Man I haven’t even seen the movie yet but from all the promotional videos I much adored Gamma 2 compared to Gamma 1. A shame that he passed but a very poetic end to a superhero’s good deed.

Cause it's not the same cell. It's meant to be a highly volatile monster that can't think for itself. It was the perfect contrast to Gohan beast form.
What's crazy about Saiyans having a growth spurt is that Gohan gets considerably taller from when he's 9 years old (almost 10, really) to when he's 11. Training that intensely in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in such adverse conditions may have triggered him to grow a bit
Or its just inconsistent for Hybrid saiyans. Would make sense to me, especially given that Gohan was born with a tail but Goten and Trunks seemingly weren't, for example.

Ok, last one but 7:11 I could always see that Vegeta respected Jiren. It doesn't matter if wanting to defeat an opponent makes it seem like you don't respect them. They both acknowledge their great qualities after seeing each other fight. After Vegeta first challenged Jiren, he finally gave us an answer to his pride, and for Jiren he believed in the strength of solitude and how unbreakable his defenses were and they both have seen how far their beliefs took each other

The slice of life in dragon ball are one of the best things that they can show us fans. Obviously fanservice is first when it comes to forms and power ups but slice of life is needed for shonen anime that are mainly fighting strong guys.
Same here, its one of the main reasons I like DB and I'm fatigued on new forms at this point, more excited to see Piccolo use giant form and Gohan using the special beam cannon.

So far for Dokkan I’m hearing 4 potential new piccolo units. Piccolo base, piccolo potential unleashed, orange piccolo and giant form orange piccolo. Then Gohan new form
Kinda hoping for piccolo's case it might be a Piccolo (Potential Unleashed) transforms into Orange Piccolo and then has a giant form mode into giant orange Piccolo. That's the best case scenario I can think of although I would like to see a f2p potential unleashed piccolo and then a banner unit orange Piccolo with giant form mechanic to go with Final Gohan.

Excited to see Piccolo, Pan and Gohan in the spotlight, sounds like the humour will be fun with Bulma's wishes, Pan getting "kidnapped", and Fat Gotenks. I'm assuming the "he's learning as he fights" is done like DBS where its a sudden switch up in the fight rather than Gamma 2 adapting to Piccolo's abilities but still hope the fights are really fun. Same thing with Gohan doing his whole can't do ultimate anymore and not training.
Orange Piccolo might be the laziest new form yet somehow but getting giant Piccolo is great (wish he used laser eyes as well). Shame Cell doesn't talk considering its one of the main reasons I like him. Never cared for Gohan getting a new form and seems like they were just going for ssj2 nostalgia but the way you described the transformation scene sounds exciting. Gohan doing the special beam cannon though has me hyped (would've loved a new technique but this is still great).

I'm a little dissapointed that the film just kind of becomes the Cell Saga 2 BUT I'm sure the quality of the film makes up for it so I'm still excited.
I'm also just going to assume this new "Final Gohan" is some insane fusion of his ultimate form and Super Saiyan by him breaking through his limiters, which has been a huge recurring thing in Super. Idk, though. I do like how everybody seems to have their own forms now, though. It makes everybody a bit more unique.
I've also seen the scene of Final Gohan vs Max Cell and I have to very strongly disagree with it being anywhere near Broly's level of animation. It looks good, yeah, but it isn't really anything crazy or gamebreaking.
I watched it yesterday, and i think it was a fun movie that lives off the Nostalgia factor. Gohan's new form and his sudden Regain of his peak strength don't make sense to me, it felt very forced. Happy for Piccolo though, his powerup was long overdue and makes sense . And DBS Broly is better in every way, be it story, animations, fights ,characters or The Holy Soundtrack. People will rate it correctly only when the hype settles down

So this takes place after the moro arc from the sounds of things as it explains why gohan didn't use this form prior. In terms of power this is definitely the strongest we've seen Gohan by a landslide. However, I don't believe he has surpassed goku and vegeta. Toriyama stated that "gohan is the strongest, or so its said" heavily implying that he could be but isn't. I definitely believe he's now up there with ui blue goku or blue vegeta. Regarding the granolah arc in super, I personally believe that gohan has fallen off the rankings a tiny bit, with ui mastered goku, ue vegeta, granolah and gas now being the four strongest. Maybe next arc they'll dive into this but Akira does still play a part in writing the story of super so he was more than aware of this during the writing of this recent arc.
Also gohan stans don't murder me, these are just my perspectives, gohan isn't goku and that's my main reason for why he isn't gonna be stronger, cuz it's the goku and vegeta show, which realistically means they're gonna be stronger, no matter how many power levels you throw at me
Whatever, but to me it's such bs gohan gets so powerful this easily. Stopped training for years while goku and Vegeta trained a the time, God form blue form and beyond and then gohan gets angry and becomes as powerful as a ssj blue? Nahh

@@CuionX That's not really a "Gohan specific" special trait though. The reason he has so much potential was literally explained, it's not simply "he has more potential just because". He has all the potential of the saiyans to rapidly grow and has their raw physical and spiritual power while having the emotional balance and intelligence of a human. He's a hybrid between the two.
Which is why I don't understand why he's treated as "the one who's got way more potential than even Goku and Vegeta" and yet they never seem to treat Goten and Trunks the same way, not even Future Trunks, and they're also hybrids. Hell, all 3 should have *even more* potential than Gohan. They were conceived when Goku and Vegeta were way stronger and already Super Saiyans, and then at the ages of 7 and 8 the kids easily went Super Saiyan themselves and learned to fight way quicker than Gohan. Kid Trunks and Goten had a massive headstart over him _and they actually like to fight;_ and Future Trunks went through a lot of shit that was arguably 10x worse and more traumatizing than anything Gohan had to endure, which goes back to the whole emotions thing - and he's also a lot more willing to fight like the kids are. It feels so bizarre that they kinda just ignore that, lol

@@kindadumb916 Thing is they weren't just *physically* stronger. It wasn't "these guys gained a little bit more muscle"; they were Super Saiyans. Not to mention this is the same series where an artificial lifeform created from the cells of some warriors meant that it possessed all of their unique ki signatures at once, inherited some of their personalities as well as all their special traits and abilities such as namekian regeneration, and somehow knew all their techniques. Just because it was made up of their cell samples. That's not how that would work in real life either, lol.
This is fiction. The whole "an incredibly strong being has a baby who is also born really strong even if it was made with a much weaker species/person" thing is a common trope. Two individuals that are stronger than the rest of their people having a baby, or an alien who's ridiculously powerful having a baby with a normal ass human, will almost always result in the baby being born very strong too.
You have an example of that very thing in Vegeta. He was born to the king and queen of the saiyans and was already a "super elite warrior" that was said to have surpassed his father as a child. Low class warriors like Bardock and Gine reproducing on the other hand, made Goku and Raditz - two more low class warriors who were basically garbage for the saiyans. The big difference here between Vegeta's parents and Goku & Raditz's parents is power level. And again, Goten was born with WAY more power and potential than Gohan. He was a 7 year-old Super Saiyan by the beginning of the buu saga and stated to be on the level of frieza saga Super Saiyan Goku, *and* Trunks was slightly stronger than him - 7 year-old Gohan literally does not even compare.
So... since 21 is canon... Can Shallot be next please 😖

They become back up support characters either not being able to tap into these forms or for the forms to be outclassed so Goku and Vegeta can stay on top in this.
You have to remember that this is a while after super but not at the end of z. At the end of Z pan is 4-5 years old. here she is 3 If I'm remembering correctly on what goresh said. we'll probably see these forms much later in the series unless we get a time skip.

I just saw it myself and my god man, when I heard Gohan start to say Makankosappo instead of Kamehameha I nearly died. It looked incredible!
Entire movie sounds way better than i thought. Story sounds amazing. Only thing im sad about is Cell Max being a kaiju sized villain with no dialogue. Makes sense because he was unfinished but still.

I was debating if I really wanted too hear the spoilers but after learning what happens with gohan with his new transformation im very hyped gohans always been my favourite and I felt something special was going too happen.
14:15 I don’t think he lost the ability, he was just infuriated to the point he powered up. Notice how Gohan doesn’t go SSJ2 at all in the movie. Even versus Cell, Gohan first powers up to SSJ; he has to replenish his energy with a sensu before unleashing his potential again. From this, I’d assume its more likely Gohan’s lack of training made it harder to sustain his Ki for these forms. He’s even surprised when he depowers from the Final mode. This is just my interpretation, I’m enjoying your review so far.
Also, 14:39 I don’t think Gamma 1 was equal to Gohan. Ultimate Gohan was shrugging off Gamma 1’s attacks easily and concluded their fight in a weird headlock lol. It seems like Gohan just wanted to pacify, not hurt them.
Gohan deadass said "My glasses! I can't see without my glasses!", movie is great
It makes me sad that Cell Max is just a voiceless monster, it just makes him more like Bio Broly than Perfect Cell.

@@chuviis3508 yeah the fact that they explained it & it seems as though this is supposedly another being based on Cell (leaving the door open for a Perfect Cell Max in the future) is also a good way to explain it away. But I just wanted that witty Bastard back.

It's crazy that how advanced the Dragonball Earth world already is, they still haven't figured out space travel to the degree that aliens are still considered dangerous and unknown, that Capsule corp is colluding with them. While they're out there making Androids that surpassed every saiyan and even SSJ back then.

You've triggered some pretty fond memories of mine from when I was a kid (like 4 or 5) and I'd ask my dad to describe the Godzilla movies he saw while he was visiting Japan(I couldn't watch them as we didn't own them yet) and he'd stop whatever he was doing, sit me down and proceed to tell me what happened in the movie in as much detail as he believed my young mind could handle.

I got a chance to watch the live stream you were on with Geekdom 101 a few days ago. When he said that you were actually going to see the movie in Japan on the day it was released to the public I checked out your RUclips channel and subscribed. Being a long-time Dragon Ball fan and having watched the English version of the series from the beginning since I was 10 or 11 years old I can tell you that I am super hyped for this movie. It totally makes sense that the dragon would give piccolo a free upgrade, because it's nakemian, that's pretty cool and iv been wa ting piccolo to get some kinda upgrade.
I don't know why everyone's trying to avoid spoilers since most of these characters are either gonna come on dokkan or on legends so you're pretty much fucked either way

Yeah it's completely pointless especially considering theres not a worldwide release. After all this time they still haven't learned that people are gonna be spoiled if there's even a week between releases. Its damn near inevitable even if you avoid the internet
