I'd buy the Ford if only because of the more comfortable seats. The lighter interior as well especially for the summer. They are just harder to keep clean.
Taking the FEP over the Tahoe HC... Interior and tech is nicer in Ford. Love the twin Turvo v6. Better handling. Have test driven each multiple times. I'm sold on the Platnium...
JB...Good review. Actually, we are looking at the off road Timberline and Z71 version of both of what you tested. We liked them both. I agree on the styling hands down on the GM for the win but everything else we preferred the Ford Timberline. I also noticed if you check the option box there is a higher output v6 turbo with more power and torque which I believe was powering your tester?? What I did notice that drastically improved traction but more so handling was "Control-Trac with Electronic limited slip differential" A 1500.00 option. JB check to see if that was on your tester. Keep up the great reviews, we look forward to them.
The Platinum trim level on the Expedition comes with 440 HP and 510 ft/lbs of torque. I bought a new Expedition in January and love it. It takes a while to get used to all of the controls accessed through a touch screen...it's a bit harder to use than buttons. The steering response is great, but the feel is vague..just like you said. My only gripe is that Ford does not offer a HUD. I had it on my Yukon Denali and my wife's Palisade Calligraphy has it, so I've gotten used to having it.
@@raulcrod That's a huge fear of mine. The screen has gone blank a few times on me since I've owned it. It's a simple reset of holding down two buttons on the steering wheel for five seconds, and the reset has worked every time. (knock on wood). I know at one point it will stop working and the reset won't work. It will be when I'm 500 miles from home. LOL
JB you can set up the cooling heating seat to come on per temperature. My wife hated the her 2021 Tahoe. We traded it in for a expedition. She loves it. And so did I. I towed like a monster. Ended up trading my 2018 Dodge 1500 on a 2023 f150 the power of the 3.5L TT is stupid lol.
Nice comparison! GMs big SUVs are hard to beat. After living with my F-150 for a few months now I still despise the Tri-tone chime ford uses! If they ever drop that chime I might actually consider buying one with my own money.
Diesel has too much emissions equipment and got to worry about the DPF getting clogged IMHO. That and DEF. I do like the way the Eco-Boost brings a smile to your face.
In the Chevy yes the vented seat come on automatically but then they go off. Living in Texas I always have to cycle them all the way through to prevent it from going off. It’s pretty annoying.
I want to trading my limited f150 for a full size suv, need more seating capacity, but I’m not sure which to choose, the Chevy got better exterior design, the Ford better interiors😃
if you are looking for big and roomy the tahoe interior cargo volume is unmatched and the 3rd row seat on the tahoe can seat a full size adult comfortably.. in other words the 3rd row is actually useable and not just for kids lol and although the expedition has a more powerful and fun engine.. those twin turbos are a ticking time bomb.. and that has nothing to do with ford turbos just go bad no matter what its just a matter of time and you can't just swap them out and you are tlaking thousands to pay for new ones and get it done.. so in other words the tahoe is more diy frienly for people that like to work on their own cars like myself.. the only reason i'm waiting to get a tahoe is in hopes the price will drop and the infotainment screen will be raised to 12 inches like alot of other new cars..
I'm DEFINITELY Going with the Chevy. I just like the layout for the driver area. Not too sure about the sun roof though. A lot of complaints about them leaking. So I'll option out of that i think
I got a Tahoe over an Expedition. I also have an Explorer so I love my Ford but the Tahoe fit my family needs better. I haven’t had any issues with my sunroof but I think both vehicles are a win!
I bought a brand new 2022 Suburban with the 3L diesel engine, and I'm quite pleased with its excellent fuel consumption. However, during a car show in Vancouver this spring of 2024, I was surprised to discover that the third-row seats they recline, a feature that doesn't exist in the Chevy model. Additionally, I noticed that the diesel engine is louder at high revs compared to the Expedition. Overall, I find the seating comfort better in the Ford, especially with the presence of headrests in the last row compared to the Chevy. I also prefer the lower nose and overall appearance of the Ford. However, I must admit that the quality of the 360-degree camera view is superior in the Chevy compared to the Ford, although this is something I can overlook. I'm also considering the 2022 facelift on the Ford for the nicer headlights and dashboard screen, despite knowing that it will increase my fuel consumption by 30%. However, as this is for a transportation business, providing the best comfort for my clients is my priority. While some may opt for the Escalade or Lincoln for a 40% higher cost, I find that the extra expense for the badge alone isn't justified based on my clientele's charges. Therefore, I'm seeking an honest opinion from you all-should I keep my Suburban for a few more years or switch to the Expedition Max? Thank you
I would never make a purchase based off of the information someone gives me in a video. The most important thing for me is comfort so before I ever make a purchase I will have sat in many vehicles many many times and calculate how quickly it takes me in each vehicle to achieve my comfort position behind the steering wheel. Everything else is secondary to that. I did have the F-150 diesel and I got upwards of 26 miles per gallon and I loved it but with diesel a lot of times being twice the price of normal gas it's not worth getting just a couple extra miles per gallon not to mention the maintenance and additional fluids you need in the vehicle
Very Helpful review. I would like your opinion on the ride and handling comfort too. We are shopping and comparing between the Expedition Max and the Suburban. We currently Own a 2012 Expedition EL XLT 4x4 with 160K, and owned several Chevy suburbans in the late 90's and early 2000's that all lasted over 200K. We agree with you that the lighter interior options in the Ford are fantastic. We also found the Ford Seats are much wider and more comfortable, my wife who is fairly petite complains that the chevy seats dig into her hips where the ford does not (ford seats are considerably wider and softer) Interestingly the passenger front seat in the chevy is narrower than the driver seat. This is a big miss on Chevy's part IMHO, and ultimately the buying decision could come down to this for us. I rented 2023 models of both for several days. We found the Ford to be significantly louder at highway speeds, I measured 85dB average over 400 miles. It was so loud, my wife and I had a difficult time having a conversation. Of course this changes with different road surfaces, We tested on I-75 to I-95 from Tampa - Miami and back which generally has course road surfaces. The Suburban was noticeably quieter, I measured 81db average over the same route. I also noticed that the Ford will bounce a little more and bump recovery was not as precise as the chevy. The Expedition feels "light" and maybe more nimble, where as the to Me, the Suburban feels heavier and built more solid. Over-all I prefer Chevy for ride quality and handling, controls are easier and more intuitive, I find the steering wheel more comfortable with better button layout, where the Ford button layout is busy and has "sharper" uncomfortable edges while turning with a finger against them. The room behind the 3rd row is much larger in the Chevy too. I see a lot of Suburbans with over 200K miles on the market, and only a few Expeditions with over 150K, which makes me wonder if the turbo engine is less reliable than the V8? For me I am leaning over-all toward the chevy, but it is coming down to seat comfort for my wife. Do I attempt to add insulation to make the Ford Quieter, or do I attempt to modify the passenger seat to make it more comfortable??? It is a tough choice because both are excellent vehicles. What would you do???
Unless not equipped because of the chip shortage, that 6.2l will have DFM - "updated versions of the proven 5.3L and 6.2L V-8s with Dynamic Fuel Management. This industry-first cylinder deactivation technology enables the engines to operate in 17 different cylinder patterns to optimize power delivery and efficiency."
I don't know if it was just me, it looked like you had just that little bit more arm room in the chev. I prefer the chev more. Like you said JB, less is more. Less buttons, the touch pad was a better layout than the ford. The chev has a better looking exterior. I'm not fussed on turbo charges. The turbo's go (stop working) then it's an expensive fix.
Do these new Tahoes still get the nonsensical AFM? I owned one GMT 900 from new and that dropped lifters twice in the 10 years I owned it. Ever since I sold it last year I downsized to an Explorer ST as the cost of these brand new big rigs was wayyy too much.
Been shopping these two. Honestly prefer the GMC over the Chevy. Either way the GM’s are essentially the same vehicle. Ford is ugly in my opinion and no Ford dealers around us want to negotiate. MSRP is a deal on a Ford. However I would challenge you to double check your info on cylinder deactivation or dynamic fuel management. Both the 5.3 and the 6.2 are listed as having that on the website. Personally I’m hoping your correct but can you confirm. I just double checked and they are listed. Thanks for all the vids. Keep them coming Edit - GM did away with the AFM and went back to DFM. It’s my understanding it will still run on 4 cylinders. Please confirm
Don’t forget that Ford is the recall king plus GM knows how to make a way nicer car and they’re more tried and true American. Just pure V8s and no turbo nonsense.

I disagree. The Platinum has 400hp. The 440 is only in the timberline and stealth performance pkg 304a expeditions.
@@chrishelms5831 You're right! I would have sworn that I read somewhere that the Platinum trim had 440 hp. (it should, for the price, at least!)
As it is the top line it should have 440 instead of limited stealth!
its neat to have the controls on your touchscreen but you better pray your screen never breaks lol

Chevy should be embarrassed by that infotainment screen in a high country...the Expedition and the Denali looks far superior.
Ford is really messing up their front ends across their lineup. Everything else on them is pretty damn good.

Is it good?
I have a 2020 f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost i get 22 to 23 mpg on the highway city i get 16 to 18 as long i keep my foot out of the turbo's
Platnium crashes the GMC and Chevy w payload and tow capacities.
Done in style...
hate having to get a sunroof. i just wonder how many leak or make noise??

Fords first forever and always
Tahoe for sure now need cargo van comparison transit and express
Should have put the Chevy in Sport Mode when doing your acceleration test?
Ford also has a sport mode
I mainly with like the comfort and for them to be able to adjust the speed a few tabs more
I would buy the ford
Expedition > Tahoe
Great review . . . addresses common sense and everyday use/needs Not in market, but great review thnx
I’d pick the Tahoe with the Duramax I-6
Hey JB reviews can you review the new Toyota tundra trd pro sport package soon I would like to see the video soon on your channel.

You voiding warranty on a 80k vehicle?
@@zimks Ford Performance offers the tune. If done by factory mechanic warranty is retained.

When you go 0-60 on ford it takes a lot of gas. But on Chevy 0-60 you got fule back to gas tank and engine work on air😂. Put 7 people in and do 0-60

Tahoe looks so much better
Expedition is 440HP/ 510 tq.
I own that Tahoe… sooo.. Tahoe it is. 🤙🏻
Same 😆
The Chevy for the v8
For what reason? The Ford V6 tows almost 1k lbs more

Take the Ford. Less problems
I’m taking the chevy and there is nothing you can do about it. I’m sticking to that tried and true V8.
No. You won’t.
chevy all the way
Definitely the Tahoe would be my pick. Especially, with that baby Duramax.
I love the ford, but in my eyes Chevy is more american just because of the V8.
0 to 90 mpg
Your late on the gas when doing 0-60 times because the ford goes 0-60 in around 5.7 to 6 seconds not 8
He’s at 4500 ft above sea level . Those tests are done at sea level. A 6.2 Tahoe does 0-60 in 5.7 secs at sea level . They’d be in a dead heat
Ford. Stay away from GM. Beautiful but more issues than Ford. It’s annoying.

Yeah at least the ford won’t be sitting in the shop at 2500 miles after all the electrical in the truck shuts down while driving…
