  • (Mission file: ATO A 03.4) Took a few takes but have a nice demo of a SU-25T flight with IR threats everywhere (that aren't noted on pre-flight plan)
    some of my Vikhrs had tracking problems but i ended up with 114 score and 100 pct result.... was definetly challenging enough.

    Found out after dying about 20 times that you can "watch replay" or whatever and press ctrl + z to get close to where you died then press shift + z to go back to regular speed. Then, if most variables didnt change, you should be able to pick it back up before getting blasted. Immersion killing but saves you hours of redundancy.

    I've had to repeat this mission like 200 times before I actually learned how to attack and avoid defences properly. I'm gonna start the campaign and do it like if my life depended on it :P like a real pilot. It's all matter of patience and awareness... Never rush into target, take the time to make know the threats

      Did I something wrong?

    So when they say "scout", they just mean fly next to the targets and "look" at them? Then the artillery will start to fall on them? I've played this mission a million times and I couldn't understand wtf they wanted me to do.

    To me the Georgian oil war campaign is prime example of the deficiencies of the AI. All AI aircraft tend to get shot down as they have no concept of staying in safe areas and go back there once they attacked a target. Instead the will fly in the danger zones until they all get downed by the ridiculous amounts of anti air assets. Has actually anyone ever survived the campaign without being shot down once? I sure didn't. :(

    Thnak you for your video.
    All the time of the mission, you have your flaps in take off position. It's a mistake?

    Kinda late comment but, when you lock on that first target, it almost seems like it "auto-locked" or something. I personnaly fiddle a shit ton more in order to adjust orientation AND box size before I am able to lock...
    How did you do that? Is there a setting to help you auto-lock like that? Or are you just insanely fast at locking a target?

    • @Csilk
      @Csilk  7 лет назад

      If you want quickest lock undersize box, theres very little benefit if ANY to sizing it properly.
      Why? No idea.

    • @Csilk
      @Csilk  7 лет назад

      You get a lock if on something, however if box is to large then it might not auto snap, hope this helps.

    I am watching youtube videos right now of that mission of DCS World (the first of the SU25T) and all the videos are showing different missions, like nobody has the same objective, number of ennemy vehicles, etc.
    I keep getting shot down, but I'm going up against like 20+ vehicles, all in the same spot, with at least half that are anti-air.
    How the hell am I suppose to survive that? I can't get ONE kill without getting owned by all that ennemy fire.

      I haven't played this exact mission but I will give you detailed advice on defensive flying generally, the best I can anyways. Fly low or high to avoid SAMs, depending on which type of SAM it is and what its capabilities are. For wimpy SAMs that have a very low ceiling you can consider flying just above their range and run in that way. If they have a high ceiling and high performance missile definitely fly below radar. Positively ID the SAMs you're dealing with and look them up in the game's database or even online. Fly high/fast to avoid AAA if its your only threat.
      Next consideration is what's killing you? Are you getting hit by radar guided missiles with a launch warning on your RWR? Chaff, ECM. Are you getting hit by IR guided missiles with no warning? Flare. Are you unsure, or are there multiple threats? Dispense both in a syncopated rhythm.
      If SAMs are the biggest threat, or really almost if they're at all a consideration, the safest bet is to fly low when you're flying into the target area. Pop up and run in at the latest you can while still being able to get a lock with your Vikhr (or whatever weapon). If you're playing without labels on, your best way to find out where they are is when you pop up and get them on RWR that will let you know where they are, just make a note of the direction you got the spike. Visually acquiring targets without labels is very difficult and RWR is absolutely vital. Definitely brush up on the manual if you're unfamiliar with any aspect of the RWR.
      Alternatively you can fly in high, but the thing about that is they will still be able to radar lock you and see where you are for a long period of time, you'll just be out of range of their missiles, and your run in is a longer line the farther you are away from the target (altitude will put you farther away.)
      If there's a lot of AA guns, you definitely don't want to pass over the area, and even if there aren't it's generally better to only be flying toward the target for as long as it takes to A) lock and fire if passive guidance or B) confirm that your weapon is either on path for terminal or hits, at which point you want to break off immediately and circle back to set up another run. Don't fly all the way over the target area and do another pass that way. Notice what the guy in this video is doing where he breaks off as soon as his Vikhrs hit (they are not fire and forget or he would break off as soon as they launch.) That's your aim.
      And again, forgive me for belaboring the point but if there are SAMs, you want to go low when you get radar locked (loud noise on RWR), this will almost certainly break their radar lock (it will go quiet/back to slow beeping). If you're popping up when you're within close range of the SAM then even if they do fire one off, it will have a harder time tracking you because you'll be inside of minimum range. There's a sweet spot where SAMs can hit you--too far away or too close in and they have a very low probability of scoring a hit.
      Again, deploying countermeasures liberally, and using ECM (if radar missiles) while keeping missiles perpendicular or behind you (ECM shoots backward on Su-25T) will help. However if you're popping up and diving back in fast enough, they probably won't even have time to launch before losing lock on you.
      If you know you're only going to be in the AO for a short period, consider continual dispense for your countermeasures. That's just one less thing to worry about when you're running in.

    why u dont put your laser on when shoot the vihkr?

    • @Csilk
      @Csilk  8 лет назад

      Vikhr arms laser on weapon release, laser doesn't need to paint a target without a vikhr following the beam.

      That's why the first vikhr in every run mysteri0ously veers off and a second must be fuired. LR isn't prearmed.

    just gotta fly close enough and low enough (not sure how low) as the zone in the mission plan

      +=LFC= Hello.
      I know this video is old, but maybe you can help me.
      I'm trying to understand this mission. So like you, i'm starting killing tanks. First line is not problem - problem is the second line of tanks. I shot to one tank about 5 vikhrs, every hit, but this tank doesn't want die! So i switched to kh29L to finally kill this bastard. And what i found? even kh29l doesn't want kill him. So i shot second and enabled missle view. What i discovered? All this missles hit a hill -.- But i see that you can kill this tanks. I tried various of angles of attack. Any tips regarding killing this tanks?
      PS: i found that our task is only to fly and SPOT enemy command post. Then Recon objective will acomplish mission.

    • @Csilk
      @Csilk  8 лет назад

      I only killed stuff for fun.
      shooting slightly downhill gradient makes shots very difficult, just attack from a different angle.

      I'm a hard man to catch at the moment, 2 kids and a wife often I don't have the time to invest in a good session of flying and I'd be quite a bit rusty, although probably still better then I flew in 2014 :P
