    Graphic tees are the entry-level piece most brands start with, but it's very very easy to get lost in the fray when you approach your brand in that way. I've always appreciated well-constructed clothing as opposed to yet another graphic tee Instagram brand.

    • @justusgreen8498
      @justusgreen8498 4 года назад +12

      You have to understand it is a way of many things. Firstly, can you even do the simplest thing and promote a t shirt. That’s one step. Another thing is it can sell quickly and bring in income. Some people would sell maybe one or two t shirts. But if they are serious about the brand those graphic t shirts will be on the bottom of the totem pole of the entirety of the brand. They’re not deemed unworthy or ugly pieces they just help getting funds to get the real products shown. It’s just business.

I genuinely can’t stand behind some overplayed message talking about ‘connecting the world’ be ‘on the wildside’ don’t ‘play by the rules’. Bruh, it’s a shirt. Ya but here's the thing, everybody thinks theyre a designer today because they put some stupid graphics on a shirt and do absolutely nothing else. It's so easy to just go on a stupid blanks site and put some stupid shit on them and try to sell them. Sound familiar? Oh right every single youtuber that makes any sort of traction. The real designers that work their ass off have to continually struggle to get their shit across, to get their shit respected, to get their shit realized, while these others can just cop out and make utter trash that the world DOES NOT NEED!!! It's frustrating seeing trash after trash after trash that is continually produced and is continually polluting our world but being sold to people who have no idea what fashion is. Yet those that actually put in the work and develop a theme and develop a brand, like mentioned already, struggle and struggle.

    • @THECASUALco
      @THECASUALco  4 года назад +2

      There's a story here that we can elaborate on. But as a quick note, there are more and more individuals in the YT sphere that are doing way better work than in the past. It's important to remember as well that "merch" is different from "brand" (while I'm sure you know the difference).
      The issue here is that the world has changed considerably. There's a reason that a seasoned designer like Keller gets replaced by Williams at Givenchy.
      Fashion has ALWAYS been about the most notable and breakouts. Its just know the medium has changed, that being social media a la RUclips. Some individuals, like myself, are trained in design, and took years of vocational study but found the only way to pursue their fashion dreams is to take an alternative route.
      The point is to understand the stories of individuals before we cast judgement. Yes, admittedly, there are plenty of nonsensical BS out there but we gotta weed out the amazing with the terrible. That's how fashion has always been.

    That's not true, it's good to hear what's bad constructively, too many yesmen in this industry have done some seriously damage. I mean, just look at Heron and IBN

    When you said ethnic inspired brands I immediately thought of Bode and StoryMFG. Both heavily inspired by Indian culture and yet worn by everyone so... I don’t see your point at all. Using a certain culture as inspiration doesn’t mean only those people should or will buy it

      Did you actually hear the caveat or see the second part of the video? Literally explained what you just wrote here.

      THE CASUAL just finished the video. Sorry for the comment, I was wrong. But, that being said, I don’t see why you wouldn’t talk about the caveats right after stating the theme. Also the idea of this video doesn’t make a lot of sense. I’m a fan of the channel but I think this type of video is not for me.

    So your goal is to appeal to everybody without being generic? Good luck with that. No subculture brand tried to be like this and just became popular because the mainstream wanted to be like these brands and the people who wore it. So how about be yourself, speak to your people and let them be the ambassadors of the brand. Your sketchbook way of "designing a brand" seems super lame and at its core mediocre to me. The result is typical "Live Fast Die Young" f*ckboi fashion.
