My pool supply guy always told me to do it in waste mode. So i just do that. Regardless of level of dirt. Otherwise, for the in-between, I just use my bots. I have a skimmer bot and a floor/wall bot. Though, I need a better floor/wall bot. Went with Polaris and that was a super expensive mistake.
For normal cleaning vacuum in filter, you will save money on chemicals and water. Using a robotic cleaner for normal cleaning is good. Use waste when your pool is really dirty or algae infested. Thanks for watching.
I have had extremely good service out of my Polaris 280. You have to cut the hoses to the correct length, use good swivels and replace as necessary, learn how to service it, (it’s quite easy), a handy DIY’er can keep it going with a little maintenance. It does need part replacements from time to time. Usually a couple parts per season. I love mine and combine it with an Ariel skim bot.
Great information thank you sir. One thing I learned (as a new pool owner here...lol) is I turn my MAIN drain off and use the SKIMMER drain only while vacuuming. I lost almost half my pool water by not doing this, ugh.
@@danielwon1937 If you have a sand filter it sounds like you need to backwash and rinse the system thoroughly. You want to also make sure that your skimmer and pump baskets are not clogged. Thanks for watching.
It seems like vacuuming to waste will result in losing a lot of water while in the process of doing it. Since you hook the vacuum into the skimmer, doesn’t that water drop affect the skimmer and the actual vacuuming of the pool?
Yes, this is why l tell you in the video that when vacuuming the pool in waste that you will have to add water to the pool. You will only vacuum in the waste position if your pool is extremely dirty and algae infested. For normal vacuuming and cleaning you will vacuum in the filter position. Thanks for watching.
It is extremely green and algae invested when we opened it this week. I was just concerned about the water loss doing it to waste but I guess it’s best to overfill before we start. Thanks!
Great video ! I’m using Ocion Copper in my pool because of Chlorine allergy. When I was vacuuming to waste I lost a lot of expensive liquid 😂 Now I just use a Volt FX 8 cordless vacuum- love it - no more hoses and Volt picks up fine silty juk from bottom and my water level stays same. 👍🇨🇦
@@charleseddem7042 When vacuuming in filter or waste you will vacuum from the skimmer line. You can close the drain or any other skimmer (if you have more than one skimmer) so that you can get more suction when vacuuming. Thanks for watching.
Sir, why is that when I vacuum thru waste, it's difficult to rotate multi valve dial to filter. Also, when you say to close the drain valve for better suction ( I've been having problems with the hose disconnecting from the vacummn) , is that the return water valve to the pool.? Thanks in advance
Never rotate the handle when the pump is running. Also make sure that you have the correct end of the vacuum hose hooked up properly. The stationary end of the hose hooks up to the vacuum plate when vacuuming. Thanks for watching.

We filter vacumme but after 15min vacumme loses power and stops. Then we rather switch off incase we damanage the pump. Do you know why it does this?

What type of filter system do you have? Are you vacuuming in the filter position or the waste position?
