    Thank you for your sharing, @PhillipSkraba. If the original footage appears to be red or blue, you could please check the white balance parameters. Right click the menu and go to [Settings] - [Video Parameter Settings] and set [WB Settings] to “Auto” (AWB). Alternatively, go to “Custom” to set the WB to 5500k ~ 6000k. Then, check whether abnormal color persists.
    If the issue persists on the original footage, you could provide us with the following information in a sharedrive link. We will help you to further check it with our engineering team, thanks.
    1) Screenshot of the set WB value
    2) Firmware version

      Is that you Luis? If not - my white balance is always on auto, firmware version is the latest, and it's not abnormal that one camera is a little warmer and the other is a little cooler, it happens with Canon and Sony too. Stop playing Luis.

    The OA5 is definitely a camera to use in D-log only and will produce much better results.
    Don't know what was going on at DJI to mess up the standard mode that much from the OA4 to the OA5
    Exactly the opposite goes for AP2, that camera should never be used in I-log and so far the standard is the way to go in my opinion.
    The night mode video is definitely better on the AP2
    There is a really nasty jitter of the stabilization in daytime with the AP2 which is very visible especially when you look at tree branches.
    I was so hyped to get the AP2 but it just disappointed in way too many areas.

  • @phong6724
    @phong6724 2 месяца назад +13

    Thanks, a very interesting clip and I watched so many comparison videos that I got all the questions right. Sometimes the OA5 shoots better and sometimes the AP2 shoots better. But I like the dual screen design, weight and battery of the OA5. 1 vote for OA5

  • @phong6724
    @phong6724 2 месяца назад +7

    At 19:02, I sometimes found that the AP2 lost focus, and the image was a bit blurry. Looking at other footage, I found that the OA5 was better at focusing on the central scene, including trees and houses, and it lacked detail in the road and sky. On the contrary, the AP2 tended to focus on faces a bit better, increased contrast, and had better cloud and road detail, but the central area was a bit blurry.
    Obviously, this is a difference in the shooting style of the two cameras. And the choice depends on your personal preferences and understanding of the device.

    • @cdjxwubcyex

      Actually, there is no focusing in action cameras at all... They all have a fixed focus (with wide depth of field) from factory, no auto focus or even manual focus, it means, they are always focused at a single point. Your eyes are misleading you.. You may be referring to optical sharpness of the lens, it usually is sharper in center and less sharp in the corners, but this phenomenon is also static in fixed focal length lenses and never changes.

  • @Brian7Six
    @Brian7Six 2 месяца назад +4

    Easy to tell the difference based on the AP2 better cloud detail and more red in your face. OA5 renders the face smoother and less red.

  • @hugogamelas

    Its easy to spot which is which, the dji always has the soft clouds, and the ace pro2 always flickers when theres trees in the foreground against the sky.
    Its really hard to decide which one to buy, i do like the form factor and general image quality from dji, but the ace pro looks very good in day light as well, and at night is the best of the two cameras. would love if dji fixed its night mode, and the normal mode. Also, the face exposure on the ace is a big plus!
    I guessed every clip right, so i will be waiting for my medal!
    Great work Phil, keep it up!

    Fascinating! Great test. Honestly they both have strengths and weaknesses. They both do very well at night and inside. The Ace colors are warmer, but I feel like the action 5 is slightly more accurate and your skin looks better on the action 5. This is a fun one! The bottom line is that they are close. I believe the Ace has a slight edge at night. I like the warm colors but again, it’s close. Also I prefer the Ace in manual to supernight. If DJI can nail supernight and give us an HDR toggle it would be almost identical. I want to see you do this video with some color grading on each camera in log modes. That would be epic!

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 месяца назад +2

      Actually the Action 5 Pro really desaturated my skin tones on this one, my face was really frozen and red so it’s odd that isn’t at all visible on the DJI. They are very close, both superb cameras, it all depends on your preference.

  • @TFF7245

    Once you figured out the looks, it was pretty to guess which was what.
    I currently own a GP 11, so I don't need to upgrade. If I were to buy a new action camera, I would go with the Action 5. The biggest deciding factor is battery life, which is way underrated in action cameras

    Actually pretty easy to spot after the 1st clip.

    yup. i got it all correct. if the reds are redder and the yellows or oranges are warmer, then it's the ace pro 2. if the face texture appears to be filtered or too smoothened loosing details, the blues are bluer, and the leaves on the trees seem to be more overexposed, then it's the action 5 pro. at least that's where i based my judgement and was never mistakened. 😁

    Guessing was easy-AcePro2 always captures more details in the clouds. DJI has a DSLR-like vibe, while AcePro2 gives an action camera feel. I counted which shots I liked and it turned out to be DJI - 8 and AcePro2 - 7. Nice game Phillip ! Good work.

    I got every one right. They both have a signature look that is easy to spot. The Action 5 Pro produces a consistently cooler, sharper, better exposed image than the Ace Pro 2. The Ace Pro blows out more highlights and many scenes have a reddish/purple colour cast. And, as I said before, it just isn't a clearly defined and detailed image. And i watched this full-screen on a 40" 4K TV.
    I bought the Action 5 Pro shortly after it released and have no regrets about not waiting to see what the Ace pro 2 could do.

    Ace Pro 1 & 2 always easy one, especially outdoors, look at the sky/clouds ;) Wow, I'm shocked...not really, Ace Pro 8 Bit looking better then the 10 Bit A5P? Since AP1, Insta360 has pulled off an 8 Bit camera that looks similar if not sometimes better then a 10 Bit camera with zero post, another reason why you won't see Insta360 go 10 bit with the Ace Pro series. I'm not sure what they did with the A5P but I still love my A4, A5 just looks 'dull' all the time to me, great video as usual ;)

    I don't have ANY Action cam yet so I am not biased for/against any specific camera or camera manufacturer at this stage... but I do know that either of these look a LOT better than a GoPro in all the footage I've seen so far when it comes to lower light/night. So far I think a person could be happy with either the Ace Pro 2 or Action 5 Pro... or for that matter even the DJI Pocket 3 if you don't really need "action" oriented features. Ideal setup for 99% of situations might be the Pocket 3 and either of these actions cams which would then have you covered for everything except the occasional zoom shot... but for those, almost everyone has a smartphone if they really need to take a zoom shot of something.

    It’s actually really easy to tell the difference. DJI footage is always a bit darker. Ace Pro Footage always has Uber definition in the clouds. Ace Pro always looks a bit over sharpened and HDR’ry, the DJI only sometimes looks HDR’ry (except when using dlog, then it looks normal all the time). The Ace Pro always turns up the shadows, the DJI lets them be shadowy. Ace pro is warmer overall, DJI is cooler (color temperature wise) there are exceptions to these observations however in general that’s how I tell the difference. I prefer the DJI.

    it's sad that you don't tell the truth to the audience.... the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 has HUGE hardware problem, while recording in cold temperatures, the camera heats up and will fog the lens inside.

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  2 месяца назад +1

      I have never had that problem and I’ve been filming in very cold temperatures, so I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t judge me. My camera does not do that and I’ve not heard anyone else who has it say they have that problem, so whilst you go check yourself, write to Insta360 with your specific problem and ask them for a fix.

    wow, I was originally leaning towards the Ace Pro2, thought the night was better in general, and better wind noise, but watching this video comparison, especially the night video, one thing I realized, the DJI video color look less processed, and overall everything is sharper. But the morning video, I preferred the Ace Pro2 because the clouds is better, and color more saturated which can edit in post for DJI, Damn this is tough.

    The inside cafe one was a little tougher without cloud, etc. but your face gave it away at 9:47 because the OA5 smooths the skin a little too much, and the AP2 shows more skin texture/imperfections. I will say that I think the AP2 looks too purplish in dusk/darker scenes like 17:01 but maybe it was because it was not in Purevideo mode. I imagine the white balance was better represented by the OA5. But the trumpet flares also give away the OA5... LOL

    It’s easy to guest which one is which. HDR is too strong on OA5, cloud details is wash up, face is always too pale. DJI is obsessed with winning night mode shots to the extent that there day time shots have wash up, pale skin and unnatural flare. If you shoot 80-90% at night, most shots vlog I watch is done on day time, go with OA5. In low light, the AP2 tends to be warmer as well. But in low light situation, the OP5 exposes brighter footage though compared to AP2. The AP2 with the face detection is certainly better (without pixel peeping) than OP5 even against the 10-bit. It seems to expose much better than OP5. Without the face detection though, it's rather under exposed on the human subject. It's so close between the two of them.
