    Note the secondary needle is not a course deviation needle, as stated in the vid. its actually a course setting needle. Thats why you will always offset away from it for an intercept , whereas you offset towards the CDI. A key point is you don't need this needle at all if you know the desired course. Simply offset to put BPN on that compass bearing, and turn onto it.

    I realize that this is an old video, but since this module is still on sale, new players keep coming in .. and tutorials such as these are really very useful. I first learned the Su-25T, and I'm just now learning the older version; so I just wanted to give you a thank you and my appreciation for your effort. I'm glad that you didn't put any music, since it makes it easier, for non native english speakers, to understand your words. Cheers :)

    Thank you so much!!!! This video has cleared up so many questions I've had regarding getting around in the Frog Foot. The SU-25T is so much "easier" to fly because of the upgraded avionics but not nearly as much fun or as pretty as the A model.
    I can't wait to watch all of your other vids.
    Thanks again!

    Excellent "IFR" (Instrument Flight Rules) instruction. DCS aircraft require time and dedication if you want the rewards of flying them correctly. The only dilemma is deciding which ones to devote our limited time rather than flying them VFR from the HUD and the F10 map. Thank You for dedicating your time to this tutorial sir. Thumbs up.

    Fish, once again thank you for your tutorials. I learned so much about the A-10C from you and now you've clarified this obscure navigation system in an aircraft that I've also fallen in love with in DCS.

    note: the dircetion is not the circle (anymore?) , but the tippy needle , it probably changed some time ago.

    Good video, I actually enjoy you DCS videos having watched quite a few of them, generaly very helpfull. Just a little butt in from me this time, When you described the HSI and it's functions, the course deviation indicator, is not actually a course deviation indicator. It's a desired course heading and it never moves for each waypoint because it marks the course you want to be flying to that waypoint. If you draw it down on paper it becomes easier to see why it works the way it does.

    Fantastic Tutorial Gerry. Keep up the good work. Makes the Su-25 a more attractive aircraft to fly. Maybe now Ill be able to find my targets :-).

    Thank you Gerry for the nice video. I'm totally new to flight-sim and I'm watching all your videos -mostly A-10 videos- traying to learn as much as possible. My only problem is my bad english (I'm italian). Keep it up.

    Well spotted. Yes you are correct. Realized after the video was done. The secondary needle is as you said a course setting needle. Thats why you will always offset away from it for an intercept , whereas you offset towards the CDI. A key point is you don't need this needle at all if you know the desired course. Simply offset to put BPN on that compass bearing, and turn onto it.

    Really helpful video Gerry - Thanks! The only problem I have is the kneepad not coming up. I have tried rctrl + k, rshift + k, ralt + k, and all the left keys too with no luck! Do I need to enable something in the options?

    I had some keys remapped for convenience. Check out the key bindings from the game OPTIONS, CONTROLS for the Su25, scroll down the the 'k's and you will see the kneeboard default bindings.

    Cant look at the moment, but make sure you've selected the Su25 sim, as the aircraft, and the commands as 'All. You should see the commands under 'kn.....' If you don't there maybe an issue with your controller file, but that's not likely. If u still have problems, suggest you post on the ED forums, in the Su25 section.

    Great job! Was wondering how I know which WP is active at any time, the lamps seem to be good for that ;-)

  • @peenice

    Yeh I tried that at first, but I don't have kneepad under any of the drop down tabs in controls. I have options to keep terrain camera altitude, and three others for keyboard rate but no kneeboard.
    I will post on the forums - good video though :)

    Wait, how did you get the clickable cockpit in the Su-25?
    Are you using the mouse at 06:30?

    which version of the Su25 is this? i havent played Russian planes in a while, but this is not the Su25 i rememeber from the free version, or FC3

    • @gerryabbott

      Its a standalone module

      Gerry Abbott ah! thank you!

    • @nymerie
      @nymerie 10 лет назад

      Gerry Abbott The standalone module is still the same as the one in the DCS world free module, isn't it? I mean you still don't have a fully interactive cockpit where you can click on all the buttons and switches, right? Plus it says on their website (digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/) and I quote here: "Note: the aircraft model is identical to the Flaming Cliffs 3 module. Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase." So please clarify more please so I don't buy the wrong game.
      Thanks for the cool video.

    • @Hypersteff89
      @Hypersteff89 9 лет назад +2

      nymerie It's not. The free one is a Su-25T, the one shown in this video is a Su-25A. Thr A can be purchased as standalone or as part of Flaming Cliffs 3. Those are the same but the T is different

    • @gerryabbott
      @gerryabbott  10 лет назад

      its part of DCS for Su25. Check the control mappings in the setting to find what it is. I menioned the keys, but mine are mapped different to default.

      Sorry, meant to say, in your controls, select the SU25, then search under controls for 'Kneeboard', mine is K for quick view, and LCTL K for toggle on. other functions there also.

      Sorry Alex, my bad, the image is just a screen dump of the mission planner I cropped and added it in the 'images's section of the mission briefing. The notes alongside are just briefing notes, added in the mission editor. The briefing screen is always available during the mission. It pauses the mission in single play but not in MP.

    Does this one have a clickable cockpit? How about some actual procedures required? Just one kb button start and off we go? This is not a simulator. Just got DCS and super disappointed.

    • @gerryabbott
      @gerryabbott  2 года назад

      No clickable pits with the free stuff. If you want click and go, might wanna try something like war thunder. DCS is a simulator, not for the feint hearted.

    • @flinfaraday1821
      @flinfaraday1821 2 года назад

      @@gerryabbott Sorry, mistyped - edited my post. It is exactly the click and go I do NOT want, which is exactly what this is. There are no startup procedures or any procedures for that matter, just start 1&2 and there we go. Not for the feint of heart? LOL. This is arcade compared to Falcon BMS.

    • @gerryabbott
      @gerryabbott  2 года назад

      @@flinfaraday1821 try landing it in a 15 knot crosswind. Lots of stuff in DCS if its procedures you want, but you will have to pay for them. BTW, P51 i believe comes free and has HFFM, and clickable pits

      got to controls, select 'search' and type kneeboard, you will see all the commands and keys. I have RSHF K to toggle, and K to quick view. Not sure if they are default keys.
