I've watched many videos on strumming pattern but not much of the help, You are so clear that even a toddler can understand your teaching ...best video very effective help .
Dude, you have no clue how tremendous this video has been for me! I have finally figured out strumming!!! Thanks to you, I'm on my way to learn guitar finally after stopping before numerous times by giving up because I couldn't strum at all. Thank you so much dude!
Hey Joe, following up on my gratitude towards this video :) Thank you once again, now I can finally play quite a few songs on guitar, which I wouldn't have thought in my wildest dreams a year back!
Cheers for the Video clip! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Riddleagan Skillful Playing Remedy (google it)? It is a good one off product for learning complex guitar chords and become a pro without the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my m8 after many years got amazing results with it.

Of all the strumming videos this to me was easiest to understand hands down. only been playing guitar for 2 months and now I'm ready to practice what you taught. Great video!
Thanks for the video this really helps . I've been playing for 7 weeks now and its just choppy no rhythm this will help . I'm 51 years old and have wanted to play since I was a kid and I love it practice every night .
Awesome video man. Really helped. Proper theory makes a huge difference. Timeing is essential. Im 52 and a beginner of 2 years. Your video was excellent. Excellent video. Proper theory lesson. Everyone should watch this video. Finally someone who explains everything instead of just showing you what to do. Timeing is the most important thing in a song sounding right.
This is the BEST tutorial on beginning strumming I've come across! I have been struggling with basic strumming for so long, and this has been incredibly helpful. Thank you Joe!
I never understand why people dislike creators videos? What is not to like about this video? I'm assuming near 100% of people watching this are beginners, so perhaps more advanced people are not liking it, but then why would they watch it in the 1st place? Miffed. Great video!
Brilliant exercises thanks. I’ve been getting really frustrated with changing chords specifically G to D at present and I’m fed up with hearing about beginner songs being easy chord progressions (G C D for example). They’re only easy if you can do them! I can change easily between most of the basic chords but my ring finger just will not land on the correct string of the D chord at the same time as my index and ring fingers which makes a horrid sound as I strum down - loads of rattles and unharmonious noise grrr! One way I’ve found helps me is to always always count the “and” after beat 4 and thats my cue to change, it kinda helps. You’re also giving us that same space to change - when the strum hand is going UP so by the time the strum hand comes DOWN you’ve got your next chord. I’m deffo trying all your exercises to try and get my internal auto pilot instructed properly. Thanks xx
I have watched countless videos on strumming and still didnt get it until I found yours. It really breaks it down and I think I might be on my way to learning to strum. Great video
I'm about a month in on the guitar. I had suspected this little "nothing chord" technique for quite a while from closely watching very experienced and professional guitarists. This is the first time I've seen it talked about and taught. Good to know it is a widely accepted and used technique. And very good to have it demonstrated in a very slow and clear way. Excellent! Thank you.
I have NEVER been able to find a person who could teach strumming as good as YOU DO! With logic, with real visual explanations, saying why to do it that way and slow movements. Thank you 🙏 so much! For helping me to keep going and not stopping for not been able to strumming properly

Thank you, Joe, for showing how to strum. I just started trying to learn how to play guitar this last two weeks, there are so much to learn for me yet. You’re helping me so much, and thank you for being thorough with your explanation .
This video was very helpful, but in exercise 7 when you're counting the beats count only those beats which strums, like in exercise 7 count like 1 2 and and 4(don't count 3 it will mess up the rhythm of your strum.) One of the best video on RUclips for learning strumming helped me a lot.
Thank you Joe... I was really struggling with strumming as a beginner.. i watched and tired many styles but your video really helped me to gain confidence. Thankyou and before every thanks to you all Glory to GOD ALMIGHTY and God bless you brother.
ddu udu. Strum really no problem it's my go to strum always as its now on auto pilot strumming hand However always struggle to count it 1 2 3 4. Big thank you. I'm in hospital in some pain following knee operation this morning so this tutorial has really lifted my spirits. Cheers
4 years late to this, but good stuff Joe! Just started and never thought I'd conquer smooth transition between C and G ( I was 'cheating' with Cadd9 and G) !!!
Thanks Joe... very helpful like me just starting to learn in guitar. I feel also concern every sentence you say. Not just you talk to teach but there is heart that everyone who watch will surely understand. God bless you.. ❤🙂 By the way please, free to smile too. 😊👍

Thank you so much ! It helped me a lot , I am a beginner and faced difficulties during changing the chords.. but now I'm confident enough and doing well. 😊
I watched this tutorial a few months back when i was starting to learn, but its only now i really understand what i have to do to learn chord changes, great tutorial, very important in helping me,thank you joe
Just started learning guitar a few weeks ago and was getting frustrated that I just could not change chords properly. The metronome is a great idea. Awesome video. I am certain this is going to get me on the right path.
This was the most helpful video I have found yet. This will truly change how I play. The strumming has been my biggest issue and no one has yet to explain it. I have not been able to get out of the rut and get better; now I can. Thank you for being detailed and really caring about your viewers learning. I hope you have more lessons. I will definitely subscribe and I'm excited to move forward to learning some of my favorite songs.
Hey Joe! Excellent man. South paw playing 5 months now, nerve damage in right hand due to old injury. This lesson outstanding, thank you! I like your instruction style. New subscriber
How come you never decided to just learn as a right handed person would? Just because, the damage to your right hand, and the opposite hand from your usual dominant hand doing the most intricate stuff. Playing right handed, all you'd need to do would be hold the pick, and let your arm and wrist do the strumming movements. Although that would limit you a little if you ever choose to try finger picking.
thank you so much .. my problem was in chord changes and timing my changes with my pace of strum did the trick and now I'm 10 times better and cleaner in transition . amazing tutorial
Fantastic lesson. I already know and do a lot of this stuff., but to hear it spoken so clearly is a good reinforcement for those of us who are still at the novice stages of learning. For example the "nothing chord" is something I struggled with trying to NOT have happen early in my playing, but I realized not only is it OK to do, but it's desirable in many circumstances, even necessary. Great lesson, thanks a lot. Embrace the nothing.
I'm a begginer too. Although I think I am already progressing nicely, with plenty of available online tutorials, I give you high five on this very useful excercises. I like them because they point out progressive learning in small steps, you could say they learn you some discipline in playing. Especially useful was your last "cheat" advice, which is rarely mentioned, like many others have said. Thank you Joe.
Thanks a lot Joe...I was struggling a lot with chord transition, and since i am self taught it was getting harder and harder.Thank you for breaking it down.I think i found my Guru in you /\
Probably the most helpful video I've found yet on this topic. I had no idea when I started learning the guitar what a stumbling block this would be. I've learned about a dozen chords and have practiced them enough that I can change chords fairly quickly compared with when I was first learning, but this is just with trying to see how many times a minute I can change chords without consideration for anything but one downstrum for each chord change. So when I try to add a strumming pattern to it, it all falls apart. This video shows how to get there in incremental steps. I'm finding that I'm going to need to practice this A LOT before I can make any real improvements in my playing.
⛔⛔⛔ bro read this comment ........i cannot explain how good and important was your explanation here.....i was doing all the wrong practice that you mentioned and i am fucking trying this all over again....keeping in mind what u said.....A huge thanks🙏🙏🙏

Thanks very much for this very simple, yet insightful, approach to strumming. I will be practicing properly from now on thanks to your instruction.
