Bruce bugbee taught me so much for my grow this summer. I’m a science freak!! PLEASE he would be an incredible guest for your show.
That would be dope if you did content to show us what you learned from him that would be cool af
I use 5 gallon fabric pots in a tent and I water a half gallon at a time with minimal to zero run off but I'm using soil so .....
Professional overwater here of 15 years! You can always spray more water on… (although that exactly is what gets me in trouble)
Awesome show guys! Thanks! I water every morning 2L regardless, grow in Coco n Perlite 3g pots, I water t run off cuz Coco classed as Dwc, dwc roots don't get root rot due to air exchange therefore watering in Coco everyday to runoff gives the plant the fresh oxygen n nutes an I don't get pests or deficiencies BUT I only grow 1 plant at a time under mars hydro ts 1000 in 2.5x2.5. avg 3oz per auto (FastBuds) ✌️❤️
Sharing an Ol'Head trick here for all you youngsters! Increased the speed and size of your grow by watering your plants with Mineral Water. that will bring CO2 straight to the roots
you'll see a big difference. The girls LOVE it! Y'all welcome and Happy Growing.
I do 5 gallon pots with soil, when I water I’ll usually throw two liters in the top and one liter in the tray to bottom feed, I do that every other day, I also try to always make sure I water within the first two hours of the lights coming on. btw those cheap green moisture meters do actually work good for a long ass time if you take care of them ie clean the probe when you’re done with it, I’ve had mine for 5 years now and it works the same as the day I got it.
They do, just wipe off. Everytime my mini kale and other stuff used for a living mulch wimp, both says tonwater.
I find it very easy to monitor my water needs!!
I use a water meter with one long prong, and I will insert it into the side of my fabric pots, top bottom, side corner, anywhere on the pot. I plug the holes up with a small piece of chop sticks stick. I cannot pick them up to check, this works much better for me.
Totally agree with pick up the pot. I'm tuned in with my soil enough to the point I can tell by looking.
It's so hard to explain how to water. It's something I've done since I was a little kid, watered my mom's perennials (we sold 1gals), my memaws garden etc... I water all be feel, I just know...
I have definitely weighed my plants. In fact, I did a post about it with a postal scale that I had found for free, of course. It was very useful for learning to get the feel.
For outdoor plants.
Once in the morning.
Check plants for droop.
Will probably water 3-4 on 100*F days.
If you are going to water by hand you should water about 30 minutes before you turn on the lights in the morning. A simple routine is to keep the exhaust fan on a separate timer, set it to go on 30 minutes before the lights so then you know when to irrigate.
10min left, perfect. Blunt cone time 🌌Cheers folks, bless.
My years of DWC growing led me down the road of when it comes to soil, light regular waterings is BEST, but not always practical for everyone.
Most problems from soil growth come from overwatering as the plant just cant breath, thats why alot of people when they switch from soil to DWC comment on the growth, as they are no longer dowining their plants and they get a chance to really go for it.
Its as portant to let your medium dry out as it is to water them, if you dont, the plants will be stunted because of it. Might even look healthy, but its nt what it could have been.
I love DGC. Huge bigups to the dude, scotty and grambo. Love you guys
Appreciate you Ace 🤘😁👍
I learned so much from his videos. He researching everything to see what’s what, like the fact that 1-2 days of darkness does nothing or how flushing should be unnecessary if you have the nutrients dialed in correctly. If u overdo it u waste $ on mutes u lose and flushing causes unnecessary stress.
Hey thank you guys so much for all the information you have given all of us ! LEGENDS !
in the shire were full of it ever tried the halflings leaf :)
I hand water. Wish I had auto irrigation system. I just uppoted my sprouts and I add growdots and recharge for the 1st time. Excited to see how it all grows out. Thx
Bottom watering or butt chugging does wonders if you have fab pots feed on top if organic medium
Bottom watering or butt chugging is wild af
Get a set of slimline electric weighing scales that people weigh them selfs on and weigh your pots dry and again after watering them until you get run
off.
A better measurement and slim enough for scrogers to make use of too.😊
I use a meter with tape put on 4 inches up for deper roots. I also use living mulch, when the mini kale wimps and the meter says to water, i water.
i had 24 litre sacks 5.3 gallons for most of the flowering i gave them 7 litres 1.5 gallons ever other day, monday, wednesday and so on,they needed that, they were so dry when come to feed again 👍🏻
the amount of water hugely depends on the size of its bed i like earthbox and city pickers raised beds for my tents
I also cannot lift a pot with a mesh net. I find unless they are small, once I start training, lifting is not an option.
Great show guys i just tried something different and went from coco back to soil mix and my worst plants in years going back to a coco mix
I grow in Cocoa I water and feed everyday if I could I do twice a day I grow in 2 gallon pots start off cups then one gallon then I transfer into two everyday I water and feed never had a problem used to grow organic I do bottles now My plants are three times bigger my yields three times bigger my stems are three times bigger when I water and feed everyday twice a day Big difference
Scotty's right, coco every 3 days 1 gal of water. Flowering im every other day...specially if you have fans blowing and more particular in a smaller tent 4x4 and smaller.
Scotty I’ve had good luck with the wicking pots. You mentioned all the things that you need to do to make them work at different points in the show. You kinda need to steer the roots down at first but once they reach the bottom you’re good to go. You need to rock the humidity and heat and have plenty of light but the real trick is getting air to the roots. So I picked up a 13$ suction pump and drained it every night and agitated the water/nutes when I watered. Almost only from the bottom. When the roots start pulling they pull it right to the top. You need to get the root structure down there at first though.
That should say oxygen not air
Sooo once you have agreed you overwatered and leaves are yellowing 3 weeks into flower. Do dry backs help? And if so how long? Did a dry for a week and pots still heavy. Feel I’m hurting the over all growth of the trichromes. Suggestions?
In organics I water about 5% water volume, usually eod-e3d depending on growth stage, with salts I water to runnoff, don’t go for an exact amount of runoff just as long as I’ve got some, occasionally I’ll have reason to flush straight water
I use the AC INFINITY XL Self watering bases!
I top water the nutrients in so the bases stay clean.
I believe that the Cree (from Dr Cree, long ago) spectrum map shows what light plants absorb.
Shane, of MIGRO, has a meter that tests for, and shows what the UVA/UVB output, along with Far Reds and Infa Reds, that do put out usable photons for the plant. Pretty sure..?! Not very efficient, but I believe these photons are usable..?!
Maybe Shane will give a visit, and clear any of this up..?! Great guy! I've watched him for several years now.
Thanks for the great show DGC! Just missed the live show, but you'll always have my support. It's a great community here!👍💯🙏✌️
Hey Brother thank you for the awesome and informative comment. We've been trying to get Shane on the show. He's a pretty cool guy and would love to have him in the DGC with us.
i think dude and scotty you guys need to go on some adventures together and post the video sounds cool to me
I’m running four Black Soap photos in 3 gals in a 5x5 they are fifty days in veg and gulping down the water. When I pick up the pots they feel dry after only about thirty hours. Using liquid nutes. Temp at 82 RH 62 thanks for the info
You should up pot to 5 gal min. I would go 7 or 10 personally.
I use 7 gallon plastic pots. I haven't tried fabric pots. I use oscillating fans, a dehumidifier, and an A/C to keep my plants happy. If growing photoperiod plants, flip the switch to 12/12 when the plants are halfway as big as the can get because many double in size during flower, and you don't want your plants growing into the lights.
Can you use grow dots with happy frog and ocean forest??? I haven't grown in 3yrs would like some input as I plan to outdoor grow this yr auto for first time for outdoor thanks .
Great video fellas!! Thanks again
Depends on plant size but 1 gallon of water in a 5 gallon is perfect for Organic half way through flower for 3-4 days.. With Synthetic in a soilless mix you would want more to get it dripping out the pot to avoid salt build up while using a constant liquid feed.
I've always been a evening waterer, it stays in the soil longer and goes deeper without burning off from the sun. For outside.
Thx much guys...☮
Great show as always fellas looking forward to another DGC cup
I use a postal scale to weigh my pots and base my watering on weight, not guess work. I've been doing this for 5 years with great success. I use the same size and type pot (5 gallon plastic) for each plant and don't trellis because I keep the plants mobile in my rooms. My 5 gallon plastic pots with a 70/30 coco perlite mix weigh about 4000 grams when dry to the point of needing water. I will water until they hit 5500 grams. At 6200 grams they start to runoff. It's not a difficult as it sounds.
Oh that's a fun little experiment. I'll give it a try. Weigh it out dry, water to saturation. Thanks my man.
Wow! Blown away that you would mention my post from the DGC forum. We're doing much better. Now watering about 3/4 gallon every other day or until the weight tells us they're thirsty. Much improved! Should we forego the worm castings on the next grow?
Thanks for contributing!! 💯🤘😁👍
Mixing per gallon and using clear ketchup bottles. Which I get 6 per gallon. And I feed my plants 3 times a day. Babies babies won't take a whole gallon a day.
6 tp 8 weeks weeks. Tip for everyone grower's choice. Tangerine Dream auto flowers. 😎 During their stretch, I could push a gallon 20 hours on 4 hours off. 5 gallon fabric pots with happy frog. And I would put cardboard under and it was very rare. I would have run off fox farmtrio along with Cow mag plus Daytime temperatures 80 to 82
Is it OK to use the water from your tents dehumidifier to feed your plants?
With organic living soil growing I like to keep it at 10% water to soil volume when I water. Gets you in the ballpark and they'll be healthy for sure. Scotty, the new real buckets are awful tipsy topsy, really need that larger diameter for the base for how tall they are 🧐. Keep up the great work 😎🤙 much love from Pennsylvania 🥳🇺🇲
During veg how often do you water? I water every 2nd day. Im growing in a 30l fabric pot
Use a chapin sprayer the big red ones for indoor plants
How do you get nutrition like egg shells and shrimp shells to a hydrophilic state where plants can absorb through drenching or foliage feeding.
You were 26 in 1999?😮 Didn't think I was 8 years older than you.😅 You guys remind me of a group of us,that use to talk " all grow topics 30 years ago. Deja vu I see your guys videos. Keep it up.
Earth Box works so well for me 🙌
i use ocean forest with 5gallon fabric pots in flower i use one gallon every 2 to 3 days
I just finished up Bahama runtz tyrains kush color of space
Aloha from Australia DGC
Do you want to hit plants with far red lights more towards ir and dark blue more towards uv at the end of day or mid day like sun produces? When they would be dehydrated more to trigger more resin production? Or should it be a morning thing to get them working faster?
I just finished my 1st run. During veg I had hydrophobic soil due to under watering.
I weighed the pot. Then I dunked the whole pot in water for 5 seconds and drained. Then weighed pot again.
Now I know how much water I could add.
I regularly blend up some aloe to water in. The vegetation contains saponin which is a wetting agent and it also has all kinds of other good stuff your plants will use. 1/4-1/2 cup aloe to 1 gal water
I am running HP pro with grow dots extended at the moment and I found 1 full gallon each works good. Zero runoff. Unless I am missing something?
I leave my moisture meter inside the pot. Only got 3 currently but I put them in a random pot at the same stage of growth. So when it says dry I just water them all the same.
Moisture meters should never be left in soil when they are not in use as this will degrade the sensitive probe
@johnnyb4869 we always left them in at the facility I worked at never had a problem
The thing about keeping dry and rinsing depends on the variety, whether you benefit from it, because what use is it to have slightly higher terpenes if you have 30% less yield, you have to understand that the hydroponic system doesn't have to do with dryness at all work, and despite producing the most potent cannabois, how is it supposed to be different on earth? In order to rule out errors, you can do the following experiment, you plan to plant a small pot in a large one, 1 to 3, and whoever does the rinsing It was also important that you pull the small pot out of the big one in the last 2 weeks, so that there is enough root mass left so that the plant doesn't die, and the rinsing can begin without the plant drowning, at the same time, you can do it better Try to control wilting and drying better by watering a little, as you mentioned, large pots in organic cultivation hardly allow rinsing, otherwise they will drown, as this plant is no better than the others that were not rinsed and left dry If there are, then that doesn't help, it's best to use a comparison for at least two varieties, e.g. b1afgani, which are used to being dry in nature, plus a breeding variety as a comparison, of course everything twice to eliminate any errors.
Those bone conductor headphones really are awesome.
Lol great Hank impression Grambo! Highest5 🖐️
lol Thnx WBG 🤘😁👍 -Grambo
Speaking about drying your recent harvest...what do you think about CANNATROL?
I use 5 litre pots in the uk , keeps em short and stocky
If you live in a dry climate. Many times infor come from California and Colorado. Super dry climates feeding and watering is different.
The love of watering and its problems with the different soil media, if you haven't noted something down, such mistakes happen again and again,1 not only with beginners, but also with professionals, not only the medium is important, but also the type and uniformity of repotting, some leave it loose, the other presses the soil so that the soil is heavier, if there is still sand in the medium it is even heavier 1 ensures uniformity in the medium 2 then weighing is good Especially for growing smaller Plant. A prewertres moisture meter when repotting in large pots is a good thing. To reduce the inaccuracy of the measuring system, insert the measuring device with the measuring tip into a Jiffi pot, and start with the soil when repotting. The Jiffy Pot ensures a better surface adaptation of the moisture, and prevents measuring errors caused by pearlite voids in the soil medium.
Can’t wait for the show
I heared about a study, cuting water(drying periods) in late Bloom will couz positive stress in term of terps & THC ....
Any thoughts ???
Have always done this notice those differences big time change
jeremy silva has the water math "his dragon style garden kung fu is strong"
Definitely will keep supporting you guys! Just really bad at computers & havent been able to join any of the benefits but that’s ok. First time I tried to post a pic to IG, it went to all my accounts & the sheriff saw it. SMFH. So I’m going to back off until I can not screw myself.
Great show guys
I always water my plants 10% of my soil volume. Mine are 15 gallons so 1.2-1.5 gallon of water every 3 days using living soil.
And I always water 1/4 of the pot size, since I'm using 10 gal fabric pots, that's roughly 2.5 gal
Every five days or so
5% run off
Peat and perlite
Organic ferts, beneficial bacteria and microbes, biostimulants, mycorrhizal and Trichoderma
Fckn trees growing
.
.
It's about the conditions of the grow room (temp/hum), media and size of the container, there's no one rule really.
cool funny show in which we can learn a lot
My resolution is to start work in my compost pile earlier. And I have so far succeeded.
im new, love the hang!
Uv is actually an important part of plant development Bruce can tell us all about it!! He had a video just about it
How dry should your medium be before harvest day?
Water before harvest for a slower dry
How does RUclips restrict you guys so much for showing plants but you got Jeremy from build a soil showing off a 10x10 tent full of plants from seed to harvest?? Haha crazy
He struggles with it but in different ways. There appears to be different rules for different channels 🤷
@DudeGrows thats complete bs. I can't believe the amount of restrictions with everything lately smgdh
My biggest problem with watering was my square fabric pots were flat against my overflow pan and had no airflow underneath causing the water to just sit in the lower 3rd of the pot. Put pvc pipes underneath and haven’t had a problem since.
Great show guys! If you smoke on camera or vape that is going to get you age restricted just as much as showing plants imo.
I want to get my yields up this year so I stop running out of smoke and better identify deficiencies and mis diagnosing and limit all my homework to reputable sources like the dgc cuz there alot of bro science out there happy 2024 oh and make it to the cup this year
Never worry about time of watering, amount of water or over/under watering when doing hydro.
I have a plant in a 5 gallon that takes a gallon of water every day right now and have barely any runoff.
That's because it's, ONLY a gallon of water in 5 gallons of medium.
@@yknowiknow5937you must not have watched or listened. Sorry you cannot comprehend.
@@rich714 You must be a Marxist Democrat. I stated, EXACTLY what YOU COMMENTED.🤣😂
@@rich714 yeah, okay, considering, I STATED, EXACTLY WHAT YOU REPLIED. 🤔🤨😒🤣
When is the conversation going to turn to watering serecert
It's funny after my first I been thinking of getting a press for tge next one
Coco you need to leach with calcium before use. A lot of growers don't, then they will get problems with certain nutrient uptakes later.
Bugbee is legit.
Dr. Prof Bugby is great. Definitely requires some research to understand everything he’s saying at times, but he’s big on the research!
Legends
commenting for the algorithm. stay up guys.
😂 30:34 😅missouri has lots of ppl going through prison ptsd😅
10 bucks for the moisture meter is fine in my eyes for beginners to learn how much an often they water
Control with perpetual is imperative. Bison that sheet Scotty! Big UP to the Dudes(that includes you GramBro! ;P) Peace
Hypochlorous. For the WIN
Thnx buddy 🤘😁👍 -Grambo
Temus basically alibaba more geared towards consumers instead of retailers/brands. Bottom bin products that don’t meet brands quality standards mostly.
Yea washing and freeze drying is a pain in the ass, but dry sifting isn’t it. Just freeze your trim and lowers and get some dry sift screens and you will have hash the same day. Then press that and you won’t be disappointed with the results. Its the easiest way for the homegrower to get some high quality extracts
I do both and I think washing is way easier
Damn! I wish those guys would have a sale from time to time huh!?
Weed has evolved thru millennia going through dry periods and probably wet periods depending on strains/locations. Obviously potted plants have a much smaller window of too much or too little, but if you aren’t salting up the media just watch your plants and use common sense. Often, certain strains will suddenly quit quaffing water…tune into their needs and throw strict schedules and amounts out the window.
5 gallon pot needs 2 gallons
Not with living soil. The microbes retain moisture and the pots stay heavier. Less water is needed. I use the pick up the pot method of watering. Molasses, liquid seaweed, works great!
i bought a digital fish scale to weigh my next dry before and after in plant form muhamuhahmuhahah got the idea from build a soil video question
Key is to water slowly. Water should trickle and not be poured. I try to mimic rain not a flood 😂
Bro. water till run off absolutely .You think you are wasting feed but just you wait boys.... I just flip when they are drinking X amount . this was with a drip top feed system so very slow to feed . Top feed cocoa- slowley does it. hard stake early and trellis after that. Stable strong support = win
I water with a solo cup, 1 cup of water per gallon of soil, never had an issue
seasons, depends.
