I own them all. Huge P365 fan but still purchased the Shield Plus as both guns have their own personalities and both are very good at what they do. Grip angle and rapid draw-point and shoot are perfect for both. My gut says the Sig is a very slight bit better build construction but only in the compound recoil spring. Honestly, both are premium and can bet your life on so let your hands and grip tell you what feels best. The P365 is smaller but the Shield Plus feels really good in my large hands. Getting all 13 rounds in the Shield + magazine is extremely difficult at first and new shooters will believe it can’t be done. Load them all up and let the magazines break in. I highly recommend shooting the Shield + with 12 +1 for awhile until the 13 round mags loosen up.

Love my P365. I can tell a difference between the Shield and the P365 to the benefit of the Shield. At this time, both are close in price with the Shield being a bit less expensive. Before I purchased the P365, I shot basically all of the subcompacts. The P365 felt the best, most accurate, and the sights are phenomenal. I think the Shield is a good CCW but I give the edge to the Sig P365. My P365 was born on 5/21 so I have had no issues with it at all. I have seen tests of 3 year old P365s before improvements and I think the issues were more related to the individual shooter's grip. I changed my grip to hold. I don't ride the slide but have great points of contact so no problems with last round not holding open. As far as the irregular strokes on the P365, I can show you 300 rounds of brass with no slide marks. All rounds are exact and distinct dots in the primer with no marring on the primer. Previously, my daily CCW was a Shield but the P365 just doesn't imprint as much as the Shield I carried prior. The only criticism I have of the P365 is it takes a while to loosen the spring on the 12 or 15 round mag. I am still using a speed loader although I expect the mag spring will get loosened up as I load it more often. I like speed loaders anyway for most handguns.

I'm a bit late in reviewing this video, but your comments on the P365 are spot on. This is my choice of carry as well. I, too, have a speed loader and really do not mind using it. I do like the idea of a tight spring. Thanks for sharing!!

I do too as it also fits the original shield 40 top. Only thing missing is a 40s&w magazine to make it a 40s&w plus. I did swap, lower 9mm plus with upper shield 1 or mod2 40s&w is a perfect fit - as far as I can see. It racks perfectly, locks back with the 9mm mag, trigger works. I just can't get a mag for the 40 and the 9mm is just too small at the top. As far as I can see the mag or the 40 is the same size - at the top - as the 9mm, its just the follower difference and top of the mag won't let a 40 load.

I have the Shield9 early version with that dump truck trigger. I'll take it all day long over the 365. Both are good guns, but I find the 365 toy-like in my hands - which are smallish. I might get the Plus at some point, but really don't need another gun. Also, having been shooting for 40 years, I have come to the conclusion that everything new is just a variation on a theme that already exists. With that comes the thought that these compact plastic wonders are just dancing around eachother, trying to market to a niche - some niche - any niche. When I think about it, my defense needs are unpredictable, but probabilities are that it will come down to mere feet or just a few yards. So, why care so much about sights anyway. I don't. The most rudmentary sights are plenty fine if you practice. I wore a Colt 1908 for years, and a Model 60 as well. neither has good sights, but with a bit of practice at ranges likely to be encountered will have you hitting a pie plate somewhere in the middle at 7 yards with both eyes open and as fast as you can operate the trigger.
Just give me a basic gun. The Shield fits that niche.

If comfort, grip purchase, trigger pull, and controllability is the object choose the Shield Plus. I have both and now prefer the Shield Plus for my stated reasons. I also have a Gen 2 Performance Center Shield with an optic and 4.5 inch barrel. It is unmodified except for a Hogue grip. With the Shield Plus I would definitely upgrade the sights. However, I could still use the holster from my Gen 1 Shield. I believe enough in this gun that it is one of EDC’s. I had my son buy a Gen 1 when the Gen 2 came out. Shield 2.0s have dropped in price and are currently selling under $300. Just a few weeks ago, you couldn't touch a Shield 2.0 under $400.

The only additional accessory I've put on is a Hogue grip sleeve to add a bit of width for my long fingers. I also have the Hellcat OSP and would recommend either before the shield, nothing against S&W, Love my 686+, but in this concealment catagory they are severely outclassed.

Went and looked at the Smith, the P365, and the Hellcat yesterday. I want to point out that in the opening pic, the Smith looks substantially larger than the P365, but in reality it isn't that much of a difference overall. I will say that the trigger on both of these was really nice, and the reset was also outstanding. The trigger and the reset on the Hellcat were also really good too, but the other two were slightly better. The grip of the Sig is SMALL. If you have larger hands like me, you'll swallow up the Sig. The Smiths sights were just Ok, and the grip texture was a bit too aggressive (IMHO) for appendix carry. The Sigs sights and grips were really nice, but the Hellcats were outstanding (especially those sights). So, in retrospect, the grip size of the Hellcat was right between the the other two, the sights are better, it has one more round capacity (flush fit mag), the trigger was pretty damn good, and it was cheaper than the other two... I walked into the gun store convinced I would buy the Smith, and walked out with the Hellcat.

I like the longer grip of the Shield Plus compared to the P365. The Shield Plus has a tiny bit wider grip, and slide length, and it’s only 2.4 oz. heavier than the P365. The ammo capacity between these 2 pistols is negligible. I think what it really comes down to is your individual comfort holding and firing either weapon. I have strong hands and forearms, so I’ve never experienced the “snappy recoil” that so many shooters complain about in micro-subcompacts like the P365, Hellcat, Glock 43, MAX-9, or Shield Plus.
