UPDATE: I haven’t had time to pull the 12V, but the GPS is now working again. A viewer had the same issue and it would work again and then go out. Will monitor over the next few days before I put out a follow up video. Super weird!!!
Oh man it just happened to me. 2024 Equinox EV. The GPS is gone, no super cruise, and 5G Data connection through the car is gone as well which looks like you didn't have. I'm hoping it comes back soon and I will be trying out the 12v reset.
I only had that problem once in July. Held the shutdown button down like you did then when factory reset showed on the screen I selected that and it has worked ever since! I now have over 11,000 kms on my equinox and still loving it! 😊
This happened to me twice since buying my Equinox EV in June, 2024. My GPS has hopelessly not worked the last 3 days. Brought it to my dealer. Salesperson immediately noticed my OnStar button in the ceiling (by the rear view mirror) was illuminated in RED instead of GREEN. He suggested I contact OnStar, which I did immediately. It turns out it's a MODULE ERROR (Diagnostic Code U3000) and it should be a rather simple fix by a qualified Chevy/OnStar technician. Bringing my car back tomorrow morning and hoping for the best! (fingers crossed!) Just a note: The Chevy Equinox EV's GPS system, I'm told, runs independently of a connection to your phone or WiFi signal. If you're having GPS signal, check you OnStar module.
@@theaverageev UPDATE: My local Chevy dealership cancelled the error code U3000 on my OnStar and MY GPS IS WORKING BETTER THAN EVER! I'll post a short video and share soon :)
Go to google app under setting but gag go to the app and do a hard shut down. Same way what you did but do that under the app and you can also reset Waze and the colors will display right after you do a hard shut down.
I've had the same issue. It says searching for GPS on Google maps. It didn't find it the first time it happened on my 15 minute drive. On another drive it eventually found it after like 10 minutes
@@theaverageev Lets hope. I called the dealer and have an appointment for Wednesday. I also have issue of the Infotainment System loosing connection with the music and maps. But a Recovery of the system brings it back. It is a very buggy automobile.
Had that issue along with some internet issues. Waiting a day would temporarily fix it, but it still had issues from time to time. I did a factory reset and haven’t seen an issue since.
@@theaverageev are you clicking the factory reset button on the screen or still using the mute button on the steering wheel? I clicked the (right) button on the screen. You should have to setup your stuff again (it was like a clean wipe for me)
Does the car have the ability to tether to your wifi off of the phone as a work around? Is there a hard reset/reboot in the EQEV? Glad it started working again.
Mine is FWD. All equinox’s have the same battery. They charge poorly for sure. It was never going to be a super faster charging car, which is fine. But it is slower than it needs to be due to thermal issues. I have lots of charging videos out if you ever get bored! 🙃
This is amazing. Doesn't GPS stop working in tunnels? If you're in the market for a GM based vehicle, and you want lane centering, you need to get super cruise and you need to make sure GM has mapped the area and you have access to GPS. i know other vehicles have issues with cameras interference causing ADAS issues (e.g. sun on horizon) but this solution seems to be not robust. Wish you the best and please let us know how resolved. Interested in GM Honda products
🤣🤣🤣 A true first world problem that my car couldn’t drive itself while I was trying to use up the battery to do a charging video for RUclips. I know!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I have a nice house, sailboat, paid for my son's education, we travel whenever we want (Oz and NZ lately), retired at 54...I owned an automotive shop for 25 years...God bless GM and their shitty vehicles.

Did your Super Cruise come back as well? I imagine Super Cruise is dependent on a working GPS system.
@@TheRealLaughingGravy it did! I am hoping it was a weird one off thing. Going to monitor and see if it happens again. Really weird!

@@Richard.Tremblay It has not happened again! I will try and do a video. I have been swamped lately.

I'm kinda surprised that cars with huge tech inside like EV doesn't have some kind of hard reboot bottom.

Thanks for sharing! Fortunately no issues since for me, but if it happens again I can direct them better about what is happening!

Thanks for sharing! It’s working again now. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again 🤞🏻
Same here this morning. No GPS but music. Tried the recovery/reset routine. This a really buggy infotainment system, So frustrating!!!!
It cleared the next day for me! Hoping the same for you. It hasn't happened since. Very strange bug... But honestly the only major issue I've had.

Sorry you are having a problem. I will wait for the update and the fix.
You did it Mary you lead in EV'S! don't worry simple over the air update lol!
😬
Sorry to hear you’re having these issues. If only Chevy allowed for CarPlay, it wouldn’t be an issue.
I mean yeah… but also if just worked it wouldn’t be an issue 🤣. All Cars have issues so it’s whatever, just really inconvenient for now.
This isn't a software issue but a hardware problem. Carplay wouldn't work either.

I thought I did a factory reset, but will try again! Maybe I did it wrong?
I tried again and no luck... Not sure if I am doing it incorrectly.

I believe so, I have heard of reviewers using their phone hotspots.
There is a hard reset, it didn't work unfortunately.
Did you try disconnecting your 12 volt battery for 5 minutes? That fixed my Chevy Bolt EUV when my radar cruise control stopped working.
12v battery disconnect fixes 90% of issues like this. I would be interested in knowing if he tried it as well.
It’s pronounced as WAY-Z. Not wise. 🤣🤣🤣
Ahahahaha. Our home camera system is Wyze and I ALWAYS mix up their names. Whoops!
@@theaverageev I was wondering where you got that from. Lol. That’s hilarious.😂
Mine did exactly like yours yesterday, I tried the reset and it didn't work. This morning everything was back to normal.
My USB port stopped working - it chargers, but no data. Anyone experiencing similar issues?
The resolution is car play!
Gee. If only you had CarPlay. :-)
Is your model awd?? I'm seeing other RUclipsrs, like Tom at State of Charge, complaining about lack of charging speeds on the Equinox EV.

Well you can just use CarPlay? Oh wait.....
🙃
Now u know why they stopped using car play… it makes u depending on them
Is your XM radio working?
It happened yo me once. Just wanted out 😂
Super Bummer.
Not good GM tech issues don't give me confidence in their products
