DIY IKEA BUILT IN HACK: How To Turn The Gersby Bookcase Into Built-ins For Your Home
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 июн 2024
- This video is all about how I created custom built ins using the IKEA GERSBY bookcase. I know the IKEA BILLY is a fan favorite for this type of project but I had limiting dimensions in my room caused by a perpendicular closet that I was not in the mood to close off, so I decided to try the smaller GERSBY. I had about 10 inches of space to work with on the right wall and the Gersby is 9.5 inches deep where as the Billy is 11. The depth of the bookcase was perfect, though I did struggle to add some height. Ultimately, I think they turned out AMAZING!! This video is a mini “how to” but I have much more detailed content that I may release in a three-part VLOG series. Let me know in the comments if that is something that actually interests you.
I lied in the video 👀
My first step actually wasn’t removing the baseboards. I started this project by watching 100 youtube videos and tutorials. I’ll include the most helpful videos in the description box and within the cards of this video.
While I was watching, I compiled a list of common tools used to complete this project and purchased them over several weeks. As I plan to install molding in several rooms and possibly will be doing built ins in the living room, it was worth the investment. I’ve linked all the tools below.
I really hope you find this video helpful, and I’m here in the comments to answer any additional questions you may have!
xoxo

I kinda wish there was more reveal at the end, maybe in the future you could do a bookshelf tour?!?! That would be great!
That’s a great idea! I’m planning to do a styling video soon so I’ll make sure to incorporate more footage of the whole bookcase.

Thank you!! It’s a random pair of pajamas I bought on a trip when I forgot mine. I looove them and wear them all the time. But truly random, I think they’re from JC Penny outlet 😂
Nice. You should paint the upper insides as well
Thank you!! I thought about that. I wanted to see how I liked the natural wood first and it turns out I love it.
Awesome job! Can you tell me what and where you got the beautiful paper for the back of the shelves please?
Thank you! I got it from Amazon. It’s sold out there, but still available at Anthropologie liketk.it/4rt7n?product=6a97c707-a502-11ee-988e-0242ac110003

❤❤
Thanks!!
Good video, one complaint. I would like to see a good clear final picture of the project. there is a brief final picture, but it is covered by suggestions for the next video to watch
Excellent point! I will definitely keep that in mind for future videos.
Can you come do my DIY?
Haha you’ll definitely want a professional!
Beautiful job! 🌸🌸🌸Congratulations! 🌸🌸🌸Ima bite😀🌸
Thank you!! Haha please do!
Girl math?? Is that seriously a term? You're nailing the project though
Haha it was trending when I made this video. Thank you!!
What’s “girl” math? Lol I guess I use that if it’s what I think it is.
Haha in this context I think of it as getting the job done with as few tools as possible. If I can eyeball it or use my arms to measure, I’m not pulling out the measuring tape 😂
Adding real wood to particleboard is not gonna go well. Many of these Ikea bookcase hacks turn out terrible after a while
Hmm it’s done pretty good for 8 months and I’m always down for a new project if it goes south.
Lol love your profile picture btw 😂
The back music is louder than your voice also it was wrong one . Very annoying
That sucks! I have a mic now so hopefully better next time.
