and do a Biggles edition......
that is a great shout
yellow is incorrect for all over colour for antarctic austers they were bright orange
Great review as always but they did spell Expedition right. sorry.
But at least the aircraft can be fitted with skies.
no they didnt.. expidition?? look again :)
@@MOS6510Models Both spellings are correct, but it's still a good little kit have a great day my friend.👍

Second review I've seen of this, second bent prop.
put in the bag too quick before it cooled
@@MOS6510Models Plus it's unprotected by any other part of the sprue tree.
I would have prefered the AOP version,as a brush painter yellow is a hard colour to get right.

yeah lol... im a lot better thanks
Need to be a Biggles edition. Or a biggles diorama!! You know you want to mos 😏
