Matty has two solo Christian albums out. I think Memphis is a metalcore band with positive messages. I’m not 100% sure if they are a Christian Metalcore band though. Matty is however very passionate about his faith in Christ.

After a divorce... loosing my home, my life, my family everything important to me.. To tell you my life was ripped apart is an understatement. AFTER surviving.... two years later im able to smile again... I'm in the pouring rain literally carrying 40lbs tree rounds uphill stacking them for winter and I hear this song... My life has corrected. I KNOW who I am and how strong I am. Let me tell you there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I dont know who you are but just hold on. It will get better.... Believe and have faith in God if you don't feel like you can believe in yourself. He created you for a reason. Sometimes your being forged in a fire. To become something incredibly strong. You are special. Your story of pain is so you will to be able to look someone in the eyes with sincerity... and say ive been there brother. Take my hand... let's go home.

Not liking something doesn't mean you are a "hater"
Ok, that’s true to some degree maybe. But when you post comments for everyone to see instead of just thinking that to yourself and moving on and simply choose to not listen to that song it’s going a step further for what… the band to see it and change the song or their sound to please that one person?! There’s a reason people post things or write their opinion on a public wall. They want the specific person(s) and/or anyone to see it so they’re heard for some reason and know that they are displeased. Maybe “hater” is too strong of a word but it’s directed down that ally, is it not?
I don't care if people hate this song because "it doesn't sound the same" The fucking MEANING of this song is fire and therefore my favorite song on this album. He's talking about the burdens of society and how people, like the ones commenting that they don't sound the same, want them to stay the same always. If we wanted Challenger 50 times they wouldn't make more music or do concerts. The weight in this world is hard to carry but sometimes we are stuck holding it cause nobody understands. We feel pressured and burdened to change all little bits of us and he feels pressured into doing that. This song is fire and if you don't like it then you have issues.

Despite the lack of any real aspects of metalcore in this new Memphis May Fire album, this is actually a super nice song. Matty really took full advantage of his singing abilities on this one, that’s for sure. If the band is fully set to go into this direction, so be it.

Memphis May Fire is absolutely amazing no matter what they make. they changed a bit and that's fine. They still create solid, meaningful music. Stop hating and keep supporting!
The burden is great , but I have faith I'll carry on. Very few songs have such deep meaning and very few artist such depth . This gave me chills and hope .
MMF uses their platform for good in an overwhelmingly evil world . If you don't respect that, your missing the point.

This is an amazing blend of 2 great artists, both are incredible and have the traction to be called great artists. So let's see half of you accomplish just 1% of what these artists have done. Besides both artists doing what they love at no expense to the glory of God. My hats off to this.. I'm a huge fan of both artists and have been for a long time, that will not change.
So the song is basically about him feeling burdened with trying to be himself, since people will judge him anyway. And a lot of the comments here are people saying they hate this new sound and wish that they'd go back to their old style.

I used to listen to Christian Rap a lot and then converted a slowly from Emo to Metal and Metalcore type stuff. This is literally the mid way between the 2 and I find it good
Haha. I was the opposite. I listened to Rock, Punk, Emo and then to Metalcore. I fell out about 7-8 years ago from the scene and listen to Christian rap now, but I still try to keep up with the metalcore scene every now and then.

I still listen to bands like TDWP, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Of Mice & Men, Norma Jean, etc. I'm just not around it as much because there is no scene, and my friends don't listen to that stuff. So it's hard to connect with people I know.

Memphis May Fire was one of my all time favorite metalcore bands back in the day. Challenger and Unconditional had some of my all time favorite tracks; with unforgettable breakdowns, riffs, and lyrics that made you REALLY feel something. I understand that hiphop/rap is now mainstream, and that most bands are catering to what is popular, but I really do miss the old days, and the old MMF who made aggressive music with a powerful message. This comes nothing close to their earlier work.

I’ve seen these guys 3 times and every show they’ve done hasn’t let me down. Matty Mullins is a talented vocalist. He should have talks with mike shinoda to help out linkin park. Chester bennington can’t ever be replaced but I feel Matt will do good for them. R.I.P Chester forever in my heart.

MMF will always be one of my favorite bands ever. True they don't carry their old sound and aren't near as heavy but if you aren't here to see these guys grow as amazing musicians then I'm not sure what to tell you. This song is amazing and we'll always have all of their albums to go back and listen to if we need some breakdowns and heavy riffs. xP

I’m glad I grew up loving the heaviest of shit and just Hard Rock, literally everything, Octane is like a friend to me. Since I was a kid. Thank my Dad for that. I’ve watched bands like Crown the Empire who started on having their songs in MW2 montages to being played on Octane now more than ever. You still have their old tunes too man. This tune is super good.

I haven't listened to this band since unconditional cus I didn't really like that album I was pleasantly surprised and the rap bit didn't ruin it too much for me I like the guitar part when he finishes the verse

They changed their style, or maybe because they are under Rise Records, this company just lowered their level. And they are not the only one. Even SECRETS drop down their style. This means that somethings happening. The only band that stands tall under them is Blessthefall.

It's not even about the screams for me, this album just feels uninspired.

I think this style change happened from the fact their most successful song with mainstream success is miles away, withholding similar softer rock styles with slight electronic production behind it like this track. They are just going with the method that is going to get them known at the moment, the stuff that gets on the radio stations. I dont mind it and I support them nonetheless.
