- In today's video we start modifying my BMW F30 335i for performance. I chose to go the route most people either tend to leave for last or downright neglect. These are upgrades that make your BMW more capable when increasing power but also add an extra layer of reliability.

The weird part about being a content creator is that it pays off when bad things happen. Not that I want anything bad to happen, but let's just say the engine had rod knock. Great video yet again, thinking of getting my bearings done but I don't trust these shops I am thinking of taking it to the dealership.
never thought of changing the radiator and oilcooler. got the beefy wagner intercooler, also did the boost and chargepipe, airfilter and stage 2 tune.. might do the oilcooler and radiator too.....

so you have e46 e90 and m5 content etc I really would love to see some e60 content. it is not much heavier than an e90 especially if its a convertible. seems redundant being the same n54 but there's literally hardly any e60 content on RUclips. and you make pretty good content imo the only bimmer channel I've subbed plus this shops local to me so its a win win imo.

I’m looking at a 2012 335i with the n55 engine. I’m super excited if all goes well I should get it within the next 2 weeks or so and duuuuude I just can’t wait to start the build
I think the only problem I see myself running into is finding a place that can install my mods
Looking at the csf rad for my f30 n55, mishimoto probably for the intercooler (not 100%), the mosselman thermostat , not sure about the oil cooler though yet. Obviously the charge pipes, etc

Big fan of the channel, but I disagree with what you said about radiators. They are not a failure item. I’ve owned 8 bmws in the past 5 years and never had a failure on a radiator. Maybe the upper or lower hose, but this is a pointless upgrade for people especially for the price of the upgraded CSF ones.
We had 6 different BMWs come in within the last 2 months with OEM radiators that failed, almost all of them in the same spot on the side. It was something I also commonly saw at the shop I used to partner with. I'm speaking from my experience and from Aaly's experience, someone who only works on BMWs. Glad to hear none of your cars had this particular issue.
Even if it's not a prone to fail part if the upgraded radiator cools better than stock then it's a good idea.

Bro I need some help!. I have a 2013 BMW 328i F30 M sport N20. 57k miles. UK. Exact spec as your clapper N55!
Last week I had changed the turbo oil feed line as the oil seeped into the turbo overnight & upon starting the car in the morning a puff of blue smoke would come out the exhaust - lasted around 5-10 seconds. Since replacing the oil feed line and putting the turbo back in, everything seems to work fine (no codes) but I’ve noticed I no longer get the throaty cold starts. Could this be the wastegate actuator needing adjustment?

Wish I went with CSF for my n54 vs VRSF for the intercooler. The silicon boot connection to the intercooler from the lower charge pipe kept popping off, took a VERY beefy hose clamp to finally keep it on.
Same for me. The 2 holes containing the screws are deeper than those on the OEM intercooler. So if I kept the OEM screws the joints would be weaker given the intercooler being 3 times heavier. Kinda curious why no body talked about that in videos or on forums. But I’ve seen on forum someone found his screws fixing the intercooler cracked. I didn’t experience leaking issue because some nice mechanician helped adjust the pipe. But I see the pipes are difficult to fit in without lifting the car.

My ol e92 n54 came without a oil cooler. Heat soaks after just a couple pulls..

You mentioned that the CSF radiator helped reduced your oil temps. What kind of numbers did you see on your vehicle?
Driving around central FL my oil temps were always around 230-240F°. After the Radiator upgrade 210-220F° on average. But I had also switched over to E85 around the same time.
It's harmful to keep oil temperature too low (
Love the F30 series as I have one! Currently at 91k. you should look at the AWE exhaust!

What abt the 2012 F10 550?
How high is “uncomfortably high” for oil temp? My n55 ewg kinda chills around 250°f after a moderate aggressive drive.
Sounds about right. N55s run a lot hotter than n54s (for some reason) and even larger difference compared to the b58s which have a beautiful cooling system.
Bought a 09 335i a couple months ago. Currently correcting oil leak problems, found that the oem oil cooler is leaking. Which one would you recommend for the n54 platform? Much appreciated, keep up the good work.

@@morten877 If its not going over 120 C it will be fine, a thermostat only opens early does not cool harder, so if pushing you would always reach the same temperatures only later
