Oh my god this is great! I watched the highlights thinking this video was just a boring cockpit view of the mission, but you actually showed the various assets in action! That's how you keep the viewer interested in the footage! Well done! Another like!
Back in 2009 I had a friend that introduced me to this game and we would play while talking on TeamSpeak......way before Discord ever existed. We eventually lost touch and now I'd more likely win a million dollar lottery than find someone on discord who would enjoy this game. It's such a shame.... All anyone wants to play is first person shooter games and now I am sad
Very well shot and edited! Ever think about doing Director of Photography work for films? Better than any editing job I saw by any student at Film school. And the game rocks too!
Thanks for encouraging comment! DCS World sure does rock. I've been a fan since the original Su-27 Flanker sim. This vid was purely a learning exercise over a couple of weekends for me to share the depth of the sim and I'm very happy some people have enjoyed it. I haven't thought about taking it further but that sure sounds interesting!
I hear you! The recording code is probably very old. When they originally implemented it the sim was likely very deterministic and saving player inputs to record would have saved a lot of ram and disk space. It may have been the only way originally. Now the sim is more complex and when you go multi-threaded determinism can get difficult unless you're extremely careful. I suspect they're saddled with a huge effort to rewrite it to get replays more accurate but it's only a guess on my part.
I did take awhile. Fortunately you can fast forward to specific spots in the track playback quite quickly so I got quicker at it once I got some sort of process down. I did do some planning of the shots once I knew what events I wanted to record which helped as well.
Put the specs up in the comments. Machine is getting on a bit but overclocking is enabling it to keep up. Some of this was recorded using the Record AVI feature which allows max detail at whatever frame rate you want.
Most of the action here is against Georgia which according to Wikipedia still has a lot of modified Russian equipment. I mentioned NATO at the beginning of the Video but the scenario designers actually state a Western Coalition which includes a bunch of NATO countries. In the campaign Georgia and Kazakhstan are exporting oil to the west in pipelines bypassing Russia. Russia initiates action to maintain a cut. You have to be careful when doing these missions you don't take out friendlies.
so you play the DCS game and can fly different types of helis/planes or do you download patches for that? Because I saw different DCS games. On the other hand you see players playing online using various helis/plane. I don't get it...
DCS World is the base product and is a freely downloadable flyable Caucasus region. It comes with a couple of free aircraft (Su-25 and P51d) you can use to try out. If you like it you can then purchase other very detailed aircraft and helicopter addons or "modules" that come with their own missions and campaigns that are conducted within the DCS World region. Hope that makes things clearer. Checkout their website. www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/world/
droberts20 I have DCS Black Shark already installed. Must I download DCS World and install it in order to be able to combine all helis/planes in one game? Does that mean I have firstly to uninstall Black Shark and then install DCS World and then reinstall Black Shark?
nymerie Yes, you'll need to install DCS World to combine all aircraft into one game. You won't need to uninstall Black Shark 1 as DCS World will coexist fine with it. I think you will need to upgrade to installl the Black Shark module for DCS World if you only own the original Black Shark 1 and not Black Shark 2. I would download DCS World and try it out to make sure it runs OK on your computer before making any purchases.

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you - very helpful for learning this complex sim! I'd love to see more like this.
Very nice of you to say. Thanks!

Огромная работа! Здорово!
Nice video! I'm looking for some Ka-50 pilots to fly with online. I'm pretty good at flying the Ka-50! What do you think? We could give it a try!

That musta taken AGES to make, since you cant rewind in the replay..you have to start from scratch each time
