I wonder if Airfix would consider making this elegant looking aircraft in 1/48 scale.?.I would totally get one in 1/48 and would suit the modern Airfix.Great video Gary and all the best.!👍
Hi Gary, tne Bezgle looks as if it will be a verh straight forward build, well here's hoping, I rdmember wzy back in the 1960's when my interedt in kits started you could go down to the local cycle shop and buy a kit, look forward to the next update, best regards and happy modelling from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Nice review Gary, thanks. These Vintage Classics are getting to be a bit addictive. I bought the SM79 after your build and now I’m feeling a Beagle Basset coming on!
Another great video Gary that Beagle 206 is going to be something special mate with them marking and colour scheme and this time no bent porpeller this time 👍
That’s one groovy tune someone liked UFO I was expecting you wearing a blond Ed straker syrup 😂,the models from 1968 well a fine year my friend that’s when I was released just ask my poor mum 😮 All the best Mark 😊😊
Gosh, you've hit the nostalgia quotient squarely with this one, Gary. I think it was one of the first Series 2 kits I ever made. The subject had two engines and came in a box. Really thought I was going up in the world.😂 The hexagonal cross-section parts runners are pure Airfix of old and I think the use of exploded assembly diagrams is perhaps intentional, leading builders of a certain vintage into recalling more halcyon times? Very pleased to see they've updated the transparencies as well as the decals. Looking forward to the history and build. :)
Yes, they have kept the original diagrams in part but have re-set the type in the numbers and of course the rest of the sheet to give it the modern Airfix look. But they have made some mistakes as I'll mention in the build video (just decalling her right now...)
Such a beautiful aircraft, this is my next to do (it might change!) and I hope to really go to town on it up detailing it. We’ll see though! 😁 Looking forward to all your videos on the Beagle. All the best, Ian
Gary , try the Tamiya etch saw blade's for the small parts. I built a mirage hobby flower class Corvette and every reviewer said they had trouble getting the parts off the sprues. I only broke one part using the miniature saws.
Anyone have a crushed velvet jacket i could borrow? Feel like I should be sitting in a sixtys airport or Vegas strip lounge watching this groovy video. Interesting style of gates and connectors instead of full on trees. Moulds certainly cleaned up well. Think I'll add it to my seeit-grab it list. Good price for getting to those free shipping limits etc. Looks like a fun quick build. ☕🐢
Hi Gary. I finally built this Beagle. Lovely looking plane, but I did find the build quiet hard, maybe these old classics should be skill level 2. Just wondering , when you paint your models do you, or do you recommend priming the entire body first in humbrol No1 grey primer before painting, or just apply the main colour straight to the plastic? Thanks .
Are you or have you had any 'Garys Stuff' stickers made at all? I appear to be getting a collection of model related stickers on the various boxes i use & was wondering if you'd had any done?
You can get them through my merchandise store (link in the info box below) but you might want to hang on because I'll be doing something different with merch soon and it'll be easier to get hold of...
The grey plastic's moulds get a clean up before they start casting them. As Gary mentioned in the video, they made new moulds for the clear parts because they were damaged/lost over the years.
Well, for a start, Airfix have done the right thing with the Vintage Classics branding to manage expectations, but people might still get this and think they are getting a kit that is better than those they may remember from their youth. Or they may never have built a kit of this age and I just point out to them what they can expect. I have built it pretty much out of the box - as you'll see in the build video later this week. But I won't apologise for pointing out potential pitfalls so others might avoid them (like parts being difficult to remove from the frame). BTW, Airfix clearly think the occasional ribbon and bow is needed because they research, design and have printed new decal sheets which, for some kits, cost more than the rest put together (plastic, new instructions and new box). And there isn't a new tooling of the Basset from anyone.
It's called a classic for a reason. If you don't like kits with raised panel lines of rivets, don't buy it. I just font see the point in buying this kit, standing the lines flat and re scribing it.
@@roncrowder4320 Perhaps just for the enjoyment of it Ron or the sense of achievement? I think we all understand what we're going to get with a Classic kit - I don't think it's a case of not liking it.
Added to which, there isn't another Beagle 206 kit available! So if you like to do rivets and panel lines recessed, you can sand them off and rescribe them if you want to. If you don't care about that and just want a kit of a Basset (with snazzy new decals) then that's fine too. The biggest problem with this kit isn't the plastic, it's the instruction leaflet...
My dog is a Basset & Beagle mix - I call him a Bagel

Great looking kit of a very beautiful aircraft. That kit was released when I was 17!
I was 20! Scary stuff! 👍

Cheers Les! Straightforward, well kind of... looks a beauty though.
Great video as always. Love the vintage classic range. Just completed the Beaver which went together really well!

You'r luck to have got the SM.79, they are out of stock now!
It must be because I used the Gary’s Stuff link. It works wonders you know!
Another one I remember doing back in the 70's. I feel a nostalgia build coming on! Take care Gary and happy modeling.
Looking forward to this Gary thanks for the unboxing marra . Regards Gav.
Thanks marra!

Nice references to our peer group mate!

Hi Gary, built the Basset first time around, a very smart little aircraft.
It's a beauty, isn't it? Lovely lines and elegant, glider-like wings.
Such a beautiful aircraft, this is my next to do (it might change!) and I hope to really go to town on it up detailing it. We’ll see though! 😁

I will look out for them, thanks John!
They are great if you can get hold of some. 👍

With acrylics (water based) paints I always prime the plastic first. Generally with grey primer but sometimes with white.

Hello gary!i like your channel and i have allways got a thumb up for you.why are you not building tanks???with sticky greetings. Christian
I will be doing some armour later in the year - mainly clearing through my huge pile of aircraft first! Thinking possibly of the new Takom Hetzer...
Well, there is plenty of time for.
Is this a re mould or the original sprues?
Clear parts are remould

Two Beagles escaped from lab. After a day on the run, one turns to the other and says, "I'm dying for a fag".
Probably shouldn’t laugh but…….
Hahahahaha! I remember this going back the 80’s😂😂😂😂😂
Wasn’t there a Spitting Image sketch with this?
@@bugler75 yeah something like that. Whenever I see a beagle I can only think of that punchline. All these years later...
@@typhoon2827 to be fair, I’m laughing again right now 😂
Why not just appreciate the kit as a 1968 model kit, and build out of the box. If you want a kit with ribbons and bows, look for a new tooling.
Why not just stop watching kit reviews if you don’t want to hear a kit review?
