Thanks for this video my trackIR has never been brilliant and sometimes played me up until i used your step by step tutorial and now its awesome. I have been suffering for about 15 years how embarrassing
Thank you for this video! I thought Track IR5 would be plug n play. Not! I was about to send it back until I ran across your tutorial. I followed it to the T and now mine works. I'm still experimenting with different tweaks to get the best use now but, your video really helped me out.
I had TrackIR for years now and thought the "default" was just how TrackIR worked. I came across your video and boy was I wrong. Completely changed the way I see in my P3D/X-Plane/DCS now. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
I was at the point of frustration and sticking my Track IR on ebay until I came across your video. Now all is clear and my Track IR is working beautifully! Thanks so much :)
Gary this is THE BEST presentation on TRACK IR setup on WWW! You brought my X-plane setup with Track IR from mediocre to close to real world. Thank you so much!
I struggled w/ setup for days until I came across your vid by Goggling & am glad I did. I feel I'm about 85% there. Need to fine tune profiles. The manual leaves a lot to be desired:( I was trying to program ALL axis at same time which really tripped me up. Thanks for getting me out of the woods. My wife & dog haven't seen or heard from me in days. I'm in my 60's & catching on quickly is not one of my attributes! It's been awefully lonely out there. Your teaching method & voice are very easy to follow & understand. I'm now a subscriber. Thanks, Jim
At last found someone that has a real talent for explaining things systematically and clearly, my trackIR for the first time now works great not only in DCS but other flight sims as well. Thank you.
Hey Gerry I just purchased my Trackir and I'm so glad I came across you tutorial, your explanations of the different profiles was greatly appreciated and I hope will let me get through the setup of the software without too much trouble.
Hiya Gerry, Thank you for the video. Have been using TIR5 for more than 4 years now, but never really created any personal profile. I used the default profile with all its limitations. Things changed for me today. Thanks again.
Gerry THANK YOU for this video, I was able to customize my TrIR for IL-2 1946 (thanks to this informative vid of yours) and now I don't feel............like I'm in a box with a whole cut out in the front, I now feel like the views are FULLY WIDE OPEN!!
Thank you Gerry. I am new to DCS and TrackIR. This video was very helpful. I am glad this is still relevant after 6 years after its posting. I am rediscovering PC flight simulation (original Falcon 4 jockey), and I am blown away with the DCS platform, it’s community and longevity.
I was a little frustrated, but then I found your exemplary video. Thank you so much, you really helped me a lot, to understand, and get my TrackIR function properly.
Well done sir! Made me want to get back in the A-10! I have been concentrating on getting my I-11 test passed on Pilotedge, and scenery development. But now, you reminded me that there has been a certain lack in my life… And that is blowing shit up Thanks! Chas
Another great video demonstration. My A-10C flight skills would not be what they are today without your highly-detailed and informative tutorial videos. Thanks.
Just watched your tutorial and I'm now going to have a closer look at my settings to see if I can resolve an issue which I find quite annoying. I have been using TrackIR5 for a few months now and it's probably the best single piece of kit I've purchased for my flight sim. That said, the issue I'd like to resolve is very similar to that outlined by Simon Skyfall (three entries below mine). Typically, when landing, the runway is often at a slight angle to the right despite trying to line up correctly. I have a switch on my HOTAS mapped to re-centre the TrackIR and find myself continually pressing this as I approach the runway. I'm hoping your tutorial will help me to fix this issue. Thanks for a great reference guide - this is not an easy topic to explain but I think we all agree you have done great job - well done.
thank you Gerry,,, the only thing I need is to make some dead zone because my head moves way too much,, and also I fly more than one type of flfight sim.. IL-2, DCS, etc... but instead of my trackir cloeecting dust, I wil start using my TrackIR more often because you helped me more than anyone else.. YOu have a gift,,, trackIR should hire you to do help videos.. IMHO
under the 'Advanced Settings', make sure the 'Profiles' tab is selected. Below that you will see a box labelled 'HotKeys' Key assignments are made there. Don't forget to 'save' the profile, from the floppy disk icon at the end of the profile line.
Great How To tutorial. Helped me immensely. Now ising TIR with DCS A10c and Arma3. Next is to get Saitek X52 programmed. I see Saitek finally came out with new drivers for Windows 8.1. SST Programming software now works. Now to get X52 profile for A10c. Cheers
Thanks mate have been using for FSX with my own profiles for a while now, couldnt seem to get it right on DCS. Appreciate the level of detail provided in the video, cheers from downunder.
U can guess from the video, that I'm not a great fan of precision mode or dead zones. I just use constant centring with a well mapped centring button. Might take a little bit more to get used to it this way. Works and feels more natural. Map the pause button if you want to hold your view for a bit. You could start with deadzone, and gradually reduce it as you get more used to how it feels. You will get the best experience when you don't have dead zones.
Outstanding! I just purchased The TrackIR 5 and the clip...and while it was pretty good as a plug and play...your help is going to take to to a wonderful new level... Thanks!!
Absolutely love your videos and the very well paced presentation and clear direction you give, hope to see more! Some of your videos have helped me greatly thus far.
Not obvious from the video, but there's a vertical scroll bar, on the profiles tab, if you make sure its scrolled up (in the video its scrolled down), you should see the a profiles 'header' section, which has all the create/name/copy/save options. They all have smart help, so hover over them and you can see what they do.
I just love your A10 vids, it feels like you was born in this machine :) I've learn here more than from any other subscribed channels. Thanks, and greetings from Balbriggan.
Nice video, Gerry. Very informative :) My setup was quite agricultural when I first set it up. I have been using practically the same one for the last 2 years. I will look at revamping to match yours. Thanks for sharing.
Very good instructional WD -- I use TrackIR for ARMA3: To use in Infantry/Helos/Jets you will need a 'Dead-Zone', because this allows slight head movement without any dramatic resulting movement on screen. Otherwise you can have distinct profiles for ground and air roles i.e. On the ground you will want a dead zone, whereas in the air this is not really needed, I find. (Primaate - HT/ TR KotH MP)
Thank you very much for this video...I just got TIR5 for Rise of Flight and it's causing me all sorts of headaches! Your vid is extremely helpful and I will see if I can translate it to RoF.
if i understand the question, you need to have all the axis radio buttons under the motion adjustment section, ticked after you are happy with them (or only the ones you want, i for example dont use the z axis in ARMA). then hit the save button under the profiles tab, to save the settings.
Hi Antimoni. No experience with FTNIR. TIR has a pause, which locks/unlocks the view, and a centering (reset view) button. Both can be mapped to any single key commands.
Thanks very much your video was a great help to me. i got my Trackir 5 pro today for DCS A10c. an its awesome, an yes you are right it does make me feel a little queezie to start with.. Once again Many thanks for your Help, you are Top man.
thanks for your great video- can you please tell me how to make trackir deafult to your custom profile every time it starts up- as I created a custom profile- but every time the software loads it loads the 'default' profile..since I mainly use trackIR for flight sims- the 'smooth' profile is still prefrable over the 'default' profile.. so at the very least, defaulting to the 'smooth' profile on starting up the software would be prefrable to it deafulting to the 'default' profile...thanks for anyone's feedback!
I had this discussion before, see below. No matter , air or ground, Smooth curve with deep well, works much better than a 'dead' zone, as it guarantees there is no dramatic change to the view no matter what you do. If you really like the dead zone, then i suggest you DON'T have any sharp (fall off a cliff!) angles in the profile.
Find the install folder, by right click on the shortcut, and choose 'OPEN FILE LOCATION'. In there is a 'PROFILES' folder. All the files are in there as .XML. If you got one from someone, then drop it in there, and restart TIR.
Hello Gerry....new to DCS & TiR. Your video is a must see and very helpful. (Much more so than from TrackiR.) Quick question please sir: I want to sit lower in the cockpit. I was trying to adjust the Y Axis but can't figure out how you got that bar graph to appear (10 degrees on the left side of center & 3 degrees on the right side) Just using the up & down arrows doesn't have the same effect. Is there a simple explanation you could share please? Thanks!
Thanks Gerry for the prompt feedback...I figured out that for some reason when TrackIR is in full screen mode the curve display does not show the curve but as soon as I go out of full screen mode all is revealed. I have another query if you don't mind, I am used to using Ezdoc in FSX which allows me to create fixed stable views of the various pit panels that I assign to buttons on the joystick. Could you suggest how I might do something similar using Track IR?
Thanks Gerry for your tutorial i got a lot out of it being a new user. I still need to do a minor adjustment i was hoping you can tell me how to set it. The configuration i have done is based on your tutorial. I am finding that i am still moving my head a fair bit on the screen. How can i reduce this.
Thanks Jerry.. discovered that in full screen mode the curve panel displays differently than when minimised for some reason. Another question if I may... I am used to using Ezdoc which allows me to configure fixed and stable views of various pit panels that I assign to joystick buttons that I can call up during flight. Could you suggest a way of trying to get the same effect using TrackIR??
I was watching this video then relized that the normal one they give you pretty much works fine for me I just needed to mess with the look up and down one abit which it's bad, I give you a thumbs up tho.

I have the same UV coaetd glasses, no issues here. Don't try to run it in bright daylight, cause you need the sensitivity up, and you glasses will be picked up. Best in low light, with no direct light onto the camera. Adjust the sensitivity appropriately. Camera veiw always the best for this job.
Okay-No problems so far aside from adjusting the sensor to my liking. I can't thank you enough on the video. It saved me a lot of time figuring out the software.

Hi Gerry have had TrackIR5 for some time and used it in FSX and have done very little tweaking. Your video has certainly opened up a whole new understanding of how to use much more of its features. I have recently downloaded DCS A10 and am very keen to use your profile. Once downloaded how do I import it? Also when I have a profile open displaying advanced settings I am not seeing the curve with all the adjustment points that I see on your video. Would appreciate any tips you might have. Thanks
I like your presentation very much. But I can't get past the first 3 minutes. I line up the camera so that the 3 green spots are centered in the Camera View, as you described. Then I switch to 3D View, and everything is askew. The X and Y axes are tilted, and all my head views are at the top of the screen looking sharply down. Any suggestions?
Actually, the problem vanished when I exited and then reloaded the TIR software. It seems to happen whenever I leave the software open after I've finished playing and put my headset away. I will just remember to close the software when I'm done. Now I can get back to your excellent presentation and calibrate this thing properly with your help! Thanks again.

Just bought a trackir and this video was better help setting it up than anything else I found. Thanks for the help!
many thanks Gerry
fantastic and useful information,
I was somewhat discontented and bitter for not being able to use the track ir properly.
I just purchase TrackIR5 and your presentation is very useful.
this is the best video for track IR that I've come across. T hanks for putting in so much effort to educate us
Great to see people getting value from it after all these years. 😃
Save this video link friends. This is by far, THE best instructional video available for setting up TrackIR.

Great video Gerry! Very clear and helpful. It's generous of you to take the time.
I do not fly A10, but I do fly Warbirds. Your video has been very helpful, thank you!
I was having a rough time of it, until I watched this video. Thanks.
Thanks. because of your video I could adjust my TrackIr more properly.
Thank you Gerry for making this tweaking guide. It helps a lot.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This was the missing manual for me!
Many thanks for this! I've just recieved trackIR for christmas, and was having a little grief setting it up.

Gerry, I had no idea you can do that much with TIR. Great tips. Thank you. I am working on my new profile right now thanks to your suggestions.
Thanks a lot Gerry for this video, I am getting a TrackIR any day now and your video was a great help!!!
Very informative. I can actually look around my cockpit now much more freely!
outstanding explanation Gerry, thank you for taking the time to make this.

Superb! Going to try out advanced settings now. Thank you for making everything so easy to understand.
Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for to help me set up TrackIR.
Cheers
Jim
This was very good and easy-to-follow-video. Thanks
Thanks Gerry, just got TIR 5 with Proclip and this helped with the setup.
Very useful, Gerry, that just got me up and running with my Track IR :)
Brilliant upload mate, really appreciate your work 🥃
On the motion adjustment panel, check the 'trueview' option on the left. Try it both ways.
Thanks for the great explanation on how to configure the software !!! Great help.
thanks for the tutorial, got my Trackir5 today and needed some help setting it up.
Thank you! I will be studying this over and over.
Thank you sir for creating this.....appreciate it very much

Hey Igor, now you are a blast from the past. trust all is well.
Thanks - excellent job - helped me out no end
another awesome vid, thanks for taking the time to compose these videos Gerry.
G'day! A very comprehensive explanation - this is really helpful, thanks!!!
Excellent video thanks for the time you took to do it..
Thanks Gerry for the prompt feedback...I figured out that for some reason when TrackIR is in full screen mode the curve display does not show the curve but as soon as I go out of full screen mode all is revealed. Truly excellent! Thank you so much for making it so clear and methodical.
Awesome video sir! Thank you for taking the time to make it.
What IR LED clip are you using? It doesn't look the Track Clip Pro for the Track IR 5.
This was unbelievably helpful, thank you so much!
Thank you for the profile! Btw, which buttons on the Hotas Warthog do you use for pausing and centering?
Great Video that helped me a lot. Stopped me from getting sick in the pit ;-)
I was watching this video then relized that the normal one they give you pretty much works fine for me I just needed to mess with the look up and down one abit which it's bad, I give you a thumbs up tho.
Thank you very much for sharing this!
many thanks for this , have a peacefull new year
Very good video nice and clearly explained thanks a lot.
What bottom in your HOTAS do you use to center the view of the track ir?
Nice vid Gerry. Top explanations there. great overview
+ and - for centering and pausing. Smart!
Very helpful RUclips. Thanks.
I just took delivery of a Track IR 4-but it has the latest software. One thing I noticed when calibrating-I wear glasses with a photo gray coating to cut back on UV.. I could see not only the green dots-but red oblong dots from my glasses from the infra red reflected off my lenses when in CAMERA VIEW-and sometimes the red dots flash green when my head is at certain angles. Does this mess up calibration? I don't know.
Just mention it. I fly without my glasses with no problems. But I was thinking maybe sunshine -artificial light may not just play with Track IR usage -but the UV coatings on prescription glasses. FWIW.
Hi Gerry,
I'm signed up for your channel, I bought a TrackIr 5 with a hat clip, it comes next week, I'm flying BMS.
I have questions to ask you !!!
This BMS profile your posted, here in the comments below is for TrackIr 5 with hat clip ???
Did you update this profile?
Please, can you guide me as to the TrackIr 5 hat clip ???
Thank you !!!
Same for both clip and track hat. Just make sure the setting in the software is for whatever you have. Just click on the button on the top left of the software.
Thanks
Perfectly explained!
Thank you.
Hello, do you use pedals and joystick for dcs? And if yes what kind.
Awesome video. Very helpful! Thank you!
You need to center the '3d' view, with the centering button (Might be F11 by default, but you will need to check that).
A very good video!!!! You have a bit of an accent. From the USA!
