    Great overview! a couple notes from thousands of miles with 1st gen Super Cruise:
    I noticed driving my Bolt EUV on I-68 in the mountains that when ACC or SC is engaged, regen is limited to 10 kW and any further braking is blended with friction braking. This may not matter in regular traffic but could hit your range when traversing big elevation changes. Don't know if Equinox is similar.
    At Y type lane splits, the car does have some logic about which way to go, based on the direction with higher traffic volume or thru traffic. It won't always keep left. This only comes into play rarely with left exits, but the pre-mapping does direct behavior in a limited fashion. It doesn't currently follow your route if Google maps is active though

    Wife's Subaru will hold acc in traffic which is nice. I had a rental car once that would change speeds as speed limits would change, that was nice.

    I drive from Frederick to Jessup every day in a Subaru and use Eyesight on 3 bars. I only bump it down to 1 when I am in stop and go traffic on 32.

    Also, in stop-and-go traffic with adaptive cruise control, when stopped, put your foot on the brake, activate cruise control, and it will set to 15 mph or more if you choose and creep with traffic. You do need to hit resume if you come to a complete stop. This is nice in slow-moving traffic in town.

    Would you be able to make a video on the gap distance and what is looks like? For example with one other vehicle in front and you behind that car, in a parking lot or a county road. What the distance would be in feet? Also I love your videos on this EV.

    Very valuable information. So are you confirming that Super Cruise subscription can be stopped and started at any time, without any penalty or additional fees? We don't need to drive on highways at all on our day to day drives. We drive on highways only during our twice a year road trips. Don't mind paying for SC for 2 months every year. So we would ideally start the subscription before going on our road trip and stop it after returning.

    Thanks for the video. Good video. A couple of questions. Since you've had VW ID4 can you compare a few features: lane change and road sign awareness. Does super cruise follow road sign like speed limit. For the few that will go from ID4 to GM like honda Prologue or Acura ZDX ASpec what features are different. I can't find info about park assist on HONDA/ACURA EVs. Thanks again

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  3 месяца назад

      I would say both cars are very competent at lane changes and road sign awareness. The lan change assist is only with Super Cruise equipped vehicles, whereas all ID.4s have it. Super cruise speed is set by the driver, it does not adjust to speed limits.
      The big difference between ID.4 and the GM/Honda/Acura vehicles is that ID.4 has lane centering at any time, the others have no lane centering, except for the GM products and upper trim Acura with Super Cruise when it is activated. Aside from that most of the features are similar. I will be doing an ID.4 vs Equinox video eventually.
      Honda does not have auto park assist, but Acura does on the Type S trim.

      @@theaverageevso if you have a car with super cruise but not in a super cruise mapped road, does ACC have lane centering ability?

      @@theaverageev initial dealer build sheet have been circulating for a couple of days now. Its slightly more simple for awd as it can be a option on many of the lower priced packaged models. But how that translates to the consumer end is hard to say as dealers configs can be slightly more configurable.

    If you have both ACC and super cruise with the lane centering feature, what if you did not have supercruise turned on and only ACC turned on, would it allow hands free?

    Having tested FSD from Tesla, will Supercruise recognizes traffic lights and stop signs? Does it work with Google maps to guide it? From your description it seems more just like a lane centering system with adaptative cruise control and lane changing (like the Toyota safety sense 3.0) which is a bit of a disappointment for that much money.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  3 месяца назад +1

      It is nothing like FSD. It keeps you in the lane and adjusts to traffic. It will not read signs and adjust speed at this point in time.
      I'm hoping they can update the functionality over time. I don't mind that it isn't AI, but it would be nice to have the features like recognizing traffic light, stop signs, speed limits, and yes even lane centering when not on premapped roads.

      @@theaverageev It would be so much more helpful if SuperCruise could give a warning chime and buzzed the seat when we drive towards a red light or stop sign and our foot is not on the brake.

    When in adaptive CC was the car picking up on the speed limit? It looked like you were spending a lot of time toggling the speed up and down with your thumb. Normally I just set my car to drive five or ten over and then let the camera adjust the speed. Only issue then is construction zones. The car loves to slam on the brakes for construction zones that are not active.

    outside of tesla super cruise is the best system compared to all rivals. However it is absolutely absurd that it costs thousands extra to add on and then requires a subscription to keep active. Most competitors have the same features (except the ability to keep hands off indefinitely) for free, standard on all trims. that is exactly the reason lane trace assist isn't standard on chevy, because then what would be the point of super cruise?

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  3 месяца назад +1

      I agree it should be included on all vehicles and then you choose to activate it.

    My wife and I just picked up our 2RS Equinox EV two days ago and took a 189 mi road trip. ACC and Supercruise as well as Lane Keep Assist wouldn't work. The DIC has a yellow collision icon lit up under the D symbol. Dealer said it was a software issue that was common on 2024 EVs. We get a message telling us that Supercruise is temporarily unavailable. Anyone hear or have the same issue? They told us to bring the car back for calibration. Thx.
