Sweet vid and heaps of tips.. from this I see I definitely try to cut corners on the beginning stages of the design process and reduce the amount of time I provide to laying the foundations. At the time when you're eager to get something down and the ball rolling it is easy to get into the trap of thinking these initial steps are unnecessary or even a waste of time.
The T-shirt that John Santos is wearing in this video is actually very nice - the colour and shape suits his complexion and is very figure flattering. It's quite rare to see a man wearing a garment that his casual yet so stylish.

Make your designs stand out in some way then people will be looking for your work. You won't even have to notify anyone.
