This is a great lesson for a beginner to get a look forward to how he’s going to get to that place he wants to be down the road. A map; a confidence builder. Of course, nobody could do all this 10 minutes after watching this lesson, but I think it would calm a lot a beginners down to see this and understand the pathway that lies in front of them.
This video really helped me, been looking for something like this a while now, playing for 1 year and still struggle strumming without it sounding all the same. Thanks!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I HATE strumming patterns and never in my life want to play DDU UDU again. Just within 10 minutes of watching your video, I apply the techniques and finally feel like my strumming is singing!!
Brilliant teacher. And keep talk. I'm 72 and this this teacher is best on RUclips. 5 years and not a tune outta guitar. Now I can play some tunes. Thank you sir
Wow you're devoted!!! I've been complaining to myself about lack of progress after one full year daily of trying and no real song .Reading your comment just made me commit to four more years. You reached me great Teacher..I like LaPain Music. He offers simple progressions of four chords. I can play one and "fake" it lol..great job!!! U encouraged this gal
Somebody help me!! I can't stop watching Simon's videos! There's so much to practice! It's like he wants me to improve my guitar playing and have more fun! I can't stop! That percussive strumming is hard to get - I have to practice! Wah, wah! Ha ha!
This is the lesson I have been looking for since I started playing. My strumming didn't sound the way I wanted it to, but I couldn't figure out why. Learning new strumming patterns didn't help -- it was the same playing but with different patterns. It was everything you go over here. Thanks for the lesson.
Thank you so much for this video!!! I couldn’t stand to hear myself playing my guitar and sounding like a robot strumming!!! I was about to give up..😢 But you saved a guitar player with this video, thank you so much!🙏🏻☺️
Thanks a bunch! This lesson was awesome. I've been trying to up my strumming game, and this video really hit the mark. It's definitely one of the best lessons I've ever seen. And those practice tips are much appreciated.
Hey man, thanks so much for creating and sharing this movie. As a keyboard player (now playing a strat (badly) for a year or so) I just bought a Yamaha semi-acoustic, and realised II need more skill in the basic strumming area - this was super helpful, ... I didn't even have my hand position correct for palm muting, lol. Very helpful, thank you :-)
Just picked up Granny bunch of great tips. I didn’t see this on any of the other little workouts that I gone over in the past. Thanks a lot new subscriber.
Simon, what a great lesson! I have seen most of these techniques before but your explanation and demonstration made the techniques so much clearer. Love the practice ideas as well. Thanks
What an excellent teacher Simon is. So zrare to find such quality on RUclips! Thankyou so much for taking the time to share your knowledge. It really is appreciated. You are the real deal.
Please make a video if possible on singing while playing guitar, specifically separating the rhythm of the guitar part from the singing because that really trips me up.
Great lesson, Simon! I'd almost given up on becoming competent at pick strumming. Turns out the muting and the percussion makes my picking sound tolerable . . .
Good lesson encapsulating some of the techniques to improve strumming. I have been exposed to these from other videos but nice to have several techniques in one place. Also good close up and explanation of the percussive slap technique which will help me improve!
I find that most RUclips guitar song tutorials include a suggested strum pattern. Maybe it’s easier for the teacher to get you going and get through the lesson. But I never really feel like I am in the rhythm of the song following these patterns. Your method of developing feel for the rhythm is very useful and will encourage us to play more freely with the beat and melody. Your approach is much more useful in developing song rhythm. You have been very helpful. Thank you.
@bm3823, you are very welcome! :) Yes, strum patterns are nothing more than a guide. They are a useful tool for training students to strum with correct and efficient technique. But the vast majority of strumming out there is far too nuanced to little down to a single bar repeating pattern. I am glad y video has helped you and I appreciate you dropping by to say so :)
Hi Ritu :) In what way would you like me to elaborate on it? The point is to target strings when strumming to create dynamics, not the pattern itself :)
Hi. Tried to access your free mini strumming course by entering my name, email and clicking th button. Had asyncform error. Can you help. Oh, really liked your initial strumming technique video. Thanks Barry
@bjm2762, glad you liked the video :) Everything is working on my end regarding the Minicourse. Are you able to tell me which browser you are using so I can try and replicate the issue and sort it for you.
In don't know why, but when i strum and sing at the same time and record it my mobile phone.... In recording guitar noises means just sting of guitar voice why is it?(i dont have any buzzing problem while strumming
Tablature for examples presented in this lesson can be found here: acousticguitarlessonsonline.net/guitar-strumming-sound
@acousticguitarlessons Simon I'm learning as much listing to you speaking. I have found it easier but I will watch all your videos. Thank you

No need to be rude, because that comment is rude, he’s putting out this video for free and sharing
So we're just supposed to learn by him being quiet and strumming his guitar?
