Not lazy at all! 1. Time management. 2. They actually keep the grass healthier by trimming more regularly than cutting - you're only trimming a tad each day or 2, like shaving. Plus it trains the grass to spread rather than grow up, thus filling in bare patches and reducing weeds. I love my Moebot!
I certainly need the bare patches filling :D
My Dad used to have a Flymo, back when they were basically a hovercraft as it didn't have wheels. An idea for your lawn, aerate it and top dress it with gypsum.
We have a normal flymo in the shed
Good video. Its a great little mower , I've had one for over a year now and the grass is looking its best ever. I buried the guide and loop wire instead of using the pegs. Also had the no loop signal a number of times and found the fault to be the connections on the back of the charging station to be the fault. Also just added a flower planter to go over the charging base to protect and hide the mower .
Yea our grass mostly looks good. The wet weather we had a few weeks ago did mean the mower churned up the bare patches a little. Most of our wires are now unnoticeable. May need to look for a cover for winter
What problem did you have with the wires at the back.
Sir. Its a space that is needed for full size lawn mower to keep it. If you don't need to its just more space for other gadgets:)
It’s truly a Rob-ot.
LOL i am doing this tomorrow well redoing i mean , John our Flymo mower cut his wires at the end of last season , had him for about 4 years now and apart from an easy update for him , there is a USB port underneath for that, and a fresh set of blades at the start of the mowing season he has been rock solid
I have him in the front garden and originally had him cut the grass at 2AM every day , he is extremely quiet but that quickly changed to 2PM because of the weather (see below) as the neighbours love to watch him go about his cutting ,
A couple of tips i would say would be , the mower will one day cut the wire , it happens. Do Not buy their connectors to re-join the wire ( you don't have to replace the wire entirely ) just use a spade connector , much cheaper and does the same thing , the wire should be easy to find as it should be poking up, as the mower will stop as soon as it cuts it, So the wire cut will be under the mower
If you manage to dig or cut through the wire (instead of the mower doing it ) when gardening and are not sure where the cut is , i read in a forum that if you use an AM radio and get it to the right frequency the radio will detect the pulses and you follow with the radio and when it stops pulsing that's where your break is
Also keep an eye on the weather , he is supposed to not deploy when its raining but from my experience he goes out in all weathers , i think once in 3 or 4 years he didn't deploy when it was raining but lots of times i just popped on the app and sent him home
A half-moon spade is great for a wire-width trench. And I'd suggest a touch under the 30cm (basically half the width of the mower plus a small bit) - the wire will be in the middle of the mower as it drives home to charge.
Yea I do actually have one, but I couldnt be arsed to dig the trench! :D
When you say a touch under 30cm how do you mean? I’m about to install one of these in my garden and have a fence on 3 sides (it says 35cm to walls for the boundary wall?) I also have a flat edge that joins to some artificial grass. Confused how close i need to have the boundary wire to the flat edge grass/artificial grass, and all the fence panels? Any advice appreciated
@@RonaldMcMartin I would say 30 from fence and boundary wire. This is a decent mower so slight variations shouldn't be a problem.
Brilliant product, got the Gardena Minimo which exactly the same as your model robotic lawnmower and it is such big help to keep your lawn maintained and short. Have never had such a beautiful lawn.
Its fantastic isnt it!
Thank you for a brilliant video. I’ve just purchased the same one and it’s helped me a lot 👍
Great. Its still working a treat! Just have to keep on top of the edges outside of the boundary.
I had an electric lawnmower in 1987. But it had a really long power cord and no battery lol. It worked great though even though you had to avoid running over the cord and electrocuting yourself.
Thank you. Just purchased my husband one as a surprise after i watched this video as was unsure if i should purchase on technology that would frustrate him with set up
Well glad we could help. I wish this was a sponsored video now! :D Just under a year on and still working a treat! Remember to store it away in the winter to preserve the battery!
Awesome! OOoppps, You have convinced me Rob! Hoo hoo.!!! No I DON"T want one! Perhaps a peg broke the wire?
My time is precious! 🤣 Yea, I'm not sure what messed it up first time.
17:36 Stopping the weeds from seeding is a big one. If the weeds cannot flower then they cannot seed a big part of mowing lawn. It is a mono cot di cot thing.
Watching you peg this all, and I am thinking this is something I would put on Airtasker!
It's a good idea, my lawn is massive though, I'd need 3. Backyard, then front yard is split into 2 areas
Nah I recon you could get one that does the distance :D
"And now it's just a case of pegging" 😂 OMG, I'm dying. Been debating just pulling the trigger because we also have a crap yard and I think regular cuttings would help. You should ask them for a sponser video showing an update 1 year later since using the robot mower with helpful tips, best practices, etc.
Haha filth! 🤣 It's a fantastic bit of kit and means you never have to think about using a lawn mower again.
Don't buy the Flymo Easylife. I've got one and it is SHIT.
@@hs97jhs Ut ohh, details please? I really don't wanna end up with another push mower situation where I stare at it hatefully. Also, I meant to ask, what happens when it inevitably hits a dog doo doo? It just seems like a lot to setup, damaged wires must be rough, and it can't edge, right?
@@hs97jhs Works great for us
Make a walkway down to the chickens and then plough it up. Why fight lawn when you can grow vegetables? The chooks are making the fertiliser. Don't fight grass. Lawn was a way in the old days to see if enemies where coming. Also was a status symbol because you could afford to pay someone to cut grass. Chickens love a pile of grass clippings and all the bugs and grubs inside.
Oh yeah we used to have a saying , Ducks do the land chickens do the edges. Chickens are the whipper snippers. I don't know how many you can have but ducks or geese and trim the lawn. The next step is goats or sheep.
We have got the same problem. But I managed not to undo it again by checking out the couplers for the guide wire .you just really need to push it through to connect to each other. ❤
Hows ur garden now btw?
Yes! I realised that's probably all I needed to do. Put real pressure down on the couplers. Well we need to wait for September to reseed I reckon. We have a dog staying that has dug a big hole and the mower keeps getting stuck in it 🤣
I thought "programmable" meant that you program it once and it stores the information. It looks like you have to keep the pegs and wires in the lawn. Doesn't that create a trip hazard? Otherwise you have to bury them. Correct?
the wires and pegs stay in, but they are very low and do not cause a trip hazard. After some time, they actually bury themselves. But you can also bury them but i wouldnt bother. After a month or 2 you cant even see the wires :)
@@CharlieandRob Thank you so much for taking the time to reply - very helpful!!
Interesting video. I have a small yard but still hopeless at keeping up with the mowing so this might be worth a go! 😊
Definitely. I found myself forgetting to cut the grass and then it's really long. So this saves the hassle
Haha , you’ve got lotsa daylight thete😊
My property is too big for a robot mower, however I am looking into a robot vacuum cleaner, might wait until Xmas to buy one.
get the new dyson
How big is "too big"? I've seen mowers that will easily do 2500sqm
Yea you can get some that cover some big distances
Thats great getting a robot lawnmower, now you wont be able to say to Charlie that you've been mowing all day when she comes home haha!! Definitely worth the investment though, love its name instead of the mower its the flo- er lol look forward to your next video and see if your lawns improved 🤔
Absolutely he can say that, and it's true lol
It just means Charlie will find something else to moan about me not doing :D
Just ordered one in sale for 425 quid ready for next summer. Garden has a slight slope so hope it’s ok
Ah bargain!! It won't have any issues with a slight slope 😁
What a great little gadget
Yea very clever!!
Great informative vlog 👍🏽.
Does it need to be plugged in 24/7 or just when you’re charging or using it?
Yea 24/7. The cable goes in the back of the homebase. Uses very little power though. It's a brilliant bit of kit!
Dont do what ive done twice with my electronic mower. Cut the grass just as its getting dark and rush it before night and run over the power cord. Haha.
Well this is doing it every morning. Working well so far with no incidents 🤣
Is there enough wire for the front garden and the back too
We messed up the wire once so redid it so yes!
How were the quads and back the next day after all that squatting and Is the wire dog chew proof ?
My back was absolutely killing me! You can technically bury the wire.
@@CharlieandRob Thought so, I guess Charlie was the same.
Very good 😊
Gotta give it a name😂
Charlie names it Flo
@@CharlieandRob sounds good Charlie so it’s a girl 👧 👍😁
I named mine David Mowie. Got him registration plate stickers with his name and googly eyes. 😂
15:13 Good to see Leena is cracking on.
How did you solve the electrical problem with the cable?
So the half way connectors wasn't pressed down enough. I used pliers to squeeze until gel comes out
@@CharlieandRob thanks buddy. I'll give it a check.
Wow. I’d be returning that. What a fail. 😂
How has it failed. Its working a treat!
Would you still rate getting this lawnmower?
Yes 100%. Still using and have it set to one cut per week now it's winter.
A good lawn mower robot, it should be a good lawn mower for mowing delicate small yards.
But will it do my 10 acre front yard?🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd be doubtful it'd reach the other end of the yard before having to go back and recharge. 🤣 Haha, the biggest model they do covers 800m2, I don't think 50 robots is very cost effective 🤣
Maybe stuck to a ride on haha
nice video you should name the robot. my dog does the same thing with the ball when people come over.
They did name it. It’s Flo.
@@suave-rider You don’t know their story.
Yea Charlie named it Flo! haha
I’m lazy as well that mower would suit me
Any thoughts about getting a doggie ball automatic shooter? 🐕
haha yea thought about it but not sure I can train Lina to put the ball in there :D
Out of curiosity, how much would a lawn mower cost you?
What type? Petrol? Electric? Robot?
@@CharlieandRob petrol
@@madswansfan1 roughly about £160 from B&q
Hi Rob
I’ve done everything but where is the PIN CODE
Up, right, down, left, middle. That should work
It doesn’t look like it’s cutting the grass at all?
That's the idea. My grass was low before installing. It goes out everyday and takes off a tiny bit. Meaning no mess and putting nutrients back into soil
How’s it work on a garden in an L shape?
Works exactly the same. It has the boundary wire and stays within it
@@CharlieandRob I meant with the wire across the diagonal of the garden
Can we have an update? How well did it last the year? Have you put it out again this year? I have an R1200 "Chopper" and find that it's generally not the cable that is at fault but it will be the connectors that corode over the winter and need replacing each year.
Its all still going well just under a year later. Stupidly I left it outside in winter and so it needed cleaning up and had a bit of a fit the first big cut of the year. But otherwise its been fantastic and luckily no issues with the wire.
@@CharlieandRob Lucky the Winter didn't kill it. I always do the first cut with a regular mower, sometime the first few if the weather is very wet. The robots will churn up the grass if it gets too muddy. Setting up the ideal cutting schedule is an art and depends very much on the size of your lawn. Mine does it's work during our working hours so the grass is good for the weekends and evenings.
@@daz71 Yes stupidly I had it going once per week in the winter so grass never got long. But like you said, it then churned up the mud. Luckily, my reseeding this year has been mostly successful! Lessons learnt.
That had made me never want that model.i felt stressed just watching you guys.
Haha it's been mostly plain sailing since. Still doing a good job
But it missed bits 🤔
No no no. But if it does, it goes out every day, so will cut bits it may miss :)
@@CharlieandRob oky dokey, I'm just a tad ocd when it comes to mowing every blade of grass 😅🤦🏼♀️
