    Hi, I just bought a home with an inground pool and to say it's complicated is an understatement. The house is in Spain so the setup is a little different but your video's are helping immensely so thanks 😊
    A question if you have time.
    The pool has 2 skimmers AND an in-pool connection for the vacuum which the hose connects directly to without any basket. Should I go directly to the waste pipe or continue through the filter to avoid the possibility of clogging ? Also as the pool water is green and full of algae I've been advised to empty the water and refill with clean water. Is there any maintenance I should do whilst empty as I'm sure it hasn't been emptied in over 20 year's. Thanks in advance ☺️

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  Год назад

      I would vacuum out of the skimmer using a vacuum plate, this way you will not have to deal with any potential clogs. You can drain and clean your pool if it is concrete. If your pool is vinyl then you do not want to empty, you would chemically treat.

    How do you backwash the filter? Thank you. Does it matter that it is a DE filter? 😊

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  Год назад +1

      If your filter has a multi-port valve then you will backwash until sight glass is clear and then you will need to rinse afterwards. Once you are done you will have to add DE back to the filter through means of your skimmer. The amount needed will depend on the size of your filter, your filter label should tell you how much to add.

    We dont have a shut off for our skimmers or drain (or we cant find anything that looks like what you showed in video) This is an older system and a 20x40 pool. We tried all of the other steps with no suction. Any ideas?

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  11 месяцев назад

      A pool that size should have valves for your skimmers and a valve for your drain, if you don’t have individual valves for each line then you might have a 3 way valve or throttle plates in your skimmers if the drain or the skimmers are tied together. A throttle plate will allow you to open or close a drain or skimmer depending on how it is plumbed. You should be able close the drain and one skimmer so you will have enough suction to vacuum. Without seeing what you have it is hard to say, if you would like to checkout my patreon page I will be glad to help. Thanks for watching.

      For normal cleaning you vacuum on filter, if a pool is really dirty or algae infested then you vacuum on waste. When you vacuum on waste you will have to add water to the pool.

    Sounds silly, but can you vacuun on recycle or backwash or drain, and, what difference does it make?

      For normal cleaning you would vacuum in filter, if your pool is really dirty or algae infested you would vacuum in waste (drain). When you vacuum in waste you have to add water to the pool because your water level will go down. Do not vacuum on recirculate, in this position you are bypassing the filter and the dirty water will go back to the pool.

    What is happening when I’m vacuuming and I lose suction?!?! It’s so frustrating. Thanks!!

      This problem could be several different things, you could have split in your vacuum hose, a crack on your vacuum plate or a clog in the vacuum hose or even the skimmer line. The system may need to be backwashed and if the pool is really dirty then you may need to vacuum on waste. If you would like to contact me I will be glad to help trouble shoot.

    What if I have 2 skimmers on one valve? How do I turn one off?

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  Год назад

      The correct way would be having a valve on both skimmer lines so you can regulate. In your situation you would have to plug one skimmer so you can vacuum out of the other. When your done vacuuming you would remove the plug.

    so the sand filter setting should be set on ' waste ' and not filter? The same result is debris ends up on the basket but if the water is really green the sand filter on ' waste ? "

    How do you vacum the deep end

  • @79nyisle

    I just got a new Hayward 1.65 horsepower pump and I’m having trouble vacuuming my pool every time we hook up the vacuum we loose prime.

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  11 месяцев назад

      You need to make sure you are hooking up the vacuum hose correctly (end for end). Also make sure that the vacuum hose is in good condition (no holes or splits), make sure the hose is primed when hooking up to the skimmer. You also want to make sure your pump is fully primed before starting. These are just a few things to check, I don’t have enough information and there are several other things that could also be the problem. Hopefully this will help. Thanks for watching.

      @@HallmarkPoolSupplies When you say hooking up the hose correctly what do you mean

    • @HallmarkPoolSupplies
      @HallmarkPoolSupplies  11 месяцев назад

      There are two ends on your vacuum hose, the stationary end goes on the vacuum plate in the skimmer and the swivel end goes on the vacuum head. If you hook up backwards you will suck air, resulting in loss of suction.
