Great Video as always. The PPS 43 is an unsung hero when it comes to WWII Sub guns. Kalashnikov himself said that the PPS 43 was one of the best firearms to come out of WWII
I'm not saying you're wrong, but that seems like an extremely dubious claim. Kalashnikov competed against the pps43 with a 7.62x25 predecessor for the AK-47. He then designed the AK at the end of the war by improving upon that design with some inspiration from the StG. There's no question that objectively the AK was the best rifle to come out of ww2, one would think Kalashnikov himself would be well aware of that?
So, I googled it, and what kalashnikov actually said was that the PPS-43 was one of the best submachine guns that saw widespread use during the war. Which is a much less grandiose and much more believable quote.
@@ianloughney9570the ONLY thing that AK and STG have in common that they are assault weapons, and they share similiar shape. Everything else is purely different
@@xgamerbih That simply is not true. Other than the obvious fact that the AK's form factor is openly StG inspired, the use of an intermediate cartridge, the long stroke gas piston system, the double hook trigger pack, the overhead carrier bolt system, stamped sheet construction, these are all design cues that Kalashnikov explicitly said he took from the Stg in the design of the AK. The only significant difference in the design is in the locking systems. But of course no one is claiming they are identical, just that Kalashnikov said he used the Stg as a template for the AK's design. But hey if you want to argue with Kalashnikov, feel free to buy a Ouija board.
@@xgamerbih In fact, to go even further, the gas system is the defining element of the AK's design. Long stroke was it's innovation over things like the sks and svt (both of which used short stroke). The AK's long stroke gas piston is ripped almost whole cloth from the StG. In that, the AK is extremely close in functional design to the StG.
This weapon with an extended barrel (like 14" to 16") produces rifle level velocities with a simple pistol cartridge. This gun is so much deadlier than most people realize, not to mention it's inherent light armor penetration qualities.
Light armor penetration is correct. It is a 7.62mm round after all, just a very small version of it. Anything 7.62mm will penetrate armor or hard objects with relative ease.
