- What a great combination - The New 2022 Toyota Camry, now with the much acclaimed 40 percent thermal efficiency 2.5 liter engine, 209 PS, 253 Nm of torque, coupled with an 8-speed auto transmission, three driving modes including a Sports Mode, and Paddle Shifters too.
Not what you would expect in an 'uncle car'. Yes, the Toyota Camry has finally come of age, and this is possibly the best Camry I have ever seen, and now it is certainly the best Camry I have taken up the mountain.
Now with the fact the the continental cars are getting so expensive, the Camry, priced at RM199k offers a pretty good bang per buck.
Notwithstanding the great performance specs, the interior is more premium and is slanted towards the 'towkay' types.
Of course the Camry would not be a car you would buy as a 'weekend' car to go mountain climbing, but if you do take it out with your friends, you won't be left behind by very much - the TNGA platform with the trailing arm wishbones at the rear , and the 18-inch tyres provides excellent driving dynamics, while remaining super-composed throughout the journey.
Anyway, you all know why we still take this car, and many others that are not normally known to be performance cars on to this route - it is because this is one of the best ways to shake down the car and find weak spots, if any.
Besides that, it is also much fun, hahaha.

Wow ... At 70, Mr Khong can still easily outraced those boy racers with fancy cars with his excellent driving and rallying skills, good eyesight, and coordination. It takes a lot of guts to drive like him. There is still no one who can compete with him for the run to the top of Genting.

This is the correct way to review a car. We want to know how the car handles when driven to its extreme and what the engine is capable of. We are paying for the engine and the technology not how beautiful or how well the trimming looks. Keep up the good work.

The new Camry sound proof looks like very very good, 6-7k rpm still quite silent in cabin. Power and handling nothing to complaint.

Just like my older days driving up there with my Ae111 manuel to work back in 2005. Very family with the road. Just need be careful with some users un-experiences users eating our lane when cornering especially during raining days like this video.

Nice work la Mr. Khong. All these civic rices think they are fast. Pick up they can keep up but there is no replacement for displacement. The new Camrys double wishbone is no match for an ordinary multi link on a civic. But credits to your superb driving skills as well. If only you had a back camera. Curious to see how far they were left behind haha

While the engine power is up,the gear ratio although 8 speed,its ratio looks bad,really made for comfort it seems....
This is not a performance car. This is a premium comfort car.
Yep, 8 speeds but the gearing is very long. As you can see uncle was only using 2nd & 3rd gear for almost the entire run. One of the many downsides of this transmission
they tune it not agressive as its for unker use. if they tune it agressive, later on unker complain. how?. lol.

Felt sorry for the Civic Type CVT! Like bruh.. Have some mercy towards that eco-friendly gaybox.
But it was quite quick though. Well, the 8 speeder is something that will be adopted by more car makers soon, I figure. CVT is good for fuel efficiency, so it is a matter of where on the balance scale the car maker wants to be.
Even VW have gone on to replace the dry clutch dct with the 8 speed Aisin.

In focus of power trend, handling, steering, suspension for drivers and comfort ability for passenger to long travel by road trip.
I think each car has its own appeal. Those who lean towards performance would go for the turbo, while those who want netter creature comfort and a comfortable ride woud go for the NA.
Alot of vibration & shake compared to Arteon. 14 min 20 sec is fast. mustang and wanna be racer boy, don't know it's not just a pro-racer. but a pro-rally.
Road is rougher since the landslides.

Wow, the road becomes so rough now. Those that say shaking can mute the video, much smoother, i think there are noise coming from the camera mounting or some loose items. I have to check my video speed twice to confirm I didnt put the video speed at 1.25. Mind you when Uncle overtook the mustang, he is doing 150-160, wet road somemore. So this camry is really something for uncle to have such confident. Great work as always, uncle YS!

They are very close. The Camry was very comfortable, and handled very well.
