So glad that wasn't a serious fall, held my breath and looked to the left immediately. This is such a fun collab. Knee Deep is one of my favorite breweries, great beer selection and atmosphere. You are getting the royal treatment seeing NoCa and have to be totally stoked!
Honestly one of my favorite videos you've done. Something about that trail, you and Brian riding so cohesively (for the most part). Extremely engrossing! Loved it.
You test his jump abilities . He tests your endurance When you ride behind someone for awhile you get there “ swagger “ and lines . Comes with the territory
Once you make the first scratch, there is no need to worry about scratching it anymore haha. My bike is all scratches, I'm not sure there is any paint left.
Man that fall was gnarly! Glad it wasn't a sheer face. Your laughter on the rides are infectious! My 13 year old godson thinks you guys are too cool! Yep he's a aspiring mtb rider...
i still ride clipless, but I am so questioning that decision. So far, I've been able to jump out, but hitting the ejector seat over the bars looks so much easier with platforms...
@@darryloliver661 Depends on what you are doing, coming from a street & dh background, I prefer flats. I also did XC back in the day clipless and it was good for what I was doing. By making it very simple, if I were to go ride and chill, having fun, jumping around and not givings fucks about what I do, I would ride flats. If performance, grip in climbing, handling in general is your thing, stay clipless, hope it helps a bit
I’ve started with clipless but changed to platform pedals recently. I like it a lot better because it feels safer and I feel like I can do so much more and do more dangerous or bigger jumps. I would recommend platforms based on the confidence they give you alone!
@@lucasblair3601 I saw a video a long time ago and now realize the rider toppled over a cliff because his foot appeared stuck to the cliffside pedal. He was probably riding clipless.
Sweet trail and great video Alex. That crash looked like it was going to be much much worse than it turn out to be Thank God. You guys have traveling Angels with you out on the road for these adventures. Keep it up dudes
i find it hard watching clipless riders in scary situations without thinking probably would be a lot safer with flats! he would have just jumped off on the top of the rock instead of falling down a cliff!
Its a tradeoff. But for going fast, rock gardens and long ridrd there is nothing like being clipped in. But jumping is flats all the way. Like seth said none are better than the other, both should be weapons in your arsenal.
@@lg784359 What is the tradeoff? Gaining a second in a 1km descend? You won't even notice it in the video. It is in situations like this that show how important is not to be attached to the bike. This could have easily turned out really bad.
@@1Enas1 It had nothing to do with his shoes. He unclipped with one foot. You are advocating for him to have ditched the bike and jumped off, which means potentially losing it down the cliff. How he rode it out, is how most people would. It happened fast, the bike starting sliding, he put a foot and a hand down.
for me the worst is when they are deciding last minute to not do a feature and they are scrabbling to get unclipped at the top of a drop or steep rock roll!
100% due to the clipless. When you are moving slow like that and all your weight is on the pedal, you are going with the bike. I have done exactly what he did a few times..
Its so nice to see you ride our local trails... if you ever come back to cali it would be awesome to see you ride the scotts flatt trail and the hoot trail
Ohhh Jeeeez .. the feeling when you realize you're going of the bike on the wrong side of the hill. I liked the quick dismounting attempt. That was spectecular.
And that's why you don't follow the bkxc lines! 😂 Glad Brian is OK though, could have ended alot worse. Love the redemption CA series so far, it's been proper entertaining!
LOL @ the "mountainese" reference! Last year we did a 40 mile "gears to beers" country road ride through NW PA which a friend claimed were "rolling hills" that translated to "charlie horse" because the back half of the ride was all uphill. The roadies did OK but on a hardtail it was "no me gusto." OTOH the beers at the end helped with the cramps. This year I hope they reverse the route and that the sponsoring brewery has some sort of porter with a high potassium content lol.
Rode the Auburn trails about a 25 mile loop a year ago, loved it so much... It's the last bit of the pipeline or confluence trail (unsure the name) along the river is still my pc background... Incredible riding!
As I was watching them gliding through the muddy trails I started saying to myself, “little do they know all these ‘Woopies’ and ‘Yeehaws’ would become “BRIIAAAAN!”
I grew up in Rocklin! Been riding that trail my entire life almost. That confluence trail has some pretty big cliff faces.. lucky he didn’t fall a little further up!
Love the dynamic duo! Have y'all considered front fenders - they're pretty inexpensive and may cut down on your lens checks (never mind scratches and replacement)...
I watched a guy crash in almost the exact same spot except he was about 5 feet from the edge of a vertical cliff that dropped 100 ft down to the American River, a lucky save. Glad you're ok Brian
A friend of mine fell at that sketchy falls last year. I was about to call 911, I thought he was dead because he wasn’t moving. Fortunately he got up a few minutes later with no severe injury, just bruises all over, helmet cracked and saved his life.... He’s 50 yrs old BTW and still riding.
@@The_Sampler fair enough. it's easy to judge from a computer screen. just sayin when it comes to things like jumping, drops, etc. it's obvious he has the skill set, especially apparent after watching your follow cam footage. i know it's much easier said than done. anyways great stuff guys, keep em coming!

Proud?
Yeah, a minute or two down the trail he'd be in much worse condition.

I like Redemption CA. because it can technically go on forever as long as Alex stays in CA with Brian. What a dream channel
It seems like Alex makes Brian jump better. He never catches that much air that often in his solo vids. Love it!
I think we both push eachother for sure. Riding with friends that encourage in a good way makes a huge difference
You test his jump abilities . He tests your endurance

Brian with the cat like reflexes straight hopping to his feet! Awesome vid the scenery is so nice LFRHGS!

No paint is lighter
What was that full-body woobie Brian was sporting to change out of his gear? Is it some kind of brilliant surfer thing? Gotta get one😆
Booicore!!
Cool video, That blue Yeti is sick!
This is what is all about going to a brewery to grab drinks and food after having an awesome time riding bikes. Keep rocking guys!!!!! 🤘
