Another great very informative video. I refer to them as "confidence builds", and "headache avoidance" guides for those like myself with their many certifications, shop experience, and car builds from "20 years ago" to think I can still do it, and worse to think can still work on euro cars. My twisted thoughts are more tech, more reliable, tighter spaces, but less frozen bolts, and leaks so it's win. Notice the older I get it now takes me more time to read the instructions, watch the videos, get out the right tools, and get under the car, then to do the actual jobs. 😁
Gareth is always costing me more $$$$. His high-tech LED work light is part of a product line by Astro Pneumatic Tools available on the FCP Euro website. He reviewed a smaller 400 Lumens APT LED Light on YT and is probably using his larger 450 Lumens LED light in this CSF Intercooler DIY. There are newer APT LED Light models at 500 (2-sided light), 650, 720, and 800 Lumens. The neat features include a swivel magnet on the base and a dial to vary the LED brightness, plus wireless charging for some models. There is also a cheap suction cup attachment to the magnetic swivel base to convert it so it attaches to plastic and glass non-magnetic automotive surfaces.
Umm Gareth?? What did you do with the other Gareth? lol You sir, slimmed down.. Good for you!!! Reason why I'm watching this is because, for some reason, that G20 M340 has been calling my name... lol The wife however, wants me to buy an RS3.. Or a B9.5 S4... I like the sound of a Closed Deck though.... And haven't owned a BMW since my E36 back in the 90s..
@@phiillzzz807 lol I still have my B9 S4, and was actually waiting for the updated M350?, but all we've seen is the new X3 M50(that is, if they're looking to call the m340 the M350). I test drove the rs3 but a bit sparse and small. I'm inching towards my 60s in a few years, and want something comfortable, with a little power and luxury. I have enjoyed my heated and massaging seats in my B9 S4 for sometime though lol.
You don't want to go there. Heart Transplant Surgery is easier. Take it to a BMW Indie Shop. The BMW N55 electric water pump/thermostat fail like clockwork at 60k miles. The labor is 5-6 hours, so the BMW Dealer will charge you $2500 with parts. There is also a hard rubber hose from the coolant overflow to the radiator that cracks at the extreme bend. It is a quick 2 minutes replacement and a $40 part. Get two to keep a spare hose in the car. The new B58/S58 i6 engines in several BMW models switched back to a mechanical waterpump/ thermostat.
@@nycshelbygt500 Haha I hear ya. I've seen a few other vids that aren't as thorough and it didn't seem too bad. Would love to DIY just so I can get my part warrantied and do preventative when it's time, seeing as most shops don't let you bring your own parts. How much would it be for labor at a good indie, and where are you based? I'm in Los Angeles and one of the best indies here is quoting me almost $1k for part and replacement. Plan to shop around a bit more and see.
I'm wondering if for a stock car would it be actually a performance upgrade, thinking about the weight gain 🙄. For a tuned car I can see it is worth it though.
same, i used this and kies motorsport video to help me through my intercooler, turbo inlet, and charge pipe swap and I just loosened my fan but didn’t take it out and was able to get the new intercooler in.
What did BMW ever do about their spontaneous combustion cars ? They just recalled ..wait for it, 1.03 million vehicles worldwide for fire hazard potential ??? I'm really surprised ppl are still buying into the expensive plastic car maker ? I just seen an abandoned 328 burned to death on the street, & taking an innocently parked Infinity beside it with it !! I'm sure the toy auto maker knows just how many cycles of hot & cold plastic can withstand before it's disintegration. BMW are the new Fiat of old. Lexus RC F Sport cars are looking better & better everyday!.
@@dogchainsaw3923 Your point? The fact is 1.03 MILLION is not a hiccup. It's shotty engineering. Or deliberate built in obsolescence? Take your pick. We're not talking about Hyundai which are Korean. BMW has been making automobiles for over 100 YEARS !! My very first car was a BMW bro!
Every new car uses tons of plastic including under the hood. And the risk of fire is still negligible. Can it happen? Sure. Will it happen? Probably not. Internal combustion engine cars have been catching fire for more than 100 years.
BRO YOU LOST ALOT OF WEIGHT, LOOKING GREAT
i just got a 318i 2016 bmw and im learning so much from your videos! thanks for the info and keep it simple !!
Great to hear!
Very cool. Looking sharp Gareth. Making it look easy.

I missed you Gareth. Very nice video.
More to come from G!
Es verdad, has bajado peso !! Enhorabuena, te ves genial
Can this be done without removing the fan? I’m tackling the job in my driveway on an x drive
Yea it can. Removing the fan just gives you more space to wiggle.
Here they Gereth just curious what tyres are these on this car they seem kinda kool ✌️good job

Where can I buy those Henn Clamps
Will I pass Smog if I upgrade my bmw 335i xdrive f30 intercooler & radiator & charge pipes?
Would this one fit a 528i xdrive?
Why I clean airmass sensor that gear change not smooth please answer to me
I notice with the CSF the charge pipe doesn't fit snug and has some wiggle and swivel. Is this okay? Cheers
Do i need a tune after replacing stock intercooler to this one shown? My car is otherwise stock. What happens if i dont tune?
When he said it fits the F34 had me smiling because I always worry about whether these mods will actually fit.

Always. I reach 50+ degrees Celsius IAT on pulling when it’s outside 30+. That helps a lot.
Does this fit the active hybrid 3
Same unit for n47 diesel?
I’m confused as to why the fan came out O_o

I didn't take the fan out when replacing the intercooler.
What about lag ?
Slimmed down
The guy lost some weight here!
Can you guys replace my timing chain for free? :)
22lbs! Geez
